As some of you may already be aware of, a Residential School graveyard was unearthed on Church property a couple of weeks ago, and this has stoked tensions against the Church in Canada here. Canada’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission had reported that these graveyards have existed years ago, but the public is still shocked and the media is trying to stoke-up anti-Catholic sentiments here. Undoubtedly more graveyards of this nature are going to be discovered, just last night I heard that the lands of another former Residential School are going to be searched for just such a graveyard.

Please pray for us Catholics, and for the Indigenous peoples of Canada up here as well; below is a video that explains a bit better what the Residential Schooling system was, and the nature of this recent discovery:

Our Blessed Mother under the title of Our Lady of the Cape and Our Lady of Guadalupe pray for us!

    I did see that headline.

    Awful.

Children should never, EVER be placed in the care / custody of adults who aren't screened and certified (which precautions didn't exist back then). Religious or non! It's enough being an adult, encountering abusive or malignant people whom one can get away from.

Yet another tragic story in "The New World" which the descendants of the perpetrators will be demanded to give account for. :giggle:

Discovery of child graves in Canadian residential school demands further questions as many hastily attack the Church | News | Lifesitenews

Article was posted June 9th. Signs | Page 523 | Mother of God (motheofgod.com)

Also: Alberta social studies curriculum adviser says Kamloops unmarked burial site no evidence of genocide (msn.com)

"Almost the entire media and social media class in Canada, however, seized on Kamloops as evidence of 'Canada's Holocaust,' as if the children had been deliberately killed or that death was the norm rather than the very sad exception," Chris Champion wrote Thursday in the Dorchester Review, a history publication which he edits.

I think the lifesitenews article was saying we will need to find out more. That some of those who were buried; were just from the area and buried in a cemetery. The video above in the OP indicates these really are not "mass graves" as we have an image of. We really need to know more about the circumstances at Kamloops.

Canadian govt ignored inspector’s warning in 1907 of ‘prime conditions’ for ‘outbreak of epidemics’ at residential schools
Accusations of blame leveled at the Catholic Church could be misplaced, according to the findings of Dr. Peter H. Bryce that were published in his 1922 book 'The Story of a National Crime.'

    ANALYSIS

KAMLOOPS, British Columbia, June 15, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) – In the light of the recently discovered unmarked graves of 215 children at the Kamloops Residential School once run by the Catholic Church, dark accusations have been directed at the Church, yet a report from the early 1900s by the medical inspector at the time reveals excessively high rates of tuberculosis among Indigenous children and a substantial lack of proper financial support from the state.

The Canadian Medical Inspector in place shortly after the beginning of the 20th century penned an explosive report that the government refused to publish, documenting the shortcomings of the state-funded residential schools and how state failings were allowing tuberculosis infections to spread widely.

    ...

Canada was already experiencing high child mortality rate, with rates for children under five being 296.75 deaths per 1,000 births in 1900. The First Nations people themselves have historically been noted to be less resilient against infectious diseases, such as influenza epidemics, measles, and smallpox.

Another Catholic Church burst into flames and was razed to the ground in Edmonton as First Nation Indians continue to attack churches across Western Canada.

Inflammatory headline, under investigation. But ethnic tensions building, stoked by media AT the very same time that Federal government passes an anti-hate bill and an internet censuring bill, to deal with hate.

Media timed and fanned outrage. News (without readily available context)provides Distraction and justification at same time. In my opinion.

At least 10 Catholic churches in Calgary vandalized with orange and red paint
Protests against church involvement in residential schools included texts reading “Charge the priests” and “Our lives matter”

Calgary police are investigating after at least 10 city Catholic churches were vandalized with orange and red paint.

The vandalism at the churches included spattered paint over a statue of Jesus Christ, painted handprints on doors and text reading “Charge the priests” and “Our lives matter.”

At one church, a window was smashed so paint could also be thrown inside. At another, Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church in Renfrew, the number 751 was spray-painted across the sign, a reference to the 751 unmarked graves identified by Saskatchewan’s Cowessess First Nation at the site of the former Marieval Indian Residential School.
