If he follows the False Church Synodal pathway, it's time to take to the hills. We won't have long to wait and see. Hopefully he will quietly drop it. He is supportive of the Latin Mass which is a very good sign. But the False Church Synodal Pathway is the biggie. John Henry was too quick on the draw.
Mundabor, who is a real terrier of a blogger, and was extremely critical of Pope Francis, is cautiously optimistic: https://mundabor.wordpress.com/ While he can be quite crude, being an Italian who is more used to popes than people from the rest of the world, Mundabor has been a good judge over the years. Unlike Ann Barnhardt, he has never fallen for the idea that Pope Francis was not legitimately elected. To Mundabor, Pope Francis was a wicked pope, but not an antipope. Ann Barnhardt, who is very well-intentioned, went down the rabbit-hole of sedevacantism since the death of Pope Benedict. She might very well be proven to be right, but it will be long in the future and it was not her call. Mundabor, on the other hand, never made this tempting mistake. He has been a good judge of papal character up to now and is confident that Pope Leo XIV is a Catholic. If nothing else, we can return to that old saw, "is the pope a catholic?", when describing things that are obviously true. Personally, I haven't used this in conversation for many years.
Interesting point on that pope is Catholic . This is interview from a few years back that Pope Leo did. I like that he emphasized a bishop needs to be catholic and bring the Good News. https://www.vaticannews.va/en/vatic...ost-the-bishop-is-a-pastor-not-a-manager.html Q.Could you offer an “identikit” of a bishop for the Church of our time? First and foremost, he must be ‘Catholic’: sometimes the bishop risks focusing only on the local dimension.
He had been mentioned in some lists. Even former Fr Jonathan Morris, Fox News church commentator, said that he was a favorite and that this conclave was one where an American cardinal could be elected. He was saying it was Prevost or Dolan. I also heard Fr Santiago Martin on his YouTube channel, head of Franciscanos de Maria in Spain (an faithful orthodox movement), that some cardinals had commented that all (and he meant no exceptions so even Cardinal Burke) so ALL of the cardinals from North and South America voted for him. Maybe because the alternative candidate was no good, who knows… He seems a man of sound character and that will not speak crazy stuff on the plain and will not give much interviews. They say he has good humor but is reserved. He knows to hold his tongue. It is very telling he wrote down his welcoming speech, no pope has done that as far as I know. He seems a prudent man that will try to avoid controversy. yet he will have to confront the German problem, i wonder how he will deal with that
I am more concerned that he should dump the Synodal way. If he just does that he will have done everything. If he dumps the False Church thing the Germans will leave anyway I think . He does not even have to say openly he is dumping it, just to let it wither away. If he ordered the Swiss Guard to shoot Father James Martin SJ on sight I would view this as very hopeful Especially if they used automatic weapons. I might send him a letter recommending this; he seems very open to new ideas.
On his maternal side his grandmother was Creole and Hispanic from New I Orleans so he has hispanic/black/mulatto heritage as well.
Once again you hit the ball out of the park. IMHO. I like Mundabor and I particularly like your comparison with Barnhardt. She is witty and acerbic and unforgiving. Sometimes i am Frightened for her when I read her rhetoric. I would never dare to say such things for the sake of my immortal soul. But that's me. Not much of a warrior. She is certainly not lukewarm. I do believe we should pray hard and hope for a Catholic papacy. And trust God. So many lovely " coincidences" surround this selection. St Michael and Our Lady front and center. And his chosen name. Not to be dismissed lightly.
He was on network news. I think he was delighted about that. I am not letting him worry me in the least.
I think I'll be avoiding her for a while. I think she has prematurely judged things and has her mind already made up. I don't know who would have fulfilled her expectations (I will continue to look at her 'memes', which are on a separate site-they're often quite good). Mundabor is much more realistic
Let the LGBTQ agenda stand on its own merits without propping it up. Let debate be had and it will die on its own. The only reason it is still around is because it is force fed oxygen. A lot of positives will come from that. I honestly believe that the best thing the Pope can do at this time is just remove the guard rails for a lot of things. Let the light shine on everything while forcing nothing.
I am no fan of the synodal way either, but if this Pope can use that to unite the Church, especially the bishops, in the truth, so be it. If it becomes a back door to introduce heresies then NO! That was the feeling we got in the last synod, but thank God nothing happened in the end. This words by Cardinal Prevost on the synod from 2023 interview give me hope: “Sometimes it seems that we want to reduce everything to wanting to vote and then doing what was voted for. Instead, it is something much deeper and very different: we need to learn to really listen to the Holy Spirit and the spirit of truth-seeking that lives in the Church”
This really gives me hope and a lot of insight. It seems like he wants the church to re-discover herself. It also ties in with what I was saying about removing the guard rails, because the teachings of the church aren't a forced agenda of men. They are the battle hardened conclusions of great mystics and theologians derived from tradition and sacred scripture. Encouraging an authentic space for debate and discussion will foment this re-discovery. Or at the very least, not silencing Clergy who speak out while giving oxygen only to those on the one side.
What age is James Martin? Yet, all we hear from him are public expressions of his lust interests. Pathetic. The more these people get, the more they want...and still, it's never enough. Because, there's not a whit of love in it. Yet, that's what they delude themselves into thinking it is. Male and Female He created them. To unite until death do them part. Amen.
