I wonder is it possible for Irish Catholics to ask to join the Catholic Church in Africa? Their bishops are staunchly orthodox and not afraid to say it, either. Maybe our vocations crisis will have a silver lining...bring on some of these abundant African priests!

I dont expect they would. It's a cluster**** here lol.
I had an issue once at a church (a little over a year ago)... I had 3 alter serving kids (they took after me lol)... They were under the age of 14 when they were essentially accosted and assaulted by 3 people, 3 seperate times before I lost my proverbial excrement.
Long story short, we were caretaking, and people were gossiping about us (incorrectly alluding to feelings that simply were not based on truth). My wife, and 3 kids felt the brunt of this. It was brought to the Priest's attention (who held up their beliefs) and he arranged for a meeting that my wife was blasted at with lies and misinformation.
Truth be told... it took me the better portion of a year to CALM DOWN. I had expected the Priest to correct the issue (he didnt)... and when I brought it to the Bishop... He only apologized and said I should drop the anger, as it is bad for my health (lol... unknowing that I had already have the Heart Condition lol)... Then he brought said priest (age of retirement) to his diocese to do more work with lay persons (which he does not have the personality for... his church is and was a dead church I read it by it's fruits. No Marriages, no Baptisms... ONLY FUNERALS!!!)
Nobody else suffered. Only we did. And that was ok for the Bishop apparently...
He's coming around to our diocese in 2 weeks for a confirmation dinner... I think I should skip it lol... I have enough difficulty keeping composure over all this...

But for all accounts... I was ready to have a 'frank' discussion over our differences, which they all cast aside. Which is not the way I expected the Church to act, at all.
