I don't know how they figured this out, but supposedly 3 am will be peak opportunity to witness the Aurora in Ireland.
What a gift. It is amazing how well the photos of this event are turning out with everyone's cell phones. It must be amazingly bright.
Wasn’t there a great aurora like this tonight back in 1938 all over Europe? Shortly thereafter WWII started.
I believe so, and it extended into North America. I spoke to someone who witnessed it once and they said the sky was an eerie bright red. I am not sure this is comparable, but it definitely seems like a sign. I think I remember hearing a prophecy recently where by they mentioned the world seeing colors in the sky. It might have been the little girl from Mexico.
I also watched a couple videos on this space weather and it appears that these CMEs might not be slowing down any time soon. In fact they might be increasing over the next while.
yes we had a fantastic display in belfast we could see it quite clearly even with the light pollution hoping it continues tonight..definitely a large solar flare.
It's a real photo taken by an Irish tourist: "Luck of the Irish for visitor who snapped dazzling Aurora Photographer Sean O’ Riordan knew it was a risk making a quick trip down to Tasmania to snap the rare Aurora, and he wasn’t left disappointed. And, it’s not too late to maybe catch it again".
Many scientists at the time said that the great light of 1938 was not the Northern Lights but of unknown origin. I read that from a scientific convention of the same year. Even Hitler saw it from his home in Bavaria. I saw a little on the lights last night. It left me awed and feeling small.
