It would seem the Traditionalists will not be able to simply look the other way. Also, various bishops will have to willingly assist. What will a Mueller and/or Strickland do in the long run? Lord have Mercy!
It’s time to actively put on the armor of the Church Militant and fight. This time, the enemy is well inside the gates; he sits on the Chair of Peter.
This makes me very uncomfortable, even though I believe what the pope is doing is wrong. I think we should follow our bishops. Ask them to fight for us!
I still need to check but I believe an article posted on the forum that mentioned a possible resignation of Francis and the abolition of the title of pope emeritus also mentioned a possible restrictive decree on the Tridentine Mass to be issued in October of this year
The bishops, with a few rare but exemplary exceptions, have fled the field of battle. Please remember exactly that of which the armor of the Church Militant consists: The Armor of God 10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And in the current situation, obey the maxim, “Lex mala, lex nulla.” Or as St. Augustine said, “Lex iniusta non est lex.” Even if it seems to come from “Rome.”
Don’t be silly. Bad law - that which cannot, must not be obeyed - does not come from lawful authority. I’ll go back and put “Rome” in scare quotes so it’s a little more obvious.
https://onepeterfive.com/an-open-letter-to-every-priest-a-reed-shaken-by-the-wind/ An Open Letter to Every Priest: A Reed Shaken by the Wind Raymond Kowalski December 18, 20210 Comments The scene: a small church in some out-of-the-way place. Early morning sunlight dimly filters through a small window, revealing smoke curling up from two just-extinguished candles. There are six candles in all, upon an altar that is hard against the wall. Some placards with prayers in Latin are spaced along the altar. It is quiet. Several figures are huddled near the altar, waiting for the priest to acknowledge them. It is the second Sunday of Advent. Still meditating on the Gospel, the priest at length said to them, “What did you come here to see? A man whispering incantations? A sorcerer changing bread to flesh and wine to blood? An automaton kneeling and standing and gesturing?” Silence. “Why then have you come?” And they made answer to him, “We have come because you have the words of eternal life. We have searched for you, now three generations on. We were blinded in our cribs. We sought the holy bread from our fathers, but were given stones. In our time of trial, we knocked seeking refuge, but the doors were locked against us. “We have come that we might offer right worship and sacrifice to our God who created us from the beginning of time. And that we might do so more abundantly in a place where the holy angel from heaven guards, cherishes, protects, visits and defends all assembled. Where Michael the Archangel stands at the right side of the altar of incense. “We have come to hear the writings from the ancient books and the songs from our ancestors, that they may unite us to countless generations of holy men and women.” A pained expression came over the priest and he stared past them. He had been skeptical when he saw this group. So many had come lately to demand an end to the old-fashioned ways. Finally the priest refocused and said in reply, “We have seen now the abomination of desolation. The signs of the times are clear warning of what has begun. Can you drink of the chalice that I drink of?” They answered as one. “We can.” Then the priest sighed deeply. Looking into the eyes, no, the very soul, of each one of them, he saw their fear and their hope. He felt new strength well up in him. He said, “You shall indeed drink of the chalice that I drink of. And we shall drink of it together.” They did not flinch. *** They could not have known that earlier that very morning the priest had stared into the abyss. He had had a vision of himself, standing before his bishop and being given the ultimatum: give up the old Mass and sacraments or be banished without faculties into the world. He was reminded of his vow of obedience to the bishop, solemnly sworn before God and his brother priests on the day of his ordination. But he was torn; his conscience unquiet. What would he say? He had been reading and praying over this. What is the duty to obey an unjust order? Who is to decide whether a superior’s order is unjust? What is the duty of a priest to his parishioners? Can a successor of the apostles be wrong? Would this be happening if Pius X were pope? Is his own soul in peril if he submits? He knew that the matter would not end with his decision when that day came. He would not simply melt into the community and become invisible. No, he would continue to say Mass every day. The Tridentine Mass. And people would find out. And they would come — unbidden — to hear that Mass, wherever he might offer it. Regardless of orders from Rome and ultimata from bishops, the old Mass and sacraments would continue, as he and dozens, perhaps hundreds, of men like him continued to live their vocations, rather than bend to someone else’s vocation. This would continue until Jesus Christ rescued His church or — more likely — until the abomination of desolation culminated. The priest had prayed that morning for a sign from God. Now before him stood seekers who had been deprived of their birthright, but who nevertheless had found him and begged for right worship. He understood the sign. Photo by Allison Girone. https://remnantnewspaper.com/web/in...l-confirmations-ordinations-without-exception Pope of Mercy Restricts Traditional Sacraments, Bans Traditional Confirmations & Ordinations Without Exception Written by Michael J. Matt | Editor Print Rate this item 1 2 3 4 5 (30 votes) Remnant Editor's Introduction It is indeed reassuring to know that Francis will—in fact and on occasion—answer certain dubia raised by his bishops, even if we’re still waiting for an answer to those raised by Raymond Cardinal Burke et al some years ago regarding Amoris Laetitia and the pope’s decision to authorize unrepentant public adulterers to receive the Sacraments. These days the pope's got more important things to think about, which is evidently why he swiftly answered the dubia of bishops wanting clarity on when and just how fast the Church of Accompaniment is to abandon millions of Traditional Catholics around the world who adhere to the Traditional Mass and Sacraments. Those dubia have been most efficiently and expertly addressed by the 85-year-old Pontiff a day after his birthday and a week before Christmas. In a nutshell, the Pope of Mercy has officially proclaimed that it is time for the Traditional Catholics of the world to, well, go to hell. Pope Francis’s March to the Sea soldiers on, but not against abortion, apostasy, or gay ‘marriage’. No, nothing like that. But against the Sacraments of the Catholic Faith, instituted by Christ Himself to give grace. No matter what religion you are, you would do well pay attention to this because it has everything to do with tyranny and injustice for all. The Chaplain of the New World Order is old, he’s angry, and he’s hell bent on helping his globalist friends demolish the last line of defense against what Pope John Paul II called the “Silent Apostasy” and now, I would argue, against the nascent New World Order itself. To the proposed question: Why would a pope be cracking down on faithful Catholics in the middle of a worldwide lockdown, at Christmastime, and when millions are afraid, out of work and suffering economic collapse? He’s got nothing better to do? This is the moment when this obsessed globalist decides he needs to take away the spiritual consolation of millions of faithful (and disproportionately young) Catholics? Is he possessed, or just senile? The answer is: Francis is implementing a global ban on Old Normal Catholicism in order to make room for the New Normal Religion of Equity and Climate Change. A monstrous act by a monstrous little man, to be sure. But here's the thing: The monster has jumped the shark. This is not 1972. The world can see clearly now that the Novus Ordo experiment has left the Church in the shambles of global clerical sex scandal and apostasy. So when the Pachamama Papa decides to take a crack at destroying the healthiest movement left in the Church today—a movement bursting with vocations, new religious orders, new churches being built, and teeming with millions of young adherents—it's not going to go over at all well. Catholics have had enough of this man, which is why he will most assuredly fail in his effort to do what Paul VI and an entire Ecumenical Council could not pull off some 50 years ago. But, by all means, Holiness, do carry on. This act of desperation only means the revolution against the Faith of our fathers has failed. One does not persecute that which one does not fear has the potential to rise up against him. Francis is not on offense. Francis is on defense, and he will now unite the Traditional Catholic Counterrevolution—the clans—like nobody ever has. And so, with all our hearts and with God as our witness, we say to Francis in una voce: WE RESIST YOU TO YOUR FACE! – Michael J. Matt
I am not being silly. Please allow me to express my views, even though they don’t agree with yours. I am very saddened at this turn of events. But I am not happy with the alternatives. I don’t expect you to understand.
Let's see how a great saint responds to persecution and unjust orders from Rome: "As [Padre Pio's] spiritual influence increased, so did the voices of his detractors. Accusations against Padre Pio poured in to the Holy Office (today the Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith). By June 1922, restrictions were placed on the public’s access to Padre Pio. His daily Mass time varied each day, without announcement to diminish the crowds, and he was ordered not to answer correspondence from people seeking spiritual direction. "From 1924 – 1931 various statements were made by the Holy See that denied the supernaturality of Padre Pio’s phenomena. On June 9, 1931, the Feast of Corpus Christi, Padre Pio was ordered by the Holy See to desist from all activities except the celebration of the Mass, which was to be in private. "In the book Padre Pio: The True Story by Bernard Ruffin (3), he recounts that after Vespers on June 11, 1931, Padre Raffaele summoned Pio to the friary parlor to read the decree received, without comment: "Padre Pio is to be stripped of all faculties of his priestly ministry except the faculty to celebrate the Holy Mass, which he may continue to do provided it is done in private, within the walls of the friary, in the inner chapel, and not publicy in church". "Saint Pio's response: "God's will be done,'...then he covered his eyes with his hands, lowered his head, and murmured, 'The will of the authorities is the will of God.' "While this caused immense suffering for Pio, which was confided privately to his friend and former teacher, Padre Agostino, he did not complain or make objections, especially in a public way. "Two years later, on March 14, 1933, Pope Pius XI, sent personal representatives to see Padre Pio, who had been "imprisoned" (as he referred to it), without the ability to celebrate Mass publicly since June of 1931. Monsignor Luca Pasetto and Monisgnor Felice Bevilaqua. Bernard Ruffin continues in his book: "They found no wild-eyed fanatic, no crazed neurotic, no embittered rebel, but a pleasant, humorous man. According to [Padre] Raffaele, Pasetto was very much impressed with Pio's humility, his docility, and the whole of his conduct. He recognized Pio as a man of prayer and entirely godly." "St. Pio's postulator - Father Florio Tessari, in an inteview in L'Osservatore Romano had this to say about him in a June, 2009 article (5): Padre Pio was “a friar, a religious priest who profoundly observed the evangelical counsels (poverty, chastity and obedience) in his life. He suffered difficulties in silence like an authentic Cyrenean and at the same time was crucified without a cross..."He went on to point to two fundamental elements that led to Padre Pio’s canonization: “Faith to the bitter end and obedience also to the bitter end, despite the difficulties he encountered in his life..." Of course, that faith and obedience to the bitter end was within the Institution of the Church, in communion with his superiors, bishops, and other authorities working in the name of the Holy Father. He did not throw in the towel, but abandoned himself to the path that God permitted him to suffer. "We should reflect, given this information, had the Internet been available back in those days, would Padre Pio have sent out messages to supporters via multimedia and interviews giving his side of the story? Would he have bothered to point to past support in a public way? Would he create judgment on suspicion among his followers for Church authorities in subtle, or not so subtle, ways? "There is something to learn from the great saint in the way he handled a particular situation involving supporters. St. Pio learned that some men were going so far as to expose scandalous information about high-ranking members of the hierarchy in a book. The effort was aimed at freeing him from his "imprisonment". Ruffin explains Pio's response: When Padre Pio, however, learned of the forthcoming book, he seized Morcaldi by the throat. "You devil, you!" he roared. "Go, throw yourself at the foot of the Church instead of writing this garbage! Don't you set yourself up against your Mother!" Even after he learned later from Bevilacqua during that visitation that the allegations were true, St. Pio continued trying to dissuade efforts to end his "imprisonment" through the use of what amounted to blackmail. He did not want scandals exposed, even if they were true, because of the harm that would come to Holy Mother Church, and how it would affect unity. Pio knew that even bishops are not immune to the effects of Original Sin, but that the gates of Hell would not prevail against the Church (Matt 16:18). He accepted what befell him through imperfect men (Matt 23:3), by imperfect means, and he made the best of the situation. In fact, those misguided efforts to free him backfired at one point, bringing even greater trials for St. Pio. He was a man whose virtues were refined like a pencil put into a sharpener, and like steel which is hardened in fire." We traditional Catholics love to call ourselves the "remnant"... We care immensely about our faith and want to be saints, right? Well here's our chance to be tested in the fire. Do we have the humility to be obedient to a corrupt papacy in all things but sin? Are we willing to sacrifice our own wills? Do we think the Mass and the sacraments will have the same spiritual power outside the authority of Rome? Do we think the old rite sacraments will be more powerful when done in disobedience? I feel like I can't stress this enough: Satan is cunning, and he's coming for us traditional Catholics in the one way he thinks he can get us. And it's not that he's trying to harm us by taking our TLM... He's trying to get us through our own pride and disobedience. We must not fall for this trap. God tested Padre Pio. He found him docile, obedient, willing to give up good and holy things merely because Rome told him to. And after 2 years, He brought it all back to him. Do you not trust that God will save His own beloved Mass of the Ages? Will God say, "Oh, you were obedient and gave up what was most precious to you... Well, unfortunately it was all on your shoulders to save the TLM and you chose humility and obedience, so....too bad. You've lost it forever." Has God EVER worked like that? Let us not be deceived! This is God's battle and we will NOT be His soldiers through disobedience!
I do want to add that I am judging no one for their reaction because I feel such a pain in my heart over this... My husband and I struggled through some really hard feelings this morning for a couple hours. But God is so Good. He is so Faithful, so Just. I KNOW I can trust Him in this, as in all things. I trust His Will. And I trust that if this isn't His Will, it will not last. Evil does not prevail over God. Evil will not prevail over His Church. God will have the last word. Not Pope Francis. Not me. We must remain on our knees. Implore God. Implore our bishops. Perhaps God is sending a call to His good bishops to stand up and no longer remain on the sidelines. God's Will will be carried out through the authorities He has placed over us. And His Will sometimes involves the most painful of purifications.
