Ah, I recently had the opportunity to request 1st Fri Memorial Masses for all deceased in my family. I included both sides. 1 week later my uncle died. He has yet to be cremated or buried. I am comforted knowing the first Mass will be offered in 2 weeks.

It is stunning to me this is not a priority for either cousin!!

Since the government is sending us stimulus checks, my husband came up with the wonderful idea to have Gregorian masses said for each of our deceased grandparents by the Marian fathers. That way this money leading us into socialism will at least go toward a wonderful purpose and hopefully get some of our deceased relatives still in purgatory to Heaven.

Yes, Yes, Yes, and Yes. All of the above. People tell themselves that it has become mainstream now, it's okay. You used the word "normalized." Good word choice. These practices are sins against the First Commandment and they open up all kinds of doors to deeper involvement or demonic attacks. Sin is sin. And we are held accountable.

First Friday in April is Good Friday. There aren't any Masses said that day. Not from Holy Thursday until Easter Vigil.

Should we just consider the following week to be First Friday and First Saturday then?

Good question. Maybe it can be found online. The thing is that the whole week after Easter is pretty well designated liturgically, I think. But as I said, not sure.

  7. I could not see a more appropriate day than Good Friday on which to practice the First Friday devotion! Receiving your Holy Communion of Reparation can surely be acceptable the very next day. How can God who gave us this devotion have it that our commitment to it would an impossibility to meet? I believe all it takes is for your priest to permit it. The same should apply for First Saturday, in my opinion and based on my understanding. These devotions were given to us so that we might grow in love for The Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart, and not that we grow in scrupulously over how they are carried out. We cannot become as those in Scripture complaining to Jesus about practices He was allowing His Apostles to do as the Author of all Truth. (*Note: I’m not saying anyone here was complaining.)

As I have mentioned on the forum before the deception runs so deep that it takes spiritual dynamite to dislodge it IMHO. All we can do is try. The rest is up to Our Lord.

On the topic of First Fridays and First Saturdays, as I’ve mentioned before, my entire diocese has forbidden Communion on the tongue; recently, I’ve been sensing the need to take up, especially the First Saturdays Devotion again, should I tolerate receiving Communion in the hand for the sake of practicing the First Fridays and First Saturdays Devotion?

  10. For myself, no, I would not receive the Precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in my hand. I was made a spectacle by a priest for refusing that years ago.

I don’t think there is an easy answer to this but I would rather receive the Eucharist than not in this circumstance.

I could be wrong but I thought the first Friday and Saturday devotion - you had 7 or 8 days to fulfill all the obligations - so my plan is to go to the service good Friday - receive communion on Sunday and then the following Friday go to confession. I will be seeing my Priest this week so I’ll be sure to clear it through him. I’ve been trying to do the 9 first fridays for the last 2 years life just keeps interfering

Well, there will be Holy Communion on Friday, I think, from the Hosts already consecrated on Thursday.
But no Masses on Saturday until the vigil for Easter.

Me too. Every single time most recently. However I have some years that I've been able to complete them.

  18. We celebrate the pre-1955 liturgy during holy week so there is no holy communion distributed. not being able to receive our lord sacramentally on that day drives home the absence of his presence on earth after his death. (This is being dictated and thus, no capitalization in their proper places. I am usually a stickler about that.)

ETA—I am only referring to Good Friday!
