As I contemplate all of this … economy, war, disease …. I go back to the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden. To me, they allowed the devil to trick them into thinking that God did not completely and fully love them. So, he convinced them they must be like God… and be His equal. This was and still is the LIE of the devil. So, here we are today, each of us individually faced with the question… do we really believe God loves us? Again the evil one puts all thoughts into our minds so that we say no or not sure to this question. The devil whispers his lies everyday to us… i giving us to seek our security in false idols and not in God. I feel this is the battle… or at least my battle. I can’t possible win this battle unless I arm myself everyday with prayer and frequent confession and receipt of the Eucharist. And, surrounding myself with other souls who try and walk as best they can.
Here again, we might have to cross that bridge when we come to it. We are surely not there yet. I don't want to be borrowing trouble. There are two extremes. The Church has always taught moderation in all things.
Fr John Ricardo has an excellent you tube talk on this very thing. Recently posted. On not losing hope or giving in to fear. He is very funny in talking about the storm on the sea of Galilee when Jesus was asleep in the boat but Fr. Was very serious too about the importance of remembering who God is...our Father who loves us and is always with us knowing what we need before we ask. It was a wonderful talk. Its called "don't despair. The beauty of hope" and its posted by Word on Fire.
I think land's the best investment. If everyone loses their savings, who will be able to afford to buy (or run) a classic car? One can always grow potatoes and vegetables on a piece of ground. If one has enough, one can rent plots to others for a share of their crop.
Practical wisdom! Another month and tilling in prep for planting will begin! We're having a thaw here, now. With no snowstorm this week we'll lose our ground cover (first time in March), but more snow is on the way next week. The great tug of war. Maple syrup producers love the back-and-forth. It's that time of year! We'll have to buy a couple gallons!
I was feeling a little down about myself and overwhelmed and just - you know - what’s the point- I’m dirt no matter what I do or say I will do - I sin - it isn’t even major ones but absolutely stupid ones which I think are even worse because they SEEM to be so easy not to do. But nope easy sinning? —- right up my alley! So I was thinking why the effort, I’m just stupid dirt and not worth it…. And then I “heard” a little smirky smile and the words “and I still love you so much anyway” Makes me a little teary whenever I think about it because it felt so real and heartfelt.
Yes, we grew up thinking that land is the ultimate investment. I always did . But I believe the commies here (and internationally) are countering that. Communist Sinn fein and the other communists in power here in Ireland are going to make a play for private property at some not-too-far-away future point (as directed by their communist overlords). https://twitter.com/LocalGovIre/status/1631595276753588224?t=yi4OBc47ITs9-oMlDbG5dg&s=19
If they can arrest someone for praying silently there is no stopping them. Glad this man is not afraid to speak up.
Whenever I get this kind of temptation, I try to see God's love for me as I love my dogs. I know it's a juvenile comparison, but it works for me: Are my dogs perfect? No Are they sometimes knowingly naughty? Yes Are they a significant and important part of the Great Plan Of God? No. Do I still love them and want to spend time with them? YES!!! So as I also am insignificant and sinful and thoughtless and unworthy, still in this comparison I can think that I am like a "pet" of God and yes of course He still loves me and wants to be with me! But unlike animals, I as a human need to spend this time on earth wisely working out my salvation and letting God bring me to perfection.
Yes. He goes around Ireland, following and highlighting the problems caused by the 10s of thousands of illegal migrants that they bus in nightly (so as they can't be seen by the people). These migrants do not have documentation. We have no idea of their criminal records. And the powers that be have told us they WILL NOT PUT A CAP ON THE NUMBERS COMING-IN. It's an insane policy. They're housed in Bed and Breakfast accomodation. In hotels. And are being given Irish social houses (which were built to overcome our housing shortage). The thing is, where will they go when the state cannot afford to pay the exhorbitant hotel bills? They'll then talk of fair housing for all. And firstly confiscate holiday homes, moving onto people living alone. Before they make a play to nationalise housing and all private property altogether --- obviously in the name of fairness and equity. "You'll own nothing and be happy!"
There is method to their madness. Dilute the culture and create social chaos. It reminds me of that old warning. He who sups with the devil must use a long spoon. Western culture decided to sup with the devil. I don't think they/we are going to like it much. Any more than the Israelites liked the consequences if their baal worship. Since Adam and Eve we keep falling for the same old bait and switch.
Very true. These people tho... I just can't get them. How did virtually all -- ALL -- of our leaders succumb to this group think? How come they are all intent on selling out their people's, their countries? And not just political leaders... Singers, actors, activists, journalists...... I loved U2 growing up. I was distraught when they came out in support of abortion. Why? How?
