Hoping the economy can hang in there until I receive my lump sum from pension September 2023 - one of the reasons I am retiring early to cash in because I believe a an enormous (worldwide) crash is coming (selfish post lol).
I hear so many rumours. One is that the banks are acting weird when you try to take out larger sums of your own money. I experienced this recently when I tried to take out money to buy a car.
Funny you should say that I was in my bank last Thursday and noticed a sign saying maximum cash withdrawal is 2500 in one transaction. Imagine you were a millionaire and you wanted all your money in cash to put under the bed
In the university where I work there are ATMs on two neighbouring campuses. A couple of weeks ago an email went out announcing that the ATMs were to be removed in the coming week. No reason given, no explanation. Just gone. The move towards a cashless society is happening fast now.
Scary. I just went to bank and drew out some cash. Not a lot cuz I don't have a lot. But thought it prudent to have some on hand. Strange days.
Yes, we also withdrew a fair amount of money. The truth is the debt-ridden financial system, especially dollar denominated structures, have been waiting for the shoe to fall. I found it an interesting coincidence that the turmoil in the financial markets on Friday (due to the failure of the Silicon Valley Bank) occurred on the same day as the close of the German Synod as if the state of the world reflected the spiritual state of the Church.
The two banks that went under made some very poor investments, and the rising interest rates were also a factor. I just heard that the CEO of the SVB started selling off stocks back in October when it became apparent that the bank was insolvent. Management also walked away with big bonuses. We are keeping a little cash on hand just in case. It is a scary situation because we are all tethered to banks, most everyone receives employment and retirement payments through direct deposit, some companies will no longer send live checks. I haven't seen anyone pay by check at a store in years, most use credit/ debit cards. A few dinosaurs like me still use cash for smaller purchases. I just received an email from one of our banks telling customers not to be concerned. They said they've been in business since the civil war, and have weathered many events including the Great Depression. I'm assuming there were quite a few customers at the bank today withdrawing funds.
Feels very orchestrated to me. I have seen quite a bit of video tapings from Federal Reserve meetings and FDIC meetings and they tell you what's happening if you know how to dig around. I don't know when or how fast, but the plan is to move off the fiat system to the digital system and for that to happen they need us all to feel scared and concerned about the current system so we adopt the new one. When it does go down, it will be announced around 5pm on a Friday that the banks will be closed for a certain amount of time. You won't be able to get cash and if you need to make purchases you will only be able to use cash. So have some cash on hand. They want many to be afraid and panicked then they will come in and "save the day" with the new digital currency system. Once we go to this though, it can be very bad because once on a digital system then they can freeze your money whenever they want for whatever reason they want. My advice, move out of the large banks and find good, strong, moral home town ones. Keep some cash on hand! Most importantly stay close to God, then what do we have to fear. We can only serve one master!
I think really this is all we can do. But it is everything we can do. In either case I don't think we're going to be left with much choice. One thing cheers me me up. If you've very little to loose you'll loose very little (like me). But it would be a totally killer to have a million of more in a Bank and suddenly wake up one morning to discover it had gone like the Morning Mist. If you're poor getting a little poorer would not be hard to get used to.
I was in doubt if someone had synchronized an audio with the moment when Biden leaves the room; I believe this president's lack of firm leadership could drag the US economy into the abyss in a matter of weeks.
