I must point out that the 1918 Spanish Flu mutated and became ever more deadly in its " second wave. "

(There were 3 waves altogether, the deadliest was the 2nd wave).

We must ask Saints Jacinta and Fransisco to help us to accept whatever is God's will for us. He did not spare either of them...

At the same time he is basing his evidence on UK government data in it's very early stages - and pontificated by British PM Boris Johnston yesterday -- response in the UK media from scientific advisors quite swift --

Covid: 'More deadly' UK variant claim played down by scientists

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-55779171

But the co-author of the study the PM was referring to said the variant's deadliness remained an "open question". Another adviser said he was surprised Mr Johnson had shared the findings when the data was "not particularly strong".

Dr Mike Tildesley, a member of Sage subgroup the Scientific Pandemic Influenza Group on Modelling (Spi-M), agreed it was too early to draw "strong conclusions" as the suggested increased mortality rates were based on "a relatively small amount of data".

He told BBC Breakfast he was "actually quite surprised" Mr Johnson had made the early findings public rather than monitoring the data "for a week or two more".

"I just worry that where we report things pre-emptively where the data are not really particularly strong," Dr Tildesley added.

A friend of mine got the first shot of a two-shot vaccine a couple of weeks ago. He was complaining of pains in his hips lately. Not sure if there is a connection. Hopefully not.

100% - he is a good man - I have watched some of his videos before - he is careful and measured.

It is possible that the new variant may cause increased mortality but it will take more time and evidence to prove this

In the latest video he thought it a coincidence that rates of covid infection had risen and declined recently in the UK and USA at the exact same time --- despite UK being in lock down and America not in lockdown.

Lockdowns have negligible impact on the virus hence that is why UK and USA have exact same trajectory.

The new variant is now in my area..there's an outbreak in the retirement home about 20 minutes from our home. Its spreading quickly. I feel so sorry for them. Someone who traveled had no symptoms and brought it in.

Yes Bobby my son is diabetic and I also have asthma..

The same scientists who are telling us that children are low risk are the same scientists who are telling us to get vaccinated so who or what do you believe its all deciet and confusion.... Lies Lies Lies

His videos are good and he got the warning out early last year as governments dragged their heels after listening to the WHO. But he is very much on the vaccinate bandwagon, especially the Oxford vaccine which, as far as I can remember, is the one most closely connected with abortion.

I don't follow the news here and only hear snippets of it outside my own home or from family members so I could be missing vital information. I haven't heard of any worry that survivors of one strain are vulnerable to infection from the second strain. I thought I heard that the vaccine gives protection against the current mutations although I don't know whether that's accurate or how they can be sure of it when mutations are so recent.

It seems now that it's mostly younger people being infected by the new strain and some are getting very ill. I don't know whether treatments approved in other countries are approved in Europe. It seems unhelpful, therefore, to compare statistics between countries unless the same range of treatments is available in all the countries. For example, I don't know whether Ivermectin or the drug Trump was attacked for supporting or, indeed, that latest drug the Canadians are using is available or being used here. I have heard that there are a lot of people in intensive care and on ventilators here.

While more young people are getting this new strain, that might be happening because more precautions are being taken to protect older people rather than the virus itself finding young people a more vulnerable host.

One word of caution about ivermectin, and it could be completely wrong. Someone in the comments section claiming that ivermectin mixed with something else was effective in some country said that one person had spinal paralysis after taking it. At least that's the best sense I could make from the comment. I don't remember which country he was from but it seemed from his comment that ivermectin was being widely used there, apparently to treat some cancers. He also said that there is a limit above which the dosage can kill. It's a long comment and if you want to read it, it should be easy enough to find.

I see lots of recommendations here for self-medicating. That's never a good idea. Get medical advice first. If your doctor recommends against, ask him the reasons but have some respect for his training and experience. As often as not, the doctor does know best.

The vaccine that has been developed (Pfizer etc) may only stop the recipient from getting really sick - it does not prevent infection and they are uncertain about transmission. It may well be a vaccinated person can still transmit covid so there are still a lot of questions.

So those who take the vaccine are still advised to wear face masks and socially distance.

I am not anti-vax. I would take a covid vaccine that works in the traditional way where you are given a small dose of the disease to boost your immune system.

The mRNa vaccines are a completely novel idea -- my concern would be the long term impact. No one knows for sure yet. The vaccine companies skipped animal trials and went straight to humans. They have also been indemnified by the government from any potential litigation should things go wrong.

So, in effect humans have become the guinea pigs in a vast experiment.

Hopefully, an ethical and conventional vaccine can be produced soon but at the minute we are in uncharted and uncertain waters.

Yes, I noticed he was promoting vaccination yet he does seem very level headed, and he sticks to the facts. We have been fed so much conflicting information we are pretty much walking around in the black of night feeling our way. That is very concerning about ivermectin, yes I think I would want to consult with my doctor first. We all need to be very careful. I heard a report today about a California man who died after getting the vaccine. :( I don't know what his issues were, but this only goes to prove that there are many dangerous unknowns about this vaccine.

Balanced reporting is gone by the wayside for this and all news. It's all hype now. People who die with covid are reported as dying of covid irrespective of any co-morbidities. People who die after being vaccinated are not included in vaccine related deaths if they had a co-morbidity. I suppose that all vaccines, even the tried and trusted vaccines, carry a risk for small numbers of people. The trouble now is that the authorities are so committed to the covid vaccine that they won't entertain any questions about it.

We are being told that there are very few 'flu cases this year. They say that's a benefit of lock-downs and masks. Bit we already have vaccines for 'flu and pneumonia. Every year around this time the news is full of reports about overwhelmed hospital emergency rooms and patients lying on trolleys waiting for a vacant bed. This year there are no reports of people on trolleys. It's all about hospitals full of covid patients. Where did all those trolley patients go? Did masks and lockdowns cure all other ailments? Some of our private hospitals have been taken over by the government for treating non-covid patients. I suppose that accounts for some of the absent trolleys. So what happened all the patients who would otherwise be in those private hospitals? Lots of questions that either are not being asked or are going unanswered. Could it be that all the hype about trolleys was just hype - an emergency manufactured to get more funding for the hospitals who don't need the funding now so don't need the trolley stories? Who knows? Anything could be true. That's one of the results of long term lowering of standards in journalism. Trouble is that asking any questions is seen as covid or science denial.

Bottom line is that the virus can be dangerous and we need to protect ourselves and our loved ones from it. For me, that doesn't mean taking any old vaccine. I can wait but I understand why others can't.
