Benedict may be the pope of those prophecies, and thus all is in order and unfolding as prophesied. In fact, St. Catherine Emmerich saw the vision of the “two popes”, and the Garabandal seers apparition of the remaining popes tell us we are on the final one. Time will tell.

Quite plausible, yes, especially given all the other prophecies about the False Prophet. How is this difficult to see, especially given the dozens of prophecies about this? MDM is not original by any means on this. It is silly to argue that this is unique to her. Even Pedro Regis, who has his Bishop's written recognition, acknowledges as much. And now it even seems possible, given the Pope's track record. But, time will tell.

I think it is plausible that the various prophecies that indicate a Pope will be and that state this one is... are simply plausible. So it is simply plausible, that is a fact. A false pope is no pope at all, and thus is not infallible. And the faithful should not obey false popes. If a false pope reigns in the place of Peter, then this does not necessarily destroy the papacy itself either, as history demonstrates.
But in fact as you yourself have indicated , not only in general terms, but particular, in line with MDM you feel that our Present Holy Father may be false. My own reading of the situation , Kelly, is that you committed to MDM in publication and now feel, consciously or unconsciously called to defend this position ..along with MDM or suffer damage to your professional reputation. This , although I suspect you in your heart have had in private, grave misgivings about MDM. This is not at all the case. I am a Catholic theologian dedicated to researching, analyzing, and reporting on credible Marian and heavenly prophecies, seeking to remain as objective as possible, and always faithful to the Church. I believe I have a calling to this work, though I am gladly open to continued re-examination, as I already told you I did in regard to my developing perspective on the 25 year period of temporary peace. As I have already stated, I have spent much time researching MDM and find her messages as credible and plausible... now more than ever. I think it is precisely due to my attempt to be objective, that I am not swayed by the pressure against her. I have found none of the critiques to establish any actual error in her writings, not one. For me, it is not about opinion and speculation... whether Francis "seems" like the False Prophet, especially when the False Prophet will be the greatest deceiver in history, or whether MDM "seems" credible based on a wink. It is about my work to research, evaluate, and report on solid heavenly messages and prophecies... and as a whole they are pointing me in the direction I am going. In fact, if you take any one source out of my work, MDM included, my writings would not change one bit. This was the point I made way back at the beginning of this conversation. Time will tell more.
Getting back to my statement on the 25 years of peace. It it seems to me, to be quite plausible, that this era comes after the Warning, as it would also be merciful that God would permit a certain period of time after the Warning for discernment and conversion (25 years of peace), prior to the 2nd part of the tribulation [He will not go right from the Warning into the 2nd part of the Tribulation without allowing sufficient time for repentance, evangelization and conversions]. At this point I do not believe Francis to be the False Prophet. I do feel that the Church and world will suffer much during the first part of the tribulation, before the Warning and Miracle as prophesied at Garabandal, and there may well be a false pope at the same time as a valid pope during this FIRST PERIOD: when "The righteous will suffer greatly. Their prayers, their penances and their tears will rise up to Heaven and all of God’s people will beg for forgiveness and mercy and will plead for my help and intercession ....And then Jesus Christ, in an act of His justice and His great mercy will command His angels to have all His enemies put to death. Suddenly, the persecutors of the Church of Jesus Christ and all those given over to sin will perish and the earth will become desert-like... [Kelly, the earth is not yet desert-like! Thus the first part of the Tribulation has not been fulfilled yet]... Charity will flourish everywhere. The new kings will be the right arm of the holy Church, which will be strong, humble, pious, poor but fervent in the imitation of the virtues of Jesus Christ. The Gospel will be preached everywhere and mankind will make great progress in its faith, for there will be unity among the workers of Jesus Christ and man will live in fear of God. But then..........TEMPORARY PEACE: This peace among men will be short-lived. Twenty-five years of plentiful harvests will make them forget that the sins of men are the cause of all the troubles on this earth. Then will come the 2nd part of the Tribulation, "Chastisements from Heaven": as La Sallette and other major prophecies foretold, climaxed by the 3 days of darkness and then the 1000 year Eucharistic Reign of Jesus on earth with his people living in the era of the Divine Will.
I preface my response that I am not a fan of MDM and really know very little about her. However, it is very plausible that the 'False Prophet' (an anti-Pope) will arise within the 1st part of the Tribulation. How can we know who it will be? 1) He will be a pope popular by many lukewarm Catholics and apostate Protestants in the world. 2) He will be a pope who will reject (or water down) Church teaching (especially on morality issues). 3) He will be a pope who succumbs to Relativism (false ecumenism), not true unity in the one, holy, catholic and apostolic church. Pedro Regis, among others, have repeatedly stated that there will be "great confusion within the Church" and "whatever you do, hold on to the truth you have been taught". By these statements, there is only two possible scenario's 1) the pope remains steadfast in his defense of the Church and those around him become apostate or 2) the pope goes apostate along with a large portion of the clergy and 'faithful' and only a few remain within the true faith. Which ever it is, it is apparent that this great confusion will be part of the 1st tribulation. Now we know who the pope of the Catholic Church is today. Seems plausible that either he is martyred in the first part of the tribulation within the destruction of Rome (Blessed Elena's prophecy) and a new valid pope and/or a false pope are elected or, God forbid, he turns into the false prophet that prophecy say's will be manifested within the Church. I pray it is not the latter.
