Have you ever heard of New Balance sneakers? Some of their shoes are made in the US . . .there are other shoe manufacturers in the US. Also, auto manufacturing is coming back to the US. Honda is adding a factory in Ft Wayne, Indiana. Other companies are bringing manufacturing back to the US. Pres Trump also wants to have pharmaceuticals made in the US. He had been talking to Kodak about using their facilities in Rochester, NY before he lost his second election. I am hoping that will be resurrected. He's only been in office since Jan 22, but there are many companies coming back to the US. js
My Whirlpool dishwasher was made in the US. I had to buy a new one at the beginning of COVID and this was one of the only ones I could find.
Cost of living doesn’t support it….I guess new balance will boom My question is why are we talking about US politics on a Catholic website? If Gods hand is on the US or off- we will not know I believe our role here is to grow in faith… during good and bad times watch the signs the Lord has provided…. I certainly see the signs differently then you and many others here… my hope here is for increased faith in our Lord God…. Discussing political beliefs is fruitless to our spirituality Hence, I do not post much! I can assure you… I have had dreams as well that I sought out for discernment from my Catholic pastor… faith… trust…. I will continue to pray for all on this forum
There are threads here that do not contain politics. I appreciate that you posted how you feel. I think we are all trying to grow in faith and stay in a state of grace during trying times. I don’t see how we can separate ourselves from what is happening. St Maximilian Kolbe was put to death in a concentration camp by the Nazis. That’s political. The Lord Jesus lived during a time of political upheaval. There are references to politics throughout the Bible. We live in a fallen world. Peace.
Katfall - FYI- St Maximillian Kolbe church is the church I went to for discernment, interesting you mentioned him.. Gods hand at work
Kclark has a very good point. It is easy to get wrapped up in worldly things. But, underlying people's interest in Trump here is a hope that he will reverse some of the world's abominations; and for this to happen, he needs his policies to succeed as much as possible. Trump is no Catholic and is far too subservient to Zionism, but he has at least removed the policy of abortion as a federal right and he has reduced its promotion internationally (correct me if I'm wrong). He has stopped federal encouragement of transgenderism. In a world going to hell in a handcart, these things mean a lot. Morality is upstream of politics.
All this back and forth, stock prices down and up again, definitely brings substantial returns to large investors. With every tweet, Trump influences stock prices. A few hours before yesterday's 90-day freeze, he wrote, "THIS IS A GREAT TIME TO BUY!!! DJT"...
I think the Lord spoke to this - actually prayed to His Father for all of us : "I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world peace
If faith(religion) and politics are not meant to go hand in hand, then why did God allow man to govern the Earth? Isn't that politics itself? Didn’t God bless kings, as we read in the Bible? Didn’t Jesus constantly engage in conversations with the Pharisees and Sadducees, who were both political and religious leaders of the Jews at that time? Herod and Pilate judged Jesus... Look at the history of the Catholic Church, how many saints were advisors to kings? In the end, we even had holy kings and emperors, martyrs for the faith. The Papal States existed for centuries, up until the last century, primarily as a strong and powerful political state under the leadership of the Popes. The entire Western civilization owes its rules, laws, and constitutions primarily to religious laws and norms. If God gave man the authority to govern the Earth, then man has the duty to understand the processes of governance, but to do so guided by God’s laws. God gives each of us talents—not everyone is meant to be a politician, but everyone can, in their own way, strive to make the place we live better, and to implement or preserve God’s laws. We must live with trust in eternal life and in the fact that God governs everything, but at the same time, while we live on Earth, we must fight for a better, fairer, and more moral world. God seeks cooperation from man, someone who uses their talents, not someone who runs away because such things frighten them too much. We must not give in to pessimism, fear, or place our trust entirely in politicians, earthly leaders, or ideologies, because that leads to perdition. But at the same time, we must be actively involved—if nothing else, then at least through prayer and by voting for those who truly fight for Christian values. This is not just our task; it is our duty as Christians. In order to do that, we must at the very least stay somewhat informed nd not let others determine our fate.
