Tradition or Annihilation

From what I know, the Novus Ordo did not originate with the Council. Like many other aspects of the Council, this issue was hijacked afterwards. The Fathers of the Council, as far as I can remember, recommended some modest changes in the language-vernacular for the Readings, but insisted that the Canon would only be the Roman one of the ages and that it remain in Latin. The Council said nothing about the priest facing the people, communion in the hand, appalling hymns, wreckovating altar rails, sanctuaries and churches or modernist designs of new churches. All this came later and was mendaciously done in the name of VII, itself an overly regarded, minor and now obsolete pastoral council.

I don't think it's really possible at this point to dump the Novus Ordo and go back to the Old Mass without Schism. What is possible is to rehabilitate the Novus Ordo with a much stricter discipline, rigidly enforced. So Communion is the mouth only. The priest facing East. No permission for the priest tinkering with it and so in.

One thing really saddens me is the disrespect for Jesus in the Tabernacle; treating Him as if He were not really there.

But on the other hand the Liturgy and the way priests and Faithful have been taught makes this inevitable. So hopefully the Good Lord makes allowances.

I sometimes hope the way I look at things is because I am older and crankier and did not move with the times. But I think the situation with the Church , at least where I live is truly deeply dire. I am afraid the messages from Our Lady underscore this. To put it bluntly the large majority of people are acting as if God simply does not exist or that if He did exist He counts for nothing. That He does not impact their lives.

Most of today's clergy are about inclusivity (esp paticipation of the faithful), ecumenism (our mass is that of the Church of England; statues must go), "community" (= talk in church) and de-emphasis of the Real Presence (tabernacle aside) for the sake of non-believing protestants.
Most churches here have the priest's 'throne' central; altars are not altars but tables for a communal 'meal'.
One parish I was in forbade rosary before mass and, one priest in my current parish, said rosary after mass disturbed people talking.
The solution is obvious - do the opposite!
I love the TLM but, when all is said and done, venacular is good for understanding what is going on. Returning to traditional practices and architecture is what is needed.
Genuflect [priests PLEASE!] , dress for mass, promote Adoration, Rosary and Stations of the Cross, replace altar rails, put the tabernacle central, priests sacrifice to God, not perform fo.....
Priests must mention Hell [Our Lady showed Hell to the children at Fatima]. It is the devil's greatest triumph convincing he and hell does not exist!
While admiting God is LOVE and all-forgiving, He must, by definition of perfection, be JUST. We do not get to Heaven on our own terms but by the guidance we are given by His Church and the Commandments, by forgiveness of sin IN CONFESSION, not in the beauty of a local forest.
Yes, Latin is good but not the crux of the issue.
As in the title of this thread, it's tradition or bust!
    Modernism is a failure.
By its fruits we know it.
Tradition rcognises the truth, modernism covers it up with false "love"
The church of the Catacombes, the undergrund church, Our Lady's miliant remnant, not the sedevacantists, not the obsessive SSPX adhrants, will save us from anihilation.

I am amazed and very humbled how long it takes me to do a genuflection there days. It is like trying to climb Mount Everest. Trying to get back up again takes me ages and is a real struggle. When I was young I never even had to think about it, up and down in seconds. On the other hand nowadays I have to really think about it and mean it, to commit to it. A great blessing. It occurs to me that doing this is a great witness to others, especially young people.

At one Marian Apparition Site Our Lady was asked to teach them how to say the rosary. At the start Our Blessed Mother went into very great detail about how we are to hold onto the Cross and use it to make the Sign of the Cross very slowly and reverently. It reminded me that if we are faithful in the little things we will be faithful in the great.

I,too, can hardly genuflect, (but many priest aged in their 20s & 30's think a bow is enough! One raises the book above his head after the gospel, but halds the Body of Christ at eye level (as his equal?)
A few people in adjoining parishes [I rarely go locally] kneel to receive on the tongue. I believe they are an inspiration (tho some will call the exhibitionists, eh?)
In my own experience, every example is followed by those who recognise it. I bow my head at the name of Jesus - others follow - I give thanksgiving before the tabernacle if it is set aside - others follow. I move from Station to Station during Stations of the Cross [this Lent] and bow deeply in reverence (others follow)...
I'm far from sainthood, but you get the'drift'
"You actions speak so loud I can't hear a word you are saying" [Emmerson, not scripture, but wisdom self-evident]
Let us lead others to Christ by our Actions !

I loved this quote from a very holy woman and spiritual writer.

God is not a pussy cat, we cannot hold Him on our knees and pet Him.

When we read about God in the Old Testament a kind of reverential awe over takes us. Especially on how we were to treat the Ark of the Covenant, the Holy of Holies. We do now treat God in our Churches very much like a pussy cat. But He is no pussy cat. He does not at all like being treated this way.

I went to a college visit with my son to the Franciscan University of Stuebenville. For all the college visits, they put a noon mass in the itinerary for the day. We were in a big hall for mass because they are renovating the church on campus. It was packed with students. There were mounds of backpacks left in the area outside the hall. These college students received communion most reverently. Many of them received on their knees. Most of them received on the tongue. I was told there are 4 masses per day on campus and all the masses are packed with students. So awesome to see.

The comments of Abishop Strickland at the end:

    I put on
    18:29
Facebook a statement regarding the McElroy
    18:32
    uh appointment and
    18:34
it the best way to frame it I believe is
    18:38
to Simply say mccarrick is back
    18:42
mccarrick really has never left I mean
    18:45
    that's a a devastating reality that I
    18:48
know priest and faithful there in
    18:51
Washington DC and they would totally
    18:53
agree that mcck yeah the big Scandal and
    18:57
    everything supposedly with but cardinal
    19:00
warl cardinal Gregory and now Cardinal
    19:03
McEroy they're continuing the the machine
    19:07
that mccarrick put in place and they're
    19:11
just laughing at all of us who were
    19:14
    concerned because mcelroy he's not
    19:17
ambiguous and I think that's one thing
    19:20
that all of us who are faithful to
    19:22
Christ need to pay attention to yes Pope
    19:24
Francis has kind of play played the game
    19:27
and he's stayed ambiguous was that's why
    19:29
we need to pray for him
    19:32
but Cardinal mcelroy as Bishop of San
    19:35
Diego and now Cardinal and now newly
    19:38
    installed as Cardinal Archbishop of
    19:40
Washington DC he is not ambiguous and as
    19:44
you said I'm glad that bishop papri and
    19:47
others have called him out I even
    19:50
haven't had to speak out so much about
    19:52
mnElroy because finally some other Bishops
    19:55
have said this is heretical you can't
    19:58
say this and be a bishop but that's
    20:01
    where the ambiguity and the
    20:03
    contradiction and the Injustice is
    20:07
because excuse me the uh appointment of
    20:11
    McElroy just
    20:13
    shows
    20:15
    a deaf
    20:16
uncaring Vatican that really people need
    20:21
to just simply say we don't accept this
    20:25
and I'm glad that there have been some
    20:28
protest against McElroy from what I've
    20:31
    understood not well attended his
    20:33
installation I mean some promoted it as
    20:35
if oh lots of people but the pictures I
    20:38
saw look pretty dismal and that needs to
    20:41
continue a a real boycott of this man
    20:45
who is not faithful to the deposit of
    20:49
faith for his sake people need to stand
    20:52
    up

I was counting up the difficulties we as Catholics face at the present moment . There are so many I do not quite know where to start. Huge challenges both within the Church and without. However if things were fine within the Church everything else would seem as nothing. I mean if Secular societies persecute us and they do of course, what does that really matter in the Light of Eternity if Our Holy Mother the Church Herself is on the right Path then everything else will work out. But if the Church herself takes a wrong turn then nothing really work out unless God Himself intervenes to save us.

I think the Key problem we have at the moment within the Church is a real crisis of confidence in Church Governance at every level from the Pope on down to right at the Parish level. Catholics have begun to kind of wake up and ask questions and seek the Truth or a return to the truth and honesty at every level. It is good to ask questions. It is good to seek the Truth. It is good to fight corruption and heresy. But I think that there is a good way of doing this and a bad way of doing it. The main thing for every Catholic is to take the Spiritual Path to Heaven. To save our souls. We must never become distracted from this no matter how bad things are in the Church or the World around us. That is everything. For if we do not save our own souls we cannot save anyone elses. If we cannot through the grace of God change ourselves we cannot hope to change anyone of anything else.

I think very often prominent Catholics forget this. Also of we get into the habit of constant criticism it will be very, very hard to stop it. It will be hard to find the brakes. One thing that stops me saying too much about things is the simple question God asks me and it is this, what good will it do. If I think my speaking out will do some good then I should do it. But if I am only speaking out fro the sake of speaking out then what's the point.

Bishop Strickland is a good example of someone who speaks out and does a lot of good. God is clearly using him as a Prophetic instrument.

On the other hand a person who makes me increasingly uneasy when he speaks out is Archbishop Vigano. There is a stirdency and lack of charity to his statements which makes me wonder.

I wish more people before speaking out would ask themselves the simple question, what good am I doing by this_ if they did there would be a lot more silence and a lot less confusion.

We had our first Children's Rosary on Saturday evening last before vigil Mass and it was a great success. Lots of families turned up with their children and they all participated in the Rosary. We are so happy about that. I think a spark has been lit in Ireland and it's spreading.

I was reading last night a little history of the lives of Saints Jacinta and Francesco of Fatima>

    https://www.catholicworldreport.com...r-and-sister-saints-who-were-seers-at-fatima/

Saint Francesco asked Our Lady if he would be saved, to which she replied that he would but he would have to say many rosaries. At once Francisco replied that he would say as much as she wanted. He did and wound up not only saved but a little saint. Himself and Jacinta the very first child saints in the history of the Church who were not Martyrs. Imagine saints at only 11 and 12 years old, wonderful. What a great example for children who also pray the rosary.

I usually used to say several rosaries a day plus the stations of the Cross but the distraction of coming to another country has thrown me off course a lot, being so busy. But this has been a blessing in a way for when I do get round to saying the rosary I value it ten times more than I usually would. It really is the jewel of great price in my Spiritual Life.

God keeps many tools in his shed. John the Baptist called things as they were and he was the greatest born of women. I am not saying his approach is best, but I think it serves a unique purpose in these times.

Very true, at the same time he has come to the understanding that there is no dialogue that can be had because bad actors have a toxic agenda. His goal appears to me to be exposing that and sensationalism seems to be part of exposing it. I get the sense that he is not acting alone and is something of a spokesperson. A personality with a level of Catholic authority in the social media sphere used to disseminate certain information and provoke conversation, which in turn prompts certain reactions from the Vatican.
