A nice little summary from Robert Moynihan (ed of Inside the Vatican) of the new situation with Russia's active involvement in the Syria situation: 1. Russia in Syria: A Christian power in the Middle East The "Russia in Syria" story is of far different importance -- I will not say of greater or lesser importance, only of different importance -- than the Pope's meetings in America, or the unfolding of this present Synod. What is happening in Syria deserves our attention -- even if we cannot understand what it really means or where it will lead. The Russians, in a way puzzling to me (and, I think, to many), have simply waltzed (or, perhaps better, flown) into the country, with little fanfare (how did they do it?) and now, in a series of dozens of evidently quite accurate bombing sorties based, it seems, on quite good satellite intelligence, now seem likely to sharply curtail the activity and power of the monstrous, head-decapitating ISIS movement, perhaps as soon as in the next few weeks -- though the US efforts to do something similar over the past 18 months have yielded only... meager results. This raises many important geopolitical, geostrategic questions, too many to address here. But three may be mentioned. First, the plight of the Christians in the Middle East may suddenly be less dire, if a powerful, self-declared Christian nation is now entering the scene militarily. Second, OPEC could be split, with consequences for the price of oil, for the global economy, and for the dependence of Europe on Russian as opposed to Saudi Arabian (and neighbors) oil and gas. Third, the flood of immigrants into Europe might begin to crest, and then to subside, meaning, that a solution to the immigration crisis may have been found in this unexpected Russian intervention. Of course, strategists in the US are watching all of this with various levels of interest, surprise, and alarm. Some think the Russians will get bogged down. Some think they have stolen a march and are now in a powerful position. Some think they will stay. Some think they will leave in a few weeks. But what seems clear is that "something" has stirred the Russian bear into activity in a new way, in a new sphere, and the world is different in October than it was in August, for this reason.
Malachi Martin's version of what might be the third secret seemed much more ominous than what was released....that's for sure. And I think Fr. Martin was telling the truth....and Fr. Gruner did agree with Malachi Martin.
The US, now a state sponsered terrorist country has been/is suppying arms, training and military hardware to terrorists in Syria with the sole plan of ousting Assad. They claim it was because he gased his own people which is 100% BS. The gas attacks were proven false and with even modest research you can find this out. The UN deployment finding zero evidence one prime example and the numerous faked gas videos also. The US have ousted leaders in numerous counties without any legal right and Israel is certainly invovled behind the scenes. Now Iraq is asking Russia to come help clean out the terrorist in their country. Russia has stood by as the US has encroached right up to the Russian borders pretending they are on some humanitarian cusade. It's BS. Now the US isn't happy that Russia is blowing up all their hardware and supported terrorists. Something they only pretended to do for months. People that actually think Russia is a threat to the west should, and please do, turn off your TV propaganda news and do some real research for the truth. Russia was invited by the Assad government!!!! The US, NATO, Europe, Israel in the north have not been invited to cross into Syria borders and have no right to dictate who runs any country. Period! After numerous US puppet leaders Russia is finally stopping this BS with Syria and they have every right to by invitation. This doesn't make Putin or Assad a saint, but they sure have a right to defend their countries against Western supported terrorists. Order out of chaos, it's coming from close to home.
I have to say I agree with a lot of what davidtlig and MMM are writing. To me it seemed Syria was had been just left to completely self implode and rot away into a pile of rubble, at least now someone is putting the fight up to those who just destroy and execute, i.e ISIS, AL Nursa and others. Someone who like dividtilg says is possibly going to do something that may help Christians or at least prevent more a complete slaughter. I can not bear to hear that John McCain when he tries to make a case for supplying arms to those trying to topple Assad, McCain is plain evil, greedy and rotten to the core. His strategy was let Syria completely die, everyone dead, hope Russia would not intervene then take all their resources, plain evil and greedy.
There is plenty of evil on both sides of the Syrian conflict. It is one of the diabolical disorientations of our times when the enemy will be a wolf in sheeps clothing. I would hesitate in raising the 'good guy bad guy' flag prematurely.
Some in the U.S. have proposed supplying "their" rebels with surface-to-air missiles. Our experience of this war makes it likely that such SAMs would more likely fall into the wrong hands who would exult in using them upon civilian aircraft. If what Indy says about John McCain is true, I can only agree with his assessment. If that is so, what an appalling choice Americans were offered for president in 2008. Still, this is no excuse for re-electing Obama as the alternative in 2012 seemed less malign.
The US will have their comeuppance now that their evil deeds are being exposed by both Assad and Putin...I am embarrassed by this mess as an American....we have been arming terrorists.
I don't think Putin's intention is to save Christians, his intentions are most certainly also self centered and he is indeed a wolf in wolfs clothing but I still think he will expose and deal with the diabolical nature of Assad's opposing forces. But as it stood Christians were one of the the main loosers something drastic has to happen now it seems.
The smart ones are the Iranian clerics...they will take as much help from Russia. And when their obectives are accomplished they will send Jihad to Russia. Their are lots of muslims currently in Russia.
As our Lady of Fatima warned in 2017: if the consecration of Russia did not take place "the good would be martyred"......well they are!! BREAKING NEWS: 11 Syrian Missionaries Beheaded, Crucified For Faith In Christ October 6, 2015October 6, 2015 by Stefan Bos By Stefan J. Bos, Chief International Correspondent BosNewsLife Islamic State has killed many Christians, missionaries and other sources say. DAMASCUS, SYRIA (BosNewsLife)-- Eleven Syrian Christian missionaries have been killed by beheading and crucifixion near Syria's war-torn city of Aleppo after they refused to deny their faith in Jesus Christ, colleagues told BosNewsLife Tuesday, October 6. The 12-year-old son of "a ministry team leader" was among those murdered last month by militants of the Islamic State group, missionaries confirmed. A mission director who trained the native Christian workers had urged them to flee the region, but they apparently refused to leave. "Every time we talked to them they were always saying: 'We want to stay here – this is what God has told us to do. This is what we want to do',"the official added in a statement released by the Christians' mission group Christian Aid Mission (CAM). "They just wanted to stay and share the Gospel," said the official whose name was not revealed amid security concerns. CHRISTIANS CAPTURED Relatives said Islamic State militants captured the Christian workers in a village in the Aleppo area on August 7. Several weeks later they were asked if they had renounced Islam for Christianity. When the Christians said that they had, the militants demanded that they return to Islam, according to Christians familiar with the situation. However, "the Christians said they would never renounce Christ," CAM told BosNewsLife. The 41-year-old team leader, his young son and two "ministry members in their 20s" were questioned at one village site where Islamic State militants reportedly summoned a crowd. The team leader was targeted as he presided over nine house churches he had helped to establish. His son was two months away from his 13th birthday, Christians said. "All were badly brutalized and then crucified," the mission director explained in remarks seen by BosNewsLife. "They were left on their crosses for two days. 'No one was allowed to remove them." CAM said the Christian "martyrs died beside signs" the militants had put up "identifying them as 'infidels'." WOMEN RAPED Eight other team members, including two women, were taken to another site in the village on August 28 and were asked similar questions in front of a crowd, Christians recalled. The women, ages 29 and 33, reportedly tried to tell the Islamic State militants they "were only sharing the peace and love of Christ and asked what they had done wrong to deserve the abuse." Islamic militants then publicly raped the women, who continued to pray during the ordeal, leading the Islamic State militants to beat them all the more furiously, missionaries said. As the two women and the six men knelt before they were beheaded, they were all praying, according to witnesses. "Villagers said some were praying in the name of Jesus, others said some were praying the Lord's prayer, and others said some of them lifted their heads to commend their spirits to Jesus," the mission director recalled. "One of the women looked up and seemed to be almost smiling as she said, 'Jesus!'" BODIES HUNG After they were beheaded, their bodies were hung on crosses, the ministry director said, his voice breaking, according to a transcript obtained by BosNewsLife. He said he had trained all of the workers for their evangelistic ministry, and he had baptized the team leader and some of the others. CAM expressed concern that at least hundreds of other former Muslims in Syrian villages are in danger of being captured and killed by the Islamic State group, which is fighting to establish a caliphate in which apostasy is punishable by death. "The underground church in the region has mushroomed since June 2014" when the group "began terrorizing those who do not swear allegiance to its caliphate, both non-Muslims and Muslims," CAM added. "Consequently, the potential for large-scale executions has grown along with the gains in Islamic State-controlled territory." Local missionaries assisted by Christian Aid Mission are providing resources and trying to find ways to evacuate targeted families by other routes. Yet many Christian workers also remain in Syria. CAM said it helps local Christian workers who do not or cannot leave with the means to survive and operate their "outreaches". Even those who leave, however, may encounter Islamic militants and other "criminals in refugee camps", said the leader of another mission group that CAM assists. JESUS DREAM He spoke of a Muslim from northern Syria who, like all men in areas that Islamic State takes over, was coerced into joining the caliphate or being killed. The man fled the country after his brother was killed in the fighting. Disillusioned with Islamic State but still adhering to Islam and its teaching that Christians and Jews are unclean "pigs," he went to Amman, Jordan, as he had learned that relatives there were receiving aid from Christians, CAM said . The Muslim, whose name was withheld for security reasons, went to a Christian meeting with the intention of killing the aid workers gathered there, a mission director said. Yet something kept him from following through on his plan, though, "and that night he saw Jesus in a dream," the director added in a statement to BosNewsLife. "The next day he came back and said, 'I came to kill you, but last night I saw Jesus, and I want to know what are you teaching – who is this One who held me up from killing you?'" the director added. "He received Christ with tears, and today he's actually helping in the church, helping out other people," the official added. "We're praying for lots of such Sauls to change to Pauls," the director said, referring to the Biblical Apostle Paul whose name was changed after he ended persecuting Christians. SORROW REMAINS The sorrow of the team leader who lost 11 co-workers and one of their children last month has been deep, but he hopes their faithfulness could help change the hearts of persecutors. "They kept on praying loudly and sharing Jesus until their last breath," he said. "They did this in front of the villagers as a testimony for others." He said he asked Christians for prayer for surviving family members and for himself. "These things have been very hard on me," he stressed. "What wrong did those people do to deserve to die? " Yet, there is hope, he said. "What is happening is more and more people are being saved. The ministry is growing and growing – in the past we used to pray to have one person from a Muslim background come to the Lord. Now there are so many we can barely handle all the work among them."
things are really speeding up....Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord, and may your perpetual light shine upon them.
A harrowing post. Despite the horror, it is heartening to see further evidence of the crack beginning to appear at long last in the hitherto seemingly impregnable edifice of Islam. Ironically, the abomination that is ISIS is leading Muslims to question their religion and producing many martyrs for the Church (some may not be Catholic, but as He is making personal intervention in this spiritual battlefield, these hairs should not be split, I would think).
Revelation 6:9-11 "And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held. And they cried with a loud voice, saying: How long, O Lord (holy and true) dost thou not judge and revenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? And white robes were given to every one of them one; and it was said to them, that they should rest for a little time, till their fellow servants, and their brethren, who are to be slain, even as they, should be filled up."
