Imagine the stupidity and immaturity of that nun. I would be disappointed at a teenager who came out with that. How can one take seriously an alleged adult who cannot perceive that an adult man and an adult woman can have a serious conversation? Not to mention that the man involved is also very God. It shows a distinct inability, on her part, to understand what it is to be human and manages to insult and demean both sexes simultaneously. If this is how the religious are being formed nowadays, it’s little wonder that some of them got involved in sexual abuses.
While there are those who definitely choose Hell some of them have convinced themselves that there is no Hell or that it is empty. That theologian von Balthasar, who was portrayed as a supposed conservative, is the original cause of this damage.
Still, I’d rather be judged by Padre Pio than Hans Urs von Balthasar, thank you very much. I think he’d show me a lot more mercy.
There is a problem with all that is going on at the moment which occurs to me. We are taught that the Pope is infallible in matters of Faith and Morals. What happens if he officially teaches something that is clearly false? Then we would be between a rock and a hard place. Amoris Laetitia. But I suppose we can cross that bridge if we come to it.
Yes, and in the aspects of our life journey. We aren't just living for the sake of living in comfort as you say. We struggle with the angel daily to get the blessing. We struggle against powers and principalities. God moves in us and around us daily. It isn't boring, we keep moving towards the light. There will be pain and sorrow and defeat. But there will also be joy and triumph. Moving in this pressure opens ourselves and helps us to grow. It's the great epic of our lives and God is with us through it all. We need great animators, people who inspire us on our journeys. Synods are nothing but weakness trying to justify itself. The desired outcome to stagnate with the implication that we are too weak to do better. BORING! Not speaking about sin means gives no meaning in life. How are we supposed to move towards the light if we are told darkness and light are the same thing? We aren't here for no reason! As if everything is an accident.
His predecessor already did this, with Amoris Laetitia, as you suggest, but he did it in an accompanying note, which I don’t think fulfils the criteria of infallibility. He did change the Cathechism of the Catholic Church on the matter of capital punishment. I asked ‘Magisterium AI’ and it tells me that the change in the Cathechism is not an example of ex cathedra infallible teaching. When I asked it a few sharp questions about Bergoglio floating close to a heresy, it attempted to defend him by saying that it should be interpreted as a ‘development’ of the previous teaching, prior to 2018. When I took it up that the word ‘inadmissible’ was too definite and required qualification, if it’s to be interpreted as development, the AI finally agreed that Francis’ teaching was too ‘categorical’. So, the official interpretation of Bergoglio’s change of the teaching is an equivocation by the Church authorities. Nothing has really changed and if they admitted that it should be taken at face value, they’d be admitting Pope Francis introduced a heresy into the Cathechism. Now, we just have confusion, at best. But this is probably the closest we have got to official, doctrinal heresy. Then, there’s the activities and symbolism of the Pachamama carry-on. I wouldn’t pay much attention to Pope Leo’s contact with this issue, when he was a young priest, but I am worried about his statement some time back, and I paraphrase (and I hope accurately, but I’m open to correction), about preparing us for a ‘change’ in doctrine. Hopefully, it was a slip of the tongue or a category error on Pope Leo’s part. He surely knows that Doctrine, by its very definition, is immutable. Maybe, I’m being impertinent with what I infer is the issue at stake, but sodomy has always been wrong and nobody, not even the Holy Spirit, can make it right.
It is possible if he intends to do or say something horrific that God will strike him dead on the spot.
I too watch Papal Posse. That's it and it is very upsetting. I pray for the church leaders and thank God we still have good ones. I appreciate all the ones who are speaking out.our priest at Mass this evening asked how many people are aware of the Irish Synodial path. He got no response. He had to read a letter from our bishop on that subject. Nobody is interested. I feel for priests who are caught in the middle of this. I'm praying for them. We can ignore but they are being squeezed.
My son, Fr. Benjamin, explained to me that Pope Francis' marital "escape clause" inspired by Amoris Laetitia was motivated largely by cultural factors prevalent in South America, for what it is worth. Its poisonous attack on the sanctity of marriage has spread in both Europe and America.
We laypeople can be a little lost sometimes. The ideal would be to go to a priest we could trust. But it is not always easy to find someone like this these days. But as regards Papal Infallibility I did notice in the past that there seems to be some disagreement even amongst professional theologians with how exactly we might define it.
There is no excuse for people to live in unions outside of marriage. 99% of marriages in the church where people spend less than 1k do not end up in divorce. Marriage is one of the great epics of life.
My wife is quite epic! Definition:In everyday and internet slang, epic means exceptionally impressive, massive, awesome, or extraordinary... (you can skip "massive").
