In the book God Speaks Will You Listen, one message clearly speaks to the fact that because the 3rd secret of Fatima was not released to the believers, as it was requested from heaven in 1960, God went around the Pope's and revealed his messages directly to the believers themselves through Akita and others going right to the people. Yet even in Akita's dire messages he did not mention the pope, but only cardinals, bishops and priests, although the pope is in essence the bishop of Rome. Some older prophecies as in Marie Julie did mention the pope, not by name, but by title. Perhaps it is still to early in the game for people like Mark Mallet or EWTN or any other faith news resource or evangelization outreach to declare the pope a heretic, as many Tradionalists have done for years now.
We are very fortunate that the Magisterium of the Church consists of Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition along with the hierarchy and that the hierarchy cannot contradict the other two. The two parts of the Magisterium that cannot be changed (Scripture and Tradition) will protect us from falling into error should we ever get an apostate Pope who attempts to make the Church officially teach error.
Yes, Blizzard. I remember when the terrible pedophile scandal broke out I was struck by how we had not upheld our priests in prayer--at least I hadn't. It was a terrible terrible thing, but there were many of us who were asleep at the wheel--laity and bishops and Cardinals. A lot of guilt to go around. Physical and moral agonies aplenty (to quote from LaSalette) And these divisions described in the message, we are seeing it right now. Our Lady of Good Success said "those who should speak will fall silent." I quoted Malachi Martin in an earlier post and I want to clarify that I did not mean to name Pope Frances in any way. I have no clue what is going on in his heart. I have no right to make any judgement about him or anybody else. I fear it sounded as if I was doing that very thing and this is what my confessor has warned of--so I need to set the record straight. My (our?) job is to pray and sacrifice and let God sort it out. To pray always and in every circumstance for His Will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. One of the wonderful priests on Sensus Fidellium has said to stay away from the news from Rome and just keep praying--especially the Rosary and stay very close to the Sacraments. Also he tells of the days of Noah as explained in the Midrash--a commentary of ancient Rabbis on the book of Genesis. The Rabbis said that the sin that brought the Flood was men writing marriage contracts with other men and with animals. And he said "we're there, folks. We're there."
According to the National Catholic Register, Maria Divine Mercy claims that Pope Benedict was the last pope, the next pope would be the false prophet, and her role is to prepare people for the 2nd coming of Christ. A devout, holy woman at my church some years ago recommended a book by the theologian, Kelly Bowring. While I never read it, I believe Maria Divine Mercy is one of the primary seers he references in laying out a map of the future. Mr. Bowring has an interesting website and blog. He was one of the people that I thought was way out there, especially in his criticism of Pope Francis. Now, I think he may be right.
For goodness sake, please stay away from Maria Divine Mercy and anyone who would recommend her. She's a classic example of the reason it is very unwise to follow "prophets", "seers" or "locutionists" who have not received official Church approval. Even after her nonsense has been exposed, she is still being cited as someone with prophetic insights. While the people who followed and promoted her messages have moved on, the damage done by their supporting her may never be undone.
What difficult , difficult times. It reminds me of Shakespeare, 'Oh what wicked web we weave, when first we practice to deceive.' At least God knows what is going on even if we poor mortals don't. I was praying to the Lord today and praising Him for working everything out so well and I heard Him laugh and say, 'Of course I know, I'm God'. It's in God's Hands. A safe steersman. But I am sure even the angels are puzzled. Oh well He does not have to explain all His doings to us.
Yes, stay away from MDM and any any alleged messenger that speaks contrary to scripture or tradition, but "do not despise prophecy, but test everything". No where in scripture or tradition is there any suggestion to needing "church approval" before one discerns an alleged message. In doing so, Fatima, Lourdes, LaSallette, Kibeho, Akita etc... would have had no one to witness the miracles that took place there had they stayed away from them until they received church approval. There is no doubt heaven is speaking loudly today through several messengers. It seems to be the only way we know the "moment" we are in and it has always been God's way from the beginning and he promised in scripture to speak to our times as well.
The problem the Church faces in 2017 is so few know what can change and not change in the Church. Most couldn't tell you the difference between a doctrine that can't change and a church discipline that can and sometimes does change. Many of the clergy at its highest level, who know better, have no problem going along with the world and false mercy being proposed by the highest authorities in the church. Herein is why the false prophet and the antichrist will rise to power in out time. Technology to deceive (micro-chip) and an ignorant lot of baptized Christians is all that the AC and false prophet needed to control the hearts and will of mankind. All that needs to take place now is the global collapse of governments, societies and economic system via war or astronomical events (or both) and the world we knew is gone forever.
You're right that there's nothing in scripture about waiting for Church approval of prophecies. People didn't need to promote Fatima as genuine for them to witness the miracle. The witness of the sceptics served to underscore its validity. Some false prophets are clever enough to align their messages with scripture in the early stages and only go off in a tangent after they have gathered a following from people who don't have the knowledge or ability to discern the validity of the messages. There are enough approved prophecies to let us see that the future is not rosy for the faithful. It's more important for us Catholics to learn the faith than to follow self-proclaimed prophets. When God wants to get our attention, we will know it. Like all prophecy and prophets, we should take the good and discard the rest but I believe that it is foolhardy to promote anyone claiming that Heaven is sending them messages if our only means of discerning their validity is second hand information or having a favourable impression of the prophet or apparition site. We need to be extremely cautious, otherwise there will be a proliferation of MDM's to the stage that people will become so prophet-weary that when the real deal comes along nobody will pay attention.
The world we grew up in is already gone, perhaps forever unless there is intervention from above. We're still a long way from the kind of mass persecution suffered by Christians in bygone years so I believe that it's early days yet to identify the False Prophet of Revelation. Jesus promised that He would send the Holy Spirit to safeguard the Church from teaching error. Sometimes the Holy Spirit works through a group of the faithful, sometimes through lowly clerics and sometimes through members of the hierarchy. Right now, I believe that the Holy Spirit is working through four Cardinals and some other prelates who have endorsed, even indirectly, their attempt to protect the faith. When the final False Prophet arrives, God will see to it that those who truly believe will be able to tell when their ears are being tickled. I don't believe that micro chips will have anything to do with the mark of the beast.
I have a lot of doubt. And there is a huge difference between despising prophecy and despising alleged prophecy.HUGE.
You're probably right. I haven't and won't read her writings; nor do I read anyone else's because it seems like a bottomless pit of trying to figure out what the future holds. I just thought maybe this Kelly Bowring was reputable, but I don't know that either. I really appreciate this forum because many of you are very knowledgeable and bring a solid perspective to events within the church. That's a very valuable service right now as the goings on within the Church are becoming more disconcerting by the day.
Pope Francis is in need of a Damascus moment I think. I am a terrible sinner but to see the head of the Church encouraging unimaginable things regarding the sacrament of Confession, Marriage and the Holy Eucharist is painful to watch . I changed my Avatar to say I believe The Lord is present in the Consecrated Host and should be approached with the glory and honour He deserves no matter which Priest says what
Please explain the differences as you see it. From my view prophecy is the way God has always spoken his plans to his people. Discernment is essential, no doubt, and perhaps this is a bottle led for most. However, this does not keep God from revealing his plans through his messengers.
I think if we do as we are told and not despise prophecy,we would not put much time into new prophecy. Because heaven has spoken to us and we know this is the time of diabolical disorientation,we know this is time to beware of false Christs and we know this is the time the wrath of Satan is no longer restrained; the Spirit of God is withdrawn from the earth, the Church will be left a widow, behold the funeral drape, She will be left to the mercy of the world. To be chasing messengers today is to despise prophecy. Thats my thought.
Mac, Apparently Our Lady of all Nations of Amsterdam, as reported to Ida Perrdeman in 1945 to 1959 is approved by the church! After having read through the entire messages, all I can say is I am bewildered by an immense number of things...... Would Our Lady really speak this way? Would she want to be known as Our Lady of all Nations "who once was Mary"? Would she state that the church is to use modern means to understand? And there are a lot of other things that are confusing to say the least!. On the other hand Our Lady did state some beautiful truths and is depicted in the same way, [before the cross, and standing on the globe, with arms outstretched] at Akita and there are other striking similarities with Akita. What are your thoughts on "Our Lady of all nations"?
I think the initial ruling was correct. The Dutch Bishop in 1996 had no evidence to over rule the original decision. He just said he saw good fruits. What do good fruits mean to a modern Dutch Bishop? About 1% of the dutch even bother going to church.
