So interesting! What terrible times we live in; but so interesting. Like an adventure movie. I keep wondering what will happen next/ Edge of seat stuff. Amazing.

Nobody injured as fragments fell from ceiling of St Peter's.
Fragments from the ceiling of St Peter's Basilica fell to the ground during a Mass celebrated by Pope Francis on the afternoon of 4 October.

There was nobody injured in the incident, which occurred to the left of the high altar as the pontiff presided over the episcopal ordination of four new bishops.

Well the first one is a Jesuit, ultra Liberal, madly pro Francis ; tapped to become a Cardinal and future Pope, in charge of Migrant and Global Warming issues.

No wonder the ceiling fell in. It's a wonder the entire roof didn't collapse.
Oh dear Lord not another Jesuit Pope; it would just about kill me.

    Pregnancy.

    Fecundity.

I've known "fruitfulness" and pregnancy to be lauded in such cultures (still today).

So how does this square with Pope Francis' flirting with the notion of abortion as being okay?

Are his South American guests in the garden on board with "abortion on demand"? Or would it offend their respect for pregnancy / fecundity?

I've seen (elsewhere) news of a statue of Our Blessed Mother offending pro-abortion folks at a Catholic art festival. Would these Pagan pregnant women images offend them too??

It has become a never ending drama. As soon as I saw the story about the ceiling at St.Peter's on Twitter last night, I figured it must have been a warning. Unless we are blessed with a Devine intervention it seems likely that our troubles will march on.
    Batten down the hatches!

While it is laudable to support the notion of fecundity and it has always been the teaching of the Church (Genesis tells us to 'go forth and multiply'), it does not justify the worship of the pregnant woman, as her pregnant womb is not a consequence of her own power but a gift from God. The Church needs to divert these positive feelings of respect for life towards their proper source, not entertain them on their own terms.

Probably to legitimise them, getting the defence in early for when they elect Francis 11.

Here's a bit more of a description of that ceremony in the Vatican Gardens. It was posted by someone in the comments section of the CNA video and includes links to another two videos, one of them the Vatican's film of the full ceremony (over an hour long):

I should clarify why what the Holy Father did at this event is a problem. if you look at pictures of the event

    http://w2.vatican.va/content/francesco/en/events/event.dir.html/content/vaticanevents/en/2019/10/4/festa-sanfrancesco.html

there were two pregnant naked female figurines on the round blanket. Not one, two. The Blessed Virgin is one person, she never appears or is depicted naked.
Nor is she some Hindu goddess that manifests in multiple persons. In any case, there is no such ambiguity here. The worshipers explicitly call the figurines Pacahmama, and Pachamama is an Inca fertility goddess. They prostrate themselves before the figurines - which would be inappropriate if they were venerating the Blessed Virgin - and perform rituals - like digging a hole, then offering the idols dirt, then venerating the dirt - that are traditional acts of Pachamama worship:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pachamama

Further, the speakers at the event weren't speaking of the Blessed Virgin, but instead repeatedly of "madre tierra" or "mother earth." They all repeatedly speak of the "cosmos" and Peter Cardinal Turkson even speaks of bringing "order out of chaos" (see video below @ 25:50) - All of which smacks of pantheism and masonry ("ordo ab chao" is a famous masonic motto)..

At 6:13 the Franciscan with the great groovy stoner hair says that the two figurines at the center of "the mandala" - note that a mandala is a circular Buddhist image depicting the universe - represent water and the earth, not the Blessed Virgin. All of this utterly unacceptable. It's pantheistic and pagan. It's evil. Point final, punto final, full stop.

Looks like the figure of "Our Lady of the Amazon" is a pagan goddess.

The Franciscan monk needs a scissors, a low-carb diet and a Catechism. Vatican city would benefit from an exorcism. And we need to pray that Cardinal Turkson isn't elected Francis 11.

Q: What's the difference between an apostate Jesuit and an apostate Franciscan?

    A. The Jesuit believes he is God and the Franciscan believes the earth is God

Hi folks. Just to let you know about my new business that is currently up and running. It’s the world’s first catholic eco pilgrimage company, called Jungles for Jesus. For our very first pilgrimage we will be visiting Lourdes. Upon arrival at Lourdes we will go directly to the Pyrenees mountains to pay homage to the spirits of the mountains followed by a visit to the gorgeous pine forest to plant some trees in order to offset the carbon emissions of our flight and again celebrate the spirits of the forest. This is your opportunity to partake in reconciliation. Trees (season depending) will be available to apologise to and counselling with a fully accredited environmental elder will be offered. You will be able to leave petitions in the forest.

In the afternoon there will be time for personal development by getting in touch with the cosmic consciousness. This is instead of mass. For those who wish to attend mass at some stage, well....we will get back to you on that. A Vatican approved speaker is being lined up and at time of writing is traveling by eco friendly canoe from Italy to the river Gave in Lourdes. When he arrives he will signal with a flare; mobile phones are not used as they use rare earth metals which are highly polluting.

After this it’s back to the hotel for dinner (vegan) and an evening viewing of The Blue Planet followed by a short yoga session to de stress before bedtime. It’s been decided not to visit the grotto of the apparition as it is very environmentally unfriendly; all these people filling PLASTIC bottles and containers along all that water splashing everywhere being wasted plus it’s an outrage to witness all the carbon emissions from the candles that people light stay tuned for day 2’s itinerary...

Thank you for this info Dolours. In my mind I had been trying to give the people in the video the benefit of the doubt. That perhaps we, as outside onlookers, were simply looking at some sort of interpretation of biblical events we did not understand. The fact that they were calling the figures the name of a pagan goddess (read that "demon") seals it for me. So they have opened the Synod on the Amazon with a pagan ritual invoking a "god of the gentiles". Ok. Great.

I wonder what St. Paul would say...

I would love to know how anything Francis did in that ceremony with naked women and pagans gathered around is any different than that of JPII or Benedict?

It was inside the Vatican for one.
I think that holds great significance.

I take your point though. This is the ultimate end of the road to the kind of ecumenism the Vatican has been espousing for the past 50 years.

It was a comment from someone on the youtube channel where the video was posted, so I don't know how accurate it is. According to the Catholic World Report, "A representative from the Vatican Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development said after the event that the dicastery’s officials were invited to attend the event, but neither orgnized nor promoted it". Looks like it was a joint Jesuit/Franciscan effort. According to some reports, no explanation was provided by the event organizers as to why the dance was performed for the Feast of St. Francis or what it symbolized. All the Vatican dignitaries, including the Pope, seem to have a printed guideline or maybe a translation of what was happening.

In fairness to Pope Francis, he doesn't seem to know how he's supposed to interact with the reps of the indigenous people. And he did pray the Our Father. I think that he should also have prayed the Creed and then grabbed the Franciscan by the scruff of the neck, hauled him into St. Peter's, have him prostrate himself before the tabernacle and recite the creed over and over until he got it into his thick head what Catholics profess to believe.

I had prayed so hard on Friday for the Synod to do the will of God, for Pope Francis to issue an unambiguous Apostolic Exhortation and for me to have the grace to understand and accept it as God's will. I actually went to two Masses including a TLM. That the Holy Father confined his contribution to praying the Our Father leaves me with a glimmer of hope that the pagan ceremony was his Damascene conversion. When I read about the bits of ceiling falling during the Cardinals' ceremony, I immediately thought it must have been caused by vibration from St. Peter's relics spinning in his grave. The Vatican will probably blame it on pollution or climate change. Please God, the Vatican has enough money to repair it, otherwise German money could buy yet another so-called development of Doctrine.

Here's what Fr. Longnecker had to say about the event: https://dwightlongenecker.com/jesuit-missionaries-and-that-weird-tree-planting-ceremony/

Thanks Dolours. Excellent article by Fr. Longenecker. I have no problem with the indigenous cultures per se. Actually I love studying the cultural diversity of different parts of the world. For example, I think some of the feathered headdresses they wore are very interesting and beautiful. I have no idea though what they represent. Usually these types of ceremonial things have meaning and aren't just for fun. Do each of the feathers call on a different "god"? I don't know. If that were the case they would not only be inappropriate, but evil.

We do have to be careful we are not just bashing on a certain cultural trait we don't understand. I read recently that when the crusaders sent out from Western Europe arrived in the Eastern Catholic churches they destroyed them because they did not recognize them for what they were. That being said, all signs point to the ritual in the Vatican gardens being troublesome. Especially without explanation given.

I found it really weird watching that ritual with the tree in the Vatican Gardens with the Pope sitting there. It just rendered me speechless (which isn't like me). I don't know what to say about it, it just 'seemed totally weird like something from Star Trek. I can't understand it so I can't even condemn it.

Head scratching time. Maybe if I'd had quite a few drinks and been there I might have joined in and done an Irish Jig. Who knows? Why not? Everyone including the Holy Father seemed to be having a high old time.:) Some kind of weird picnic thingy. Fun.

Did anyone who was there actually understand it? Well I hope so. But my guess everyone understood it in a different way. In other words it meant just whatever you wanted it to mean. Which is just another way of saying it did not mean anything at all. Just a kind of liturgical Acid Trip. Spaced out. Cool man. Chill. Trees, Mandela , Spaced out. Way out there. Whatever.

Well I suppose if keeps them all happy.:):) Bless them.:)

I wonder if I tried this in my garden next year if it might help my tomatoes? They didn't do well this year.;)

Loved the two naked women at the center. Nice touch. Pass the joint man.

…16They provoked His jealousy with foreign gods; they enraged Him with abominations. 17They sacrificed to demons, not to God, to gods they had not known, to newly arrived gods, which your fathers did not fear. 18You ignored the Rock who brought you forth; you forgot the God who gave you birth.…
