    Well, if that is your answer, then you will decide to follow your own 'discernment' and will stop following the Church led by Peter. Your choice.

    If any man is leading one in error and serious sin then you had best not follow them to hell for all eternity. Pray God that Pope Francis comes around from his false compassion and adhere' s to what God and his son Jesus have explicitly spoken on aduterly in lieu of what the devil is whispering in one's social justice ear. The pope is not infallible when not speaking what has always been held. Yes, the Pope like us all is a sinner and he too can sin gravely. This is why one must follow the unchanging truths of the faith and not spin what has been well defined by the Church for 2000 years.

    As I am sure you are aware David, Church teaching is that if there is a conflict of teaching between two Papal writings of equal magisterial weight then the older one is always used. In this case Amoris Laetitia and Familiaris Consortio. Two Papal Apostolic Exhortations which are of the same weight magisterially.

    The older of these two, Pope St. John Paul II's Familiaris Consortio is clear and teaches that the civilly divorced and remarried cannot receive Holy Communion unless they live as brother and sister. Clear as a bell.

    The newer of the two, Pope Francis' Amoris Laetitia is ambiguous at best. There is no clear ruling either way, hence all of the confusion of the last year. Even if it was clear, we must still hold to the older teaching. This is Church teaching. We do not have an option here. So if you are honestly looking to follow what the magisterium of the Church teaches then Familiaris Consortio is the Exhortation you need to follow.

    Cardinal Burke sent to Guam. Gee, do you think someone is trying to get rid of him? We need to pray for this brave cardinal who is doing his best to protect the Church and its members.

    From the Guam Daily Post:

    A tribunal from the Vatican, which will be led by a cardinal, is scheduled to hold a secret hearing on Guam this week to speak to at least one of the victims accusing Archbishop Anthony Apuron of sexual abuse.

    Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke, a canon lawyer and former head of the Vatican’s supreme court, signed a decree on Feb. 3, 2017, requesting that one of Apuron’s accusers, Roland Sondia, appear personally before Burke later this week on Guam.

    The cardinal wrote the decree “in fulfilling the office of judge.”

    And how do you know who is at peace within? I assure you that I am at total peace in adhering to God's 6th commandment, which Jesus vehemently confirmed and 2000 years of Church teaching confirms, including Saint John Paul II, who stated that the church has no authority to change as it comes from scripture.

    When one defends the unchanging truth as I am doing, it has nothing to do with anger, but love for God's truth. No one will insult me at the least for being called angry, Pharisee or or any other childish name calling, cause I pity them that cannot stay with the unchanging doctrines of the faith and I pray for all and will warn all who dare usurp God' s laws.

    I promise to make this a final response on this particular point...:)

    Both the above replies are avoiding the question. You both have a million reasons why you believe you are right and Pope Francis and his friends are wrong but just repeating some of your reasons is not facing up to the question.

    The question is that there is clearly a division of opinion on this matter. The Catholic Church has Peter to decide such matters. You only have two choices. You follow the Church led by Peter or you follow a different church.

    This is what you always do David. You disappear when you cannot answer facts.
    Cardinal Muller the head of the CDF, whose job it is to interpret these things has said exactly what I just did.
    I follow Peter and the Magisterium of the Church.
    Peter has spoken. Just because Saint Pope John Paul II is dead does not make him any less a Pope.
    His teachings, in line with what the Church has always taught, are still in force.

    "Peter" is not infallible when he changes church doctrine. That is why you should follow what scripture and the constant magisterial teachings on this subject say.

    The last person on earth you, Brian or anyone else needs explaining that you pray is someone who suggests that you can't be praying as much as him/her. That kind of pharisee and publican attitude shouldn't be indulged. And on a forum dedicated to the mother of God!

    Oh well, if you don't want me to disappear....:)

    I am specifically not going to get into the endless disagreements on why Francis is right or wrong. The point I am making is that that there is a division of opinion on the matter. Cardinal Muller finds himself (apparently) on one side, with Francis and many bishops and cardinals on the other side. His views are his own and they are not the views of the CDF.

    I can no longer stop myself posting this powerful message from True Life in God in 1988:

    I am; pray for the renewal of My Church; pray for those souls who oppose Peter, pray for those who are trying to silence Peter; the days now are numbered and My Soul is submerged in sorrow; My Sacred Heart is imbued with bitterness, My Soul is yearning for them to realise their Error;

    those that oppose Peter are opposing My Church, they are opposing My Law, they are opposing Me, their Lord and God; they are condemning Peter-of-My-lambs, thus condemning My Law; blinded by Vanity himself they do not see clear anymore that by condemning Peter they are not following the Law but instead become judges of My Law! O listen to what the Spirit says to the Church! return; come back, beloved one*; it is I, the Lord, who have selected Peter, Peter who today bears the name, John Paul II; I am telling you, beloved one, My Sacred Heart has chosen him; come back, reconcile for My sake, beloved; I, the Lord, will forgive your sins and will purify you;

    RETURN! return all of you to Peter for it is I, your God, who has chosen him; it is I who have given him a disciple's tongue, and through Me he is able to reply to the weary; oh, creation! is there no more wisdom left in you? creation! you are failing to appreciate My Fathomless Love I have for you, and yet, I answer to everyone who invokes Me; I am with you when you are in trouble, I am your Refuge;

    No I'd rather have you face the facts I pointed out rather than come back with a random message from an unapproved seer.

    By the way I didn't know Archbishop Lefebvre approved of her.

    Not random Praetorian. Very specific!

    And no, Archbishop Lefebvre didn't approve of her but isn't it interesting that just as the traditionalists are walking away from the Pope, the SSPX people seem to be close to rejoining the Church....

    Who but a progressive would have ever considered that God's commandment on adultery would need to be interpreted? Even after Jesus confirmed what his Father gave in the 6th commandment. If the Father was wrong I am sure the Son would have been the one to clarify and not leave it up to a progressive pope 2000 years later.

    Interesting to note that this message was in St John Paul era when the progressives were at odds with him. The same saintly pope that stated that man has no authority to give communion to a divorced and remarried person as scripture itself attest to. Seems it was not just back then that people were not listening to this saintly pope, they still are rejecting his magisterial teaching on adultery.

    I think if people spent more time studying the approved Marian apparitions and the prophecies of the Saints rather than the cloud of unapproved seers that the devil is sending to obscure our vision then they would know exactly what is going on.

    Yes some of the seers today might be real but we have no way of knowing. Jesus, Mary and the Saints have told us all we need to know in exacting detail. The time grows short. The hour is late.

    If anyone is confused please go study something like Our Lady of Good Success in Quito rather than an unapproved source. Please for the sake of your souls.

    Not only on adultery. They are also rejecting his magisterial teaching on conscience.

    They would have us believe that the Holy Spirit is schizophrenic.

    Yes Dolours this is something I worry about as well. The new buzzword is "conscience".

    Catholics are not supposed to follow our consciences. We are supposed to follow our well-formed consciences. A well-formed conscience is one in line with Church teaching. Many people are unaware of this because of poor catechesis.

    The modernists like to leave out that "well-formed" part, but it is the most important part.

    If we are only supposed to follow our consciences then what of sociopaths or psychopaths? Or other people who feel no guilt? Are they supposed "follow their conscience?"

    In some societies slavery is okay or multiple wives, hence people born into these cultures would see nothing wrong with these activities. They would seem "normal". Are they supposed "follow their conscience?"

    No. We are supposed to bring our behavior into line with what the Church teaches is right and wrong.

    Well, I can't see how the Holy Spirit, third person of the triune God who is the same yesterday, today and always, can have had a sudden change of mind (a couple of decades out of 2000 years is sudden). There must be two Holy Spirits and since we are now being told that the current Pope's teaching must be superimposed on all prior Church teaching, perhaps this can be squared away by a declaration that there are more than three persons in the one God. What's the word for four-in-one? Quadune? That doesn't trip off the tongue so easily.

    The Holy Spirit guided Pope John Paul to say that Communion for people living in adulterous unions would scandalise the faithful (among other things). There must be another Holy Spirit now guiding Pope Francis to say that not giving them Communion would lead them to further unspecified sins. The same Holy Spirit has guided Pope Francis to say that same sex unions are a no-no. But at least one Cardinal is saying that the Church should perform some kind of blessing of same sex unions without calling it marriage. Should that Cardinal get to succeed Pope Francis, will there be a new Holy Spirit guiding him on matters pertaining to Church recognition of same sex unions? That would make five persons in one God. Quintune?

    I can't see all of this going on much longer.
    We are One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic.
    We cannot be if every diocese has different mortal sins.
