Absolution absolves one of sin regardless of whether or not someone does their penance. However, if someone deliberately does not perform a penance, it should be confessed.
That is what I always used to think, but that is not what Fr.Hardon said the Teaching of the Church is in the link I attached.
I admit to being somewhat baffled by good, devout holy Catholics who do not have any problem with the current Pontificate. It seems bizarre to me. Just yesterday a friend a very devout Catholic who I met at Daily Mass called me, 'Dyed in the wool' for questioning the Holy Father. Many of these people are not what you might call Liberals, just ordinary good Catholics who are very happy with things as they are. I don't feel called to argue with them; where would you even start? Perhaps indeed when Ignorance is bliss its foolish to be wise. Sometimes I wish I were ignorant myself. Blissful.
We still have two? Was it Ratzinger who bandied about the idea of a bifurcated Papacy? Come on. I can sign my name any way I want. And Windswept House is a NOVEL. Please.
I agree that it is “hard to take a stance on these matters as ultimately we don’t know”. That’s prudent. There are some folks, however, who are not prudent. They can be found all over the internet. It might be simplistic to draw conclusions based on a work of "faction." Convenient that the author is not around to discuss his work. We have many prophecies given, and we haven't witnessed much of the fulfillment of the prophecies. Even when we do, if we are alive, who will interpret? I totally agree with you that there is an agenda, and that is actually Scriptural. St. Kolbe is a true Knight of the Immaculata. No doubt about it. What I disagree with is the simplistic notion of shoes and signatures. It sounds to me like a Nancy Drew mystery. And you didn't address the cockamamie idea that is attributed to the early Ratzinger of a bifurcated Papacy. I mean, what is that? It certainly does not reflect what Jesus intended for the successors of Peter. So I will just go along and pray for Pope Francis and PE Benedict. And say many rosaries and wait for the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart. Thank you for your input, as always. You are a gentleman.
I think this particular subject is like what we call "the third rail." Step on it and get electrocuted. for peace of mind and soul I just dont touch it. Much easier to let God sort it out and He will. Cling to the Blessed Mother. Consecrate yourself to her Immaculate Heart if you havent already done so and pray the Rosary every day for the Church to be rescued and restored. Our Lady will not let us lose our way. She has promised!!!!
SG, I always prefer to listen to Cardinal Burke and the other clergymen who are fighting for the Church as opposed to many of the layman but the George Weigel interview is good also. I re-watched the whole episode with my husband yesterday because I think it is that good and since my husband is not a member here the video quickly brought him up to date. *** Frank, I have not read Windswept House yet but because it keeps coming up time and time again on the forum I may read it now. I am curious about "faction" in regard to the book and I have a few questions for you if you don't mind. The book was written in 1998 while Saint Pope JPII was pope and I think I understand that some of the book occurs prior to 1998, like the satanic ritual with the intent to have a pope abdicate but if Pope Benedict is that pope then the book is 80-90% based on fact because of the intent, iow, their plot to do this. I am not sure that I am being clear, I hope that I am. Iow, the book is not entirely historical, correct? I mean Malachi Martin did not know who all the players would be when this plot came to fruition, correct? I also what to ask if Malachi Martin believes that he received some insight from God and included that in the book too or if Malachi Martin stated that some of the information in the book comes from the 3rd secret? I doubt that there would be fine details in the 3rd secret but I'm not certain, of course. Since Malachi Martin mentions a Slavic pope do you think that he thought that this plot would have occurred sooner, when JPII was pope? I do find the book to be very interesting. Thank you in advance for your insight. Mainly, I am trying to understand what he meant by faction since the book was written about mainly future events, correct? Well, thanks again. Edited to add: I forgot to address what you stated about this thread, I felt the same way for awhile but many of us also post positive things on this thread about the clergymen and laymen who are fighting for the orthodoxy of the Church. This helps me find peace with everything that is occurring right now, maybe that would help you too idk.
I think this puts it perfectly. I really really just wanted to provide some words of comfort, per my earlier posts. I don't want to get into the details of it because I don't know details. I don't know anything I can only read. But I may be wrong. For example, recently someone found out on this forum that Pope Benedict didn't sign with Emeritus but with PP. But I am making too much of it maybe? I said earlier that I don't want to get into a debate. Then why am I writing so much? I should zip up. Please please forgive me I love this forum.
Dont zip up!!!! Your input is valuable. Seriously. Maybe electrocuted was too strong a word. what I meant was it triggers very strong feelings pro and con. A lot of high wind. But malachi Martin did state that the luciferians in the Vatican had a plan to take over the papacy but had not yet succeeded (as of 1998) He went on to say that if they succeeded it would be a terrible time for the Church. That it would test the faith of Catherine of Siena!! So....we are living in dangerous times. Complete surrender to Christ and trust in Him is what we've got to navigate these treacherous seas. As Garabandal said it's making us seasick.
Frank, I honestly didn't mean to appear to be challenging you. I just want to understand more about Windswept House before I read it. In addition, I don't think that I am too far from your thinking but I am trying to remain as patient as possible. I believe that this is what God wants us to do, be patient. I think that it is all we can do besides discuss these things and pray. *** AED, I know that you read Windswept House too, can you possibly answer my questions? Do you think that the following is accurate? According to Martin, 95% of events in the book are real, and 85% of the characters are real people.[1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windswept_House:_A_Vatican_Novel I have not read through that link to the footnote completely yet but since it is only now that a pope has abdicated it is difficult for me to understand this statement. Maybe a better term would be that there would be an attempt to usurp the papacy one way or another. This is what the St. Gallen's group attempted to do when JPII died, correct? I am going to try and read the book, that might help me understand better. Do you think that Malachi Martin might have been writing about the St. Gallen's group (mafia)? That would make sense to me, maybe they tried to get JPII to abdicate and then they tried to control the conclave which ended up electing Pope Benedict and finally they got their man in Pope Francis by soliciting votes for him, idk either. Since, I read the Dictator Pope this seems plausible. I forget who said it recently but it appears that since there have been other questionable conclaves in the history of the Church there is nothing that can be done but to be patient.
When I get some time I will take a deep dive with this Carol. These are good questions. I must go back and reread and refresh my memory. (Right now I am slicing rhubarb to make into pies so not thinking too acutely. Give me a few hours and I'll get back to you.
Hi Carol. I had a couple in depth conversations withMartin and one of the three collaborators of Windswept House was my spiritual director. Yes, it is 95 % true. It is a type of writing called "faction." The names have been slightly altered. Much of the info came from Fr Alfred Kunz, a top canon lawyer in the US and fighting to expose all, and Fr Charles Fiore who helped a friend of mine in the diocese of Chicago. I have confirmed the players in the book. The late Cardinal Martini, PF hero, was the leader of the masonic/satanic cabal in the vatican. Most likely the St Gallen mafia. You can get all the real names on the internet somewhere. I lived through and knew most of the players in the diocese of Centercity, Chicago. Bernadine is Leopardine, etc. Hope this helps.
Also, the satanic ceremony also occurred. Roman Catolic Faithful was in contact and had a personal acknowledgement/letter from the girl/woman at the center of the ceremony and she is credible.
IMO this is a book worth reading and I do believe that there is a significant amount of truth to much of it. That said, I think most everything Mr Martin wrote should be taken with a large grain of salt as to it's overall truthfulness and especially to the conclusions it leads one toward. There was an article written in Look Magazine in 1966 that speaks to this a bit titled How the Jews Changed Catholic Thinking. Mr Martin is referenced in it around 3/4 of the way through it or so under some of his various sudonyms.. Pushkin, Michael Serafian, Fitzharris O‟Boyle. It is worth a read.
