It seems the majority of their talks I’ve listened to were either homilies or recorded during parish missions or retreats. In that context their sober approach given our times seems appropriate.

Raymond Arroyo is a Spiritual Child of Mother Angleica , hence he shares in a portion of her charisms. One of which is joy and another Prophecy and another Strength of Spirit and Leadership.

God bless them all at EWTN.

There was a very famous Passionist Preacher in Ireland called Fr Ignatious Spencer. I think he was a distant ancestor of of Princess Diana and a Protestant convert. Anyway here was one of his party tricks.

Picture a darkend huge large Church in Dublin, no electricity back in those days the Church full to the brim with people to the rafters lit by gas light and candle light. Six religious in dark robes slowly walk up the aisle carrying a coffin, it is a retreat/mission and the great Irish crowd stare perplexed. What is going on? What's with the coffin?

They lay the coffin on some stand beneath the altar. All is silence. Suddenly with a Great Bang the coffin burst open and Fr Iggy shoots out standing erect! he shouts at the amazed and shocked congregation point at them,

    "
Where I am now soon you will be too!'

Screams . Heart attacks. Pandemonium. Utter horror. Folks fainting in their droves.

    Lol:D:D:D:eek:

I think a good communicator is a bit like an artist and uses both dark colours and more sombre ones. With the saints we cans ee this; St BErnadette was a riot with her comments ; I think Our Lady must have doubled over sometimes in her company in that little cave in the Massabielle. By all reports St Phillip Neri never stopped laughing. Padre Pio at leisure time in San Giovanni Rotundo kept the whole place smiling and laughing.

One modern commentator who had the light touch is Steve Skopjac from One Peter Five. He has this graced joyous touch. I love this.

But I suppose it is a matter of taste.

Indeed, they have such a large network and so much money as a result of their embracing the prevailing world mentality. It is clearly the mystery of iniquity working its way into the Church, at full steam now!

The irony will not be lost on Satan. The Jesuits; a tool of God to protect the Church subverted. How sad. Yet ,still I would not turn to hate them, there have been many very great Jesuit saints praying now for their brothers from heaven. God is going to switch things in the Jesuits. There are still good members. But how He will do it I just can't see. But so long as God can, He will, I can feel it coming.

    Hold on to your hats!!

Jarg, Thank you for trying to keep us informed always. I am well aware of some things in regard to Father James Martin but more and more details continue to come out.

I also thank other MOG members for trying to bring this to our attention. The following were posted on MOG in September and I missed them,

    https://lifepetitions.com/petition/pope-remove-james-martin

As Father Gerald Murray has stated in regard to Father James Martin's book Building a Bridge, "The real purpose of this book is to advocate for a relaxation of the Church’s teaching that sodomy is gravely immoral and that any attraction to commit acts of sodomy is an objective disorder in one’s personality." http://www.ncregister.com/daily-news/father-james-martin-proposes-an-alternate-catechism

Now there is another petition which I know was also recently posted on MOG,

PETITION: Urge the Vatican to cancel pro-LGBT talk at event for Catholic families
    [IMG]
The Vatican, through its Dicastery for Laity, Life and Family, has put pro-homosexual Jesuit Father James Martin on its program to speak at the 2018 World Meeting of Families.

The World Meeting of Families is a massive Vatican-sanctioned Catholic conference scheduled to take place in Dublin in August 2018.

Fr. Martin’s talk is titled “Exploring how Parishes can support those families with members who identify as LGBTI+,” suggesting there are an infinity of genders.

Since speaking to the dissident group New Ways Ministry in 2016 and publishing his controversial book Building a Bridge last year, Fr. Martin has devoted himself to promoting the LGBT cause.

He openly says he wants to change the Catechism of the Catholic Church to take out language about homosexual activity being “disordered.” He supports gay men kissing each other during the sign of peace at Mass, says that a Catholic attending a same-sex “wedding” is like attending a Jewish wedding, and suggests that his critics are secretly gay themselves.

He supports transgender bathrooms and regularly accuses faithful Catholics of “homophobia” for believing what the Church has always taught.

Father Martin says homosexual priests should “come out” about their sexual proclivities, but has publicly declined to say whether he himself is gay.

Please click on the following link to sign this petition,

We need to sign the above petition and have our friends and our family sign this petition also!!!

After one week it only has 144 signatures! This is not about hating anyone, it is about continuing to recognize a sin as a sin.

    Padraig,

I agree with you, because to know the love of Christ is also to know joy. I'm not speaking of simply emotions which wax and wane, but of certainty: the certainty of the Resurrection, the certainty of the love of God, the love of Christ for me. Even in the Dark Night, I've read that in this desolation the heart does not choose to return to a life of sin and sorrow. Only God matters and suffices. The Dark Night is preferable to the previous night of sin.

Am I wrong in this? I think not. In the last few months as a chaplain, there is the joy of bringing Christ, especially His Eucharistic Presence, with me to others. May I carry Him with me; may I carry Him in me. If so, His joy will show forth.

May this joy show forth in every homily I give.:notworthy::D

Safe in the Flames of the Sacred Heart!

I won't be signing that petition. It's a nonsense to petition for a man appointed by the Pope to be barred from speaking at an event organised by the Church.

This is simply another case of blaming the monkey for doing the bidding of the organ grinder.

Let Fr. Martin come and do the rounds of the chat shows. Maybe his presence will be an eye opener for Irish Catholics who actually go to Mass every Sunday and believe that sodomy is just as much a sin now as it has always been. If they can be persuaded by anyone, priest, bishop or Pope, that sodomy is not always a sin and can never be encouraged or excused, then their faith is as weak as the Catholics who only show up at Mass for weddings and funerals. Anyone pretending that Fr. Martin is a loose cannon not doing the bidding of Pope Francis is every bit as much a hypocrite as those pretending that Amoris Letitia is a development of doctrine. In the poor Church for the poor, everything is for sale. Money can buy a generic version of the Sacraments and even the Blessed Eucharist itself.

All that BS about the marginalised, peripheries and accompaniment is a cover for our hierarchy having been bought by the best organised, best financed and most powerfully connected pressure group in our lifetime.

Jesus posed the question would He find faith on earth when he returns. He'll find very little of it in Ireland and, evidently, even less in the Vatican.

I signed it. I think it worthwhile to let these people know that there is some resistance to them, no matter how little. I don't think all that many are really convinced by the homosexualists, but most are passive and don't want to be seen as 'intolerant', which has been repeatedly drilled into them as the worst thing they can be. I would imagine that most people are engaging in the delusion of imagining homosexualists as 'nice', 'loving' people, as portrayed in all the media, rather than the angry, envious, promiscuous, lustful, suicidal, disease-ridden reality and rarely allow the notion of sodomy to enter their minds. Every little effort at resisting passivity is helpful, in my opinion.

I am more than a little jealous of you, Terry. Having an active Apostolate like this is such a great gift. It reminds me so much of having a Spiritual Family, just like a real family; you commit so much and , yes even suffer so much but you get to see so many Spiritual Children. The more you suffer the more children come under your wings. I so envy this.

Mother Angleica was so much like this. She had a huge family. You can see this in a special way towards the end of her life when she hung on the Cross.

Mother Teresa of Calcutta is another good example, all her life one huge Dark Night; but towards the end an even fiercer struggle.

St Teresa of Avila once famously said, 'God save me form sad faced saints!' There was I think only one official portrait of her and she rebuked the artist for making her look so sad..and so old and plain!!:p:p

I think it was Pope Benedict who commented that it is our joy that draws souls to the Faith. Like bees to honey. Why would people ever be drawn to sonething that was sad or over sombre? People are only drawn to Joy. I have always meant to read CS Lewis's book , 'Surprised by joy'. Concerning his conversion. It is constantly quoted by converts as a source of their own conversion. But I notice joy is so central.

I am away camping next week for ten days. The weather here is to turn wonderful. I am full of joy.

Yet contrary to that joy I have spent the last ten days under constant direct attack and oppression by the devil. People think he does not exist but I know for a fact that he does. Very much so and takes the greatest interest in our goings on. But this too is a source of joy. Were should a good soldier be but on the front lines battling toe to toe with foe? Even the coming of the Dark One can be a source of joy and an increase in Faith when that which is mostly unseen manifests itself so directly in life. How fearsome and implacable a foe he is! How much he longs to drag our poor souls to hell! How intense and dire his hatred of humans and all things human. If only poor souls knew!
How strange to say that the coming of the devil can be a source of joy; but I find it is. He only comes because God permits him too for our own sanctifcation and that of the world. So in a real sense he is a gift.

Well praying for you and all on the Forum the next ten days.

    God bless Padraig

(I think that below is the portrait of St Teresa of Avila that she thought made her look so sad. One of the things that stands out for me in her life was her joy; she used to dance with the sisters like King David.

    Carmelites still do this.

It may not be conventional, but when I find that 'little flea' at the back of my ear, I ask Our Lord to tell the devil 'to go to Hell'. I don't think one should tell the demons directly, because they are more powerful than mere humans, but no bother to Our Lord!

Sometimes the Devil is given great power; as he was for instance with Jesus in the desert and as he was with Job and as he has been granted in the Church at the moment,
he serves; despite Himself as God's Agent of Purification. through him the filth that nestles in the Church is currently being purged by being brought way out into the open.

I understand your reasoning but I can't see any value in the petition. This WMF is being used by the Vatican as a preparation for yet another pastoral practice contradicting Doctrine and anyone saying or doing anything to upset their applecart will be cast in the role of enemies of the Church. Everybody got very excited when Pope Francis appeared to affirm Church teaching when he spoke to that gathering of Catholic families. Pope Francis will also tell you that marriage is 'til death do they part but that didn't stop him approving pastoral practice which renders the belief meaningless. Various remarks by him and his inner circle have made it clear that he believes the Doctrine should be changed and since he doesn't have the authority to change it he has chosen to ignore it. That's what we can expect with same sex unions. The doctrine will be untouched but chastity will be scoffed at and the Bishops will be given authority to do whatever they like under the heading of "accompaniment". In Germany and very likely in Ireland too, accompaniment will mean some sort of official acknowledgement of homosexual unions provided the minister presiding at the ceremony doesn't call it marriage or a sacrament.

Ireland was chosen for this WMF most likely because so many of our priests will welcome the changes. Given Maynooth's reputation, it's hard to believe that a majority of our priests are not homosexual or supporters of the homosexualist agenda. They will be tripping over themselves to promote sodomy as something blessed rather than condemned by God.

This evil is being promoted from the very top of the Church (as high as it gets on earth). It will get the same reaction as the Communion for public adulterers and the soon to be introduced Communion for Protestants. You saw the reaction on this forum - people running away as though we were doing the Devil's work rather than the the hierarchy who mock unchangeable Catholic teaching. They will use the "Pope is just like Jesus" line to accept as good the evil of sodomy just as they did for adultery. Person(s) willing to ignore God won't be bothered by a petition irrespective of how many people sign it. The best we can hope for is that a few faithful priests will be known to us and we can give them all our support because they will need it. They and anyone not toeing the line will be persecuted by fellow Catholics claiming to be doing the will of God because the Pope says he is being guided by the Holy Spirit. They will convince themselves that the Holy Spirit guided the St. Gallen group but not the two Popes who saw the evil they were promoting and resisted it.

I agree fully with your description of events. Those engaging in accompaniment will be accompanying the accompanied to Hell-indeed, the accompanied might have a better chance of avoiding this destination. May The Lord have mercy on them all. You are also being realistic about the value of the petition, if by value you imply its efficacy. It is, compared to the forces against which it is directed, pathetic in its weakness, David versus Goliath. Nevertheless, bearing witness has value in itself in a deeper sense than efficacy.

[Note on efficacy (=effectiveness): Jacques Maritain had wise words to say about efficacy. He accused many in the Church of a willingness to compromise The Truth in order to gain more believers to Catholicism (Efficacy>Truth). He rightly maintained that The Truth should be taught even if nobody believed it (Truth>Efficacy). I think this is the biggest problem in The Church today, and is being engaged in even by many orthodox clerics].

  19. Pope and Macron hold 'intense' meeting at Vatican

    ......
After his meeting with Francis, Macron attended a ceremony where he was made an honorary canon of St John Lateran, the cathedral of Rome.

The tradition dates back to the 15th century when the French state and church were indistinguishable.

The French president said he was "truly moved" by the honour in a speech.

    .....

Macron's decision to attend the ceremony has drawn criticism in France, which is strictly secular under a landmark 1905 law that separated the state from the church.

"I decided to accept this invitation because it belongs to a tradition of harmony and friendship between France and the Vatican to which I am attached", Macron said in his speech.

Francis and the French president smiled and embraced each other as they left their meeting.

The French president offered the Pope a 1949 edition in Italian of "The Diary of a Country Priest" by French Catholic writer Georges Bernanos.

Francis presented Macron with a bronze medal of Saint Martin, a fourth century symbol of generosity, and the main texts from his papacy.

Giving the medal to Macron, the Pope said it was the "vocation of those in government to protect the poorest".

Just re-posting this petition that Carol posted last week to have Fr. Martin removed from speaking at the World Meeting of Families. It is crawling. Please everybody we have to stand up against evil.

Do I think this petition will stop Fr. Martin from talking? No, probably not, but we have seen miraculous things happen. Even if it doesn't stop him we are still defending Christ, Our Lady, God's Church and all that is Holy.

At this point there is probably not much we can do to stop the great evil in the Church. That does not mean however that we are not supposed to try. Even if we were the only person in the world standing up against evil it is our duty to do it. That is what baptism means. We entered the Church Militant. We are the front line warriors for Christ. Please sign and share this petition with others.
