Well I wouldn't be waiting for the Vatican to say anything sensible. The last time I was in Rome a couple of years ago I couldn't get out of it quick enough. The place is a total horror story. One Saturday night there I was shown in prayer four Satanic ceremonies.. high level ones .. going on at the one time, these of course involving clergy. I flew out of the place. I was shown other things in Rome too, the place is a cess pit. A horror story. Was I ever glad to get back to Ireland!!! Fr Amorth knew this and spoke about it before he died.
Rome has always been to some degree a cesspit. Going back to the Renaissance and probably before that. Bad popes. Corrupt rulers. Indifferent Catholics. Superstitions. The Holy City is a bit of an oxymoron. Our Lady of La Salette spoke scathingly of Rome. I'm with Chesterton on this. HAS to be the Holy Spirit breathing through the mystical body of Christ or it would have destroyed itself centuries ago. I always find that one of the most compelling arguments for it to be the one true church founded by Christ. The enemy doesn't invest a whole lot of effort on Lutherans of Episcopalians. I think the evangelicals are in for a rough ride but the rest of them blow over like dead twigs. Your experiences in Rome are terrifying however. A great cleansing surely is coming. The judgement of God begins in the House of God.
A pleasant distraction for me, garabandal; twas a favorite of my Dad's. Safe in the hands of St. Patrick!
I would say the one certain Sign of a truly Holy person is a degree of uncertainty. Never ever trust anyone who smacks too much of being certain. It lacks humility. You know at heart of our Catholic Faith we end up like Jesus on the Cross asking where God is..but going on to say..'Thou oh God are are holy , enthroned on the praises of Israel'. In other words not trusting on our own Faith but the Faith of the Church. Naked we were born and naked we go back again. Really, at end of the day, none of it is about ourselves; all of it is about God. You see this so well with people on their death beds; their eyes get opened to this, one way or the other.
Not sure on which thread to place this, but it is quite something. Watch till the end...it is a treat in the current atmosphere of confusion.
At some point, I may start a new thread with this... I had a very interesting conversation with a couple of friends yesterday after we attended the 1st Communion of a friend's child. Now it leads to a reminder of Pope Benedict having stated the Remnant Church will be a fraction of what it is today. A number of conversations this weekend have reminded me of this as well as our Lady telling us that in the end the Church will again be reunified! I think most in our Church are convinced that will look very protestant rather than traditional Catholic, hence the ongoing shift to churches that look far less Catholic and far more progressive/protestant. There are many who love this look! I felt saddened and puzzled as I watched every child receiving Christ for the 1st time fail to cross themselves upon putting Eucharist in their mouths. Of course each one received on the hand. When this topic came up at my friend's party later, I learned our Pastor rather than Associate Priest had sent out a letter to all parents informing them the kids would not be taught to cross themselves upon consuming as that was too much for them to learn. The 2 friends I visited with understood my sense and reasoning, as I appreciated their pleasure in a looser atmosphere. Many seem to be convinced that is the best way to keep many Catholics home and in the pews. He apparently also does not like it when people receive on the tongue as it is not sanitary. Clearly this is the reason our kids are not taught to receive both ways. That I understand would be too much for them, nervous enough already. Yet I do recall a column he wrote in recent months in our bulletin for Eucharistic Ministers to be prepared for those receiving that way as more and more are choosing the tongue instead. In my anticipation of leaving the church community I have been part of for 45ish years, I have prayed for the desire to grow in doing so, if switching is the desire of the Lord thereby making the switch easier. Yesterday I felt stronger than ever, it feels less and less like home.
Yes, the shift is upon us. how much longer O' Lord until you come into your Glory. Mary please keep us safe within thy mantle.
Uh huh, 'NUF SAID!! Now, who/what programmed Alexa? I think that is a google product? Yet for most people, doesn't matter. Yes, Jarg, that is very nice to hear right now. Next time I have a related conversation with a non-denominational friend....
ComeSoon!, It's very sad that this Pastor thinks that it is too much for children in the 2nd grade(?) to learn how to make the sign of the cross after they receive communion. Most children who are preparing to make their first communion are eight years old and eight year olds are capable of so many things but yet this pastor believes that making the sign of the cross is too much for them. Maybe you could forward him a note about your opinion? Jarg, I think it is good that Alexa knows Jesus founded the Catholic Church but I'll never install one of those gadgets in my home, lol. ________________ The following story is related to bill 2943 which California is trying to pass. The Silence Of California’s Catholic Bishops By Rod Dreher • April 22, 2018, http://www.theamericanconservative.com/dreher/ab-2943-religious-liberty-california-catholic-bishops/ ... Understand this clearly: the bill not only bans “conversion therapy,” but would also require therapists and others to affirm LGBT desire and behavior. This is especially problematic when it comes to transgenderism, which is not well understood, but which would be protected under the language of this bill, so that the only possible thing a psychiatrist or other mental health professional could say to a gender dysphoric person is: “Yes.” PLUS — good news! The California Catholic Conference has come out against the bill! ... Good for you, bishops. Where are the Protestant and Orthodox leaders on this bill? There is a lot of discussion currently about bill 2943 possibly some misinformation on Snopes also https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/california-bible-ban/ and CBN News has covered this issue too http://www1.cbn.com/cbnnews/politic...bill-ultimately-lead-to-the-banning-of-bibles . Edited to add the following: Could a California bill ban Christian teaching on homosexuality? A proposed law in California could have a chilling effect on free speech, warn critics who fear that it could ban efforts to explain and promote Christian teaching on sexual morality. “The broad reach of AB 2943 leaves even simple religious speech on same-sex attraction or activities open to legal action and impinges on the basic human right of freedom of religion,” said the California Catholic Conference in a statement. Assembly Bill 2943, which passed through the California State Assembly on Thursday, would make any transaction relating to practice to change someone’s sexual orientation unlawful. The bill now will go to the California State Senate. AB 2943 seeks to amend the Consumer Legal Remedies Act (CRLA), a law that protects consumers from sellers who are mischaracterizing their product or service. The bill would ban advertising or engaging in sexual orientation change efforts. It defines such efforts as “any practices that seek to change an individual’s sexual orientation. This includes efforts to change behaviors or gender expressions, or to eliminate or reduce sexual or romantic attractions or feelings toward individuals of the same sex.” The inclusion of “efforts to change behaviors” as a banned activity has led some critics to fear that the bill could be used to prohibit the promotion of Christian sexual morality - through books, counseling, or teaching. The California Catholic Conference (CCC) has voiced opposition to the bill, and released a letter on its website urging Californians to contact their legislators to prevent it from becoming law. The conference is concerned that the bill’s definitions are too broad, and seek to prevent adults from making decisions for themselves. “AB 2943 would take something completely intangible - ‘sexual orientation change efforts’ – and add it to the CRLA,” the conference said. Further, given that conversion therapy is already illegal for people under the age of 18 in the state, the California Catholic Conference questioned, “why would proponents wish to take away the freedom of adults to seek counselling” for issues regarding sexual orientation or behavior. These concerns were echoed by Bill May of the Marriage Reality Movement, who told CNA that he feels the bill is “absurd” and inhibits the ability of people spreading “the Gospel’s universal call for repentance and changes in behavior.” May believes that if the bill were to become law, it could result in legal issues for preachers who discuss sexuality. “Passage would lead to more harassment and possible legal challenges against preaching, literature, conferences and organizations that address sexual morality," said May.
That being said, I posted in my Pilgrimage 2019 thread the fact the Director of Communications is happy to post my flyer on a very public bulletin board in the back of church and print/put the flyer out for interested parishioners. This is exciting as my church is the largest in the diocese. My original inspiration for this trip was based on rejuvenation and solidarity among fellow singles over 40!!
Consider these two quotes from San Vincent de Paul in the face of what we see happening in the Church hierarchy today: "Calvin, who denies thirty times that he has claimed that God is the author of sin, while, elsewhere, he makes every effort to prove this detestable maxim .... All innovators act in the same way: in their books they sow contradictions, so that if they are attacked on one point they may have ready a way out saying that elsewhere they have argued the opposite" "As for me, I have always considered and judged to be saints all those I have seen preserve in the truth of the doctrine and resist from falling into the misfortune of so many people ... that, unfortunately, have let themselves be carried away by these new unhealthy opinions"
Let me also add that I have been praying much more for the priests in my diocese, my diocese overall, as well as Popes Francis and Benedict!
The following Sensus Fidelium video could be posted on many threads and I think it is pretty well done.
http://www.courageouspriest.com/cardinal-burkes-10-ways-deal-church-crisis I saw this posted on Spirit Daily just now, and thought it might be of value since it is from Cardinal Burke.
That kid on the opening picture of the video is being used deliberately and most insidiously. He is the very definition of a useful idiot. A recent gun control flyer he sent out was a flyer made by the Standard Hotel chain which appeared to state as much at the bottom in small print. A hotel chain which is being exposed for its ties to human trafficking as well as child sexual abuse and a "standard" policy of anything goes in its hotels. When all this breaks wide open these people are going to have to go into hiding.
The following is from HeavenlyHosts' link above. Prayers for everyone under attack including the Parkland students. PRAYER TO SAINT MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.. O glorious prince St. Michael, chief and commander of the heavenly hosts, guardian of souls, vanquisher of rebel spirits, servant in the house of the Divine King and our admirable conductor, you who shine with excellence and superhuman virtue deliver us from all evil , who turn to you with confidence and enable us by your gracious protection to serve God more and more faithfully every day.
Fatima, I will confine myself to the first paragraph of your response to my question because I read nothing after you began quoting "God Speaks Will you Listen". Life is too short for reading messages purportedly coming from God the Father when whoever was calling himself God was promoting Christina Gallagher. As to Luisa Piccaretta, holy person that she was, she had absolutely no teaching authority. According to the attached from EWTN, there was no authorised English translation of her writings on living in the Divine Will as of December 2017 https://www.ewtn.com/expert/answers/luisa_piccarreta.htm I gather, therefore, that you have no guarantee that you have an accurate translation of whatever writings you are quoting or using as a basis for what you call Luisa's "teachings". Frankly, what you stated about there being a difference between doing God's will while in a state of grace and living in God's will strikes me as contradictory. Downright weird. We are assured that we became adopted sons and daughters of God through the grace of Baptism and God doesn't change His mind. I apologise in advance that I can't think of a more tactful way of saying this, but it's simply ridiculous to suggest that people in a state of grace wouldn't want to enter into an era of peace. From what I read in that EWTN article (emphasis mine): For several years an incongruity has existed between the fame of holiness of Luisa Piccarreta, which includes the canonization of one of her spiritual sons, St. Annibale de Francia, and the establishment of a Cause for her own beatification, and the confusion and controversy surrounding her name and spirituality, especially in the United States. It has never seemed justified to attribute this confusion to the Servant of God, but rather to poor translations, rash interpretations of her writings, and a lack of theological competence by some who try to explain her writings. For this reason, EWTN has always urged Catholics to use great caution, until such time as clarity could be brought to the situation by ecclesiastical authority. While I appreciate your sincerity, Fatima, I prefer to let the CDF do the heavy lifting on sifting through Luisa's writings. We can get to Heaven without pre-empting their conclusions. Public Revelation has given us sufficient guidance to keep to the narrow road.
