That is exactly correct, Katfalls. That is why Catholics attend devotions and novenas.

The Vatican has never told us that we do not have a right to know.
I believe that would have been accepted by everyone, if the Vatican had clarified that Our Lady wished for the laity to know only the 1st part, and not the 2nd part, of the third Secret.
However, it is obvious that they have tried to pretend that the 1st part of the Third Secret is all there is to the Third Secret.

As Fr Gruner says in his talk in the video posted, Cardinal Bertone actually mentioned/ let slip that he doesn't believe in the 2nd part of the 3rd Secret because Our Lady is supposed to be the Help of Christians and therefore, how could she have said anything against the Vatican/ the Church's ministers?

The whole Catholic world was waiting for the release of the 3rd Secret in 1960, as explicitly instructed by Our Lady.
We know what happened after Pope John XXIII read the secret.

"February 8: As the world anxiously awaits the full revelation of the Third Secret in 1960, as Our Lady had directed, an unnamed person close to the Pope authorizes the Portuguese press agency A.N.I. to report that John XXIII has decided that the Third Secret will not be revealed in 1960 and “would probably remain, forever, under absolute seal.”

Sister Lucy is officially forbidden to speak about the Third Secret and not allowed to receive any visitors except close relatives and people she has known for a long time. Her own confessor of many years returns from Brazil and even he is not allowed to see her."

Edited to add: In all the visions seen by the Fatima children, our Lady always explained what they had been shown. She never left the interpretation to them or to others, even when the vision had been self-explanatory, like the vision of Hell.

From Chris Ferrara's book 'The Secret Still Hidden'

"........the Message Lucia was given has been treated as worthy of belief by a series of Popes.

Pope John Paul II, who attributed his escape from death on May 13, 1981 to the intervention of Our Lady of Fatima (on the very anniversary of the first Fatima apparition), definitively removed the Fatima apparitions from the category of the so-called “private revelation” by a series of papal acts. The Pope beatified Jacinta and Francisco in May 2000, proclaiming February 20th as their feast day, elevated the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima on May 13th to the altars of every church in the world by ordering its inclusion in the Roman Missal, and declared at Fatima in 1982 that “The appeal of Our Lady of Fatima is so deeply rooted in the Gospel and the whole of Tradition that the Church feels herself bound by this message.”
Moreover, the Fatima prayers (“O my Jesus, etc”) have been incorporated into the Rosary, while the First Saturdays devotion is practiced throughout the entire Church.

In view of these facts and circumstances, Socci has best summed up the approach any Catholic should take to the Message of Fatima: “The Fatima event has received on the part of the Church—which in general is very cautious concerning supernatural phenomena—a recognition that has no equal in Christian history.... It is really impossible—after all this—to continue to speak of a ‘private revelation’ and of the relative importance of the Message.” It is not only impossible but completely irrational to dismiss the Fatima message, and the Third Secret in particular, as a “private revelation.” Any reasonable Catholic, and even a non-Catholic inclined to believe in supernatural phenomena, should be prepared to agree that the Message of Fatima is in a category by itself."

He surely was a martyr for the faith. I was so moved by his sincere emotion and desire to obey heaven and work for the consecration of Russia as it was mandated by Our Lady.
I’m sure OurLady escorted dear Fr. Gruner directly to into heaven. His gain, our loss . Pray for us Fr....and thank you for your sacrifice!

By looking at what Pope John Paul II and Cardinal Ratzinger said when asked why the Third Secret had not been released, one can conclude that the spoken words of Our Lady/ interpretation of the vision of the Third Secret (which is the 2nd part of the Third Secret) were indeed meant to be published/ released to the world:

    Published Testimony:
The October 1981 issue of the German magazine Stimme des Glaubens reported on a discussion that Pope John Paul II had with a select group of German Catholics, in November of 1980 (verbatim report):

The Holy Father was asked, "What about the Third Secret of Fatima? Should it not have already been published by 1960?"
Pope John Paul II replied: "Given the seriousness of the contents, my predecessors in the Petrine office diplomatically preferred to postpone publication so as not to encourage the world power of Communism to make certain moves.
"On the other hand, it should be sufficient for all Christians to know this: if there is a message in which it is written that the oceans will flood whole areas of the earth, and that from one moment to the next millions of people will perish, truly the publication of such a message is no longer something to be so much desired.".....

    https://fatima.org/about/the-third-secret/pope-john-paul-ii-in-fulda-germany-1980/

    Published Testimony:
On November 11, 1984, Cardinal Ratzinger, head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, gave an interview in Jesus magazine, a publication of the Pauline Sisters. The interview is entitled “Here is Why the Faith is in Crisis”, and was published with the Cardinal’s explicit permission. In this interview, Cardinal Ratzinger revealed that he had read the Third Secret and that the Secret refers to “dangers threatening the faith and the life of the Christian and therefore (the life) of the world.”

Cardinal Ratzinger said in the same interview that the Secret also refers to “the importance of the Novissimi [the Last Times / the Last Things]” and that “If it is not made public, at least for the time being, it is in order to prevent religious prophecy from being mistaken for a quest for the sensational…” The Cardinal further revealed that “the things contained in this ‘Third Secret’ correspond to what has been announced in Scripture and has been said again and again in many other Marian apparitions, first of all that of Fatima…”

I just found what Fr Gruner had to say about the status of Fatima - he explains why it is not a private revelation, and classifies it as a public, prophetic revelation which obliges us to believe in it.

  8. Constantine = saw the vision of the writing in the sky "By this Sign you shall conquer" and he followed;
Result : he gained the Roman Empire for himself and Catholicism

King of France = heard the Sacred Heart revelation but he did not follow because he does not want to share his kingdom and glory
Result: his line ended with the guillotine

Seems to me I read somewhere that he would have done it but his favorite mistress was opposed so he didnt do it to please her. if true it sounds almost like Herod who didnt want to kill John the Baptist but lust and then pride overcame his good instincts.

But, poor Fr. Gruner, he was suspended by the Church! Sister Lucia disagreed with him, publicly. This is on the EWTN website.

I'm not surprised about his 'suspension'. They wanted to silence him.
But he has been vindicated by the facts that have emerged since he passed on.
The 2nd part of the third secret has never been released and Russia has not been consecrated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary by the Pope together with all the bishops.

As for Sr Lucy disagreeing with him, like I have mentioned earlier, I believe that was the impostor Sr Lucy; not the true Sr Lucy the seer.

This apparition of Our Lady occurred in the convent chapel where Sr Lucy had been praying for guidance from God as to what His Will was for her.
She had been ordered by her Bishop to write down the Third Secret but months had gone by with Sr Lucy finding herself simply unable to write it down.
Our Lady then encouraged her by asking her to write down the vision (1st part of the Third secret) first. This happened on January 3 1944. The vision was written in 62 lines on 4 pages of notebook paper.

Subsequently Sr Lucy must have written the words of Our Lady (the 2nd part of the Third Secret) on a single sheet of paper in about 25 lines. This was in the form of a letter to her Bishop.

On January 9, she wrote to her Bishop saying that she had completed the task he had given her.

The Secret in toto is contained in two sealed envelopes of differing dimensions, on each of which Sister Lucy writes: “By express order of Our Lady, this envelope can only be opened in 1960 by the Cardinal Patriarch of Lisbon or the Bishop of Leiria.”

June 17: The entire Third Secret is personally delivered by Sister Lucy to her confessor, the Bishop of Gurza, Dom Manuel María Ferreira da Silva, as she would not let anyone but a fellow bishop deliver it to the Bishop of Fatima. Bishop Ferreira da Silva delivers the Third Secret on that same day to the Bishop of Fatima, Dom José Correia da Silva.

    1957
April 4: According to the “official” account published in 2000, one of the texts pertaining to the Third Secret, the 62-line text describing the vision of the “Bishop dressed in White,” is delivered to the Vatican and kept in the Holy Office archives.

April 16: The 25-line text of the Third Secret, sealed with wax in its own original envelope within the Bishop of Fatima’s outer envelope, is received at the Vatican, but this date of reception is not noted in the “official” account. It is, however, reported by Fatima scholar Frère Michel de la Sainte Trinité in The Whole Truth About Fatima. This second text is placed in a wooden safe in the papal apartments (not in the Holy Office) as later shown by a photograph published in the world-renowned magazine Paris-Match and confirmed in the accompanying article by Robert Serrou quoting the testimony of the Pope’s household manager, Mother Pasqualina, who states that the Third Secret is inside the safe.

There were/are people in the Vatican who want to hide the facts surrounding the suppression/ denial of the 2nd part of the Third Secret.

It is widely known that Vatican security guards forcefully removed Antonio Socci and Solideo Paolini, two highly respected Italian journalists whose research led them to conclude that the entire Third Secret has not yet been revealed, from an event in which Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Bertone was about to present his book promoting his claim that the Third Secret has been fully revealed.
Socci had earlier requested to be allowed to ask just one single question to the Cardinal, to which the prelate could answer with a simple yes or no.

Socci’s book, 'The Fourth Secret of Fatima', contains the testimony of Archbishop Capovilla, the personal secretary of Pope John XXIII who was with John XXIII when he read the Secret.

Archbishop Capovilla admitted (in July 2006) to Dr. Solideo Paolini that there were indeed two different but complementary texts of the Third Secret: one that was kept at the Holy Office and another that was kept in the papal apartments. This information was published in Socci’s book.

After the book was published, Dr. Socci received a personal letter from Pope Benedict XVI thanking him for the book and praising the sentiments that inspired Socci to write it.

I think this is a very good overview of why the Third Secret was never revealed, by Malachi Martin, who allegedly read it.

And just as important: the consequences of the suppression.

Thank you SgCatholic for your awesome research. Novenas come from private revelations including the Rosary. It is our obligation as Catholics to believe Our Lady’s approved apparitions. I can’t understand why this is so difficult to understand? If Protestants would believe it would put them on a more enlightened path to salvation.
