Jeanne, I don't know what is right but here is my gut reaction. No, because if a person from another faith realizes so strongly that they need regular access to the sacraments the Church provides then they should become members.

For people in RCIA who are not members of the Church officially yet I could see an exception because they want to join, but the Church has decided they must follow a "program" first.

I know but there is always a risk with Morphine especially with the high doses given to relieve pain at the end of life. My point is that the intention is not to kill. But the danger is still present. Just so with my friend (see above) and Merino. Merino alters hormonal production so the thickened mucous acts as a barrier to sperm reaching the tubes and thus preventing fertilisation. There is a rsk that sometimes the sperm will get through and implantation is prevented. This is not the intention but the risk. I am not saying it is justified or right to take this risk. Similarly with the pill, it prevents conditions for fertilisation but sometimes this purpose can fail and then it prevents continuance of the pregnancy or implantation because of the hostile environment it produces. This is not the intention but the risk is still there. Its not a justiable risk in my view. So abortifacient contraceptives do not always abort but they always have the potential to abort. They contravene Church laws on contraception and abortion.

    Catholic Dictionary
    Term
    DOUBLE EFFECT

    Definition
The principle that says it is morally allowable to perform an act that has at least two effects, one good and one bad. It may be used under the following conditions: 1. the act to be done must be good in itself or at least morally indifferent; by the act to be done is meant the deed itself taken independently of its consequences; 2. the good effect must not be obtained by means of the evil effect; the evil must be only an incidental by-product and not an actual factor in the accomplishment of the good; 3. the evil effect must not be intended for itself but only permitted; all bad will must be excluded form the act; 4. there must be a proportionately grave reason for permitting the evil effect. At least the good and evil effects should be nearly equivalent. All four conditions must be fulfilled. If any one of them is not satisfied, the act is morally wrong.

An example of the lawful use of the double effect would be the commander of a submarine in wartime who torpedoes an armed merchant vessel of the enemy, although he foresees that several innocent children on board will be killed. All four required conditions are fulfilled: 1. he intends merely to lessen the power of the enemy by destroying an armed merchant ship. He does not wish to kill the innocent children; 2. his action of torpedoing the ship is not evil in itself; 3. the evil effect (the death of the children) is not the cause of the good effect (the lessening of the enemy's strength); 4. there is sufficient reason for permitting the evil effect to follow, and this reason is administering a damaging blow to those who are unjustly attacking his country.

The principle of double effect never justifies an intrinsically evil act.

99.999% of Catholics would be totally unaware of this and find it incomprehensible. That is why simple obedience is so important for salvation and why the church has such a huge responsibility to ensure orthodoxy.

I guess, yes, I would expect her to refrain from sex. If I HAD to take birth control there is NO WAY in h*ll I would have sex while I was on it. I fear the loss of God more than the loss of sex.

Can a Pope be excommunicated? By whom?

It has been calculated that a silent, chemical abortion occurs once in every 200 menstrual cycles for a woman continually on the combined pill. In light of the millions of women using these contraceptive methods, this implies millions of pill-induced abortions worldwide.

There is a high degree of certainty that tiny human embryos die during contraceptive drug use. What is important however is not the actual figures involved but the fact that it happens at all. This reality is concealed from women all over the world.

I have a friend who had to give up pharmacy when he refused to dispense abortifacient contraceptives.

    His testimony is below:

I dont think you read my question. I asked if she had a hysterectomy would you expect her to refrain from sex because the act would not then open to life. The Church teaches that intercourse should always be open to the possibility of procreation.

Sorry I misunderstood the story. I thought she had an IUD and didn't refrain from sex.
Ok, go a step further and say can a woman continue to have sex after menopause?

Yes I had in good conscience point this out to my local 'Christian'chemist who sadly continues to dispense the contraceptive pill and the morning after pill. This stand of course threatens my own business in a small community. But it's worth it and so far my clinic is still full each day. GOD IS GOOD.

LM , my point was basically if a layperson votes pro abortion they risk excommunication from the Catholic Church . It does not have to be pronounced publicly by the Church .The CCC tells us we don't need a Pope to say were Excommunicated

Its on my profile. Osteopathy. In a small gossipy community controversial views can alienate potential patents. 50% are female.

You're not undrstanding that the character of the act is changed. There is a difference between a surgeon removing a limb and some nut hacking someone's off intentionally
