https://gloria.tv/post/aicucNCRoKrQ1Su4JBuZitWud Bishop Hosts Establishment Journalists To Bash Rising Catholic Media Los Angeles Auxiliary Bishop Robert Barron hosted a July 29 invite-only meeting of party journalists to talk about “disturbing trends in the online Catholic world.” The meeting of those disturbed was about the rise of a “radical Traditionalist” movement, writes Christopher White on the dissenting NcrOnline.org (August 3). White previously worked for CruxNow.com which is flooded with Bishop Barron advertisement. Present on the call were America Media (Jesuits), Catholic News Agency (EWTN), Catholic News Service (US bishops), CruxNow.com (sponsored also by Barron), and Our Sunday Visitor (U.S. National Weekly Newspaper). The meeting also spoke about the phenomenon of tabloid news in the Catholic press. White describes the traditionalists more or less correctly as often young Catholics who prefer the traditional liturgy and subscribe to more conservative political beliefs and religious practices. In recent weeks, Barron was criticised by Catholic media for defending indefensible parts of Vatican II. Barron reacted by saying that he preferred the online pushback of atheists to certain Catholics. He complained during the meeting that three full-time staff members spend their whole workdays deleting “inappropriate” comments levelled at him.
The charity of many will grow cold? I think this is a good example. I have been reading The Jesuits by Malachi Martin and while it was written I believe in 1988 it sure reminds me of some of the things the more modernist bishops say today. As well as many things Pope Francis has said as well.
I have been thinking Don about something Our Lady said recently, that mankind itself had , 'Grown Corrupt'. We have not too far to see how this is so when we look around us. Our Lady at Fatima for instance said that our major sin (this was way, way back in 1917 and we have come a long way down the hill from there0 was impurity. If we look at our culture, the way we dress, our sexual ethics and lifestyles, our culture, books, films ,theater and so on are profoundly corrupt. We are all tainted as a human family. Similiarly if we turn to the Church we have, all of us become very corrupt (well at least I know I have ) by Modernist ideas and tendencies. Modern people talk of being, 'Woke'. Well I have started to become , 'Woke' to the fact that I have had some very, very bad ideas and practices. It has been a tough journey and I am still waking up. But waking up I am. Now am I the only one, people are waking up all over the Church. So I do feel great sympathy for poor Bishop Barron for I can see so much of my past self in him . But there is a young man, Brian Holdsworth, wise beyond his years, a fairly recent convert from Protestantism whom I love to listen to from time to time. He did a wonderful video recently on Vatican 2. It's only about ten minutes and he talks so much sense.
Bishop Gregory mentored Barron.. There was a twitter that Barron praised Gregory. It takes two to tango. Twitter here https://mobile.twitter.com/BishopBarron/status/1113836280176152577
I must offer up mass for Bishop Barron tonight and poor Bishop Gregory too. Also Our Poor Holy Father the Pope.
You aren't that bad as some bishops out there, who work together or collude for want of a better word to destroy or destruct our church. Who appointed all these bishops, popes of course along with curia recommendations, retiring Bishop recommended who, nuncio views etc etc. It's staring at all our faces re the state of the church now. I detect some ambition or pride in Barron cos he wanted the job. Most saints aren't interested in positions of power or money or promotion.
One instance where Bishop Barron may be correct in warning about a vitriolic website is the one called canon212.com . The host of the website needs prayers as he editorializes every story with really insulting headlines. I wouldn't want to be him on judgement day. We need to encourage each other to be charitable in our statements. It is what Our Lady wants and expects of us as her children.
Yes I am afraid we don't persuade people by insulting them. It just makes them mad and they stop listening. All the same Bishop Barron says he has three people working full time taking down all the insults. That seems very far fetched to me and incredible, I doubt if even Satan himself gets such a bad press. My mother used to say to us when we were kids, 'Sticks and stones may break your bones but names will never harm you!' Good advice. Matthew 5:11 "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Better just like the duck and let it be water of the back. Paying three people full time to clean up insults sounds like an awful waste of the Faithful's hard earned dough to me.
I am finding this to be true. As staunch as I have thought I was I am finding that I too have been unknowingly comfortable over the years with some modernist practices in the Church. For the sake of purity I simply do not watch TV or movies anymore. Modern fiction is almost verboten. I used to think that I could skip over "the bad parts" but that is not possible. To even begin with such a so called entertainment puts us in an occasion of sin. I never realized that before. The same thing with taking God's Name in vain in books TV or movies. I never really thought about it. So safer to stay away from all of it altogether. Same thing with spouting off about others--even public figures. It's best avoided. I asked my guardian angel to nudge me when I start into these conversations. And I do get nudges! My list for confession grows long. We need a cleansing of such magnitude. I don't look forward to it but we need it!
