I went to confession this morning and after asked the priest when and if he might give out the Eucharist? He said he did not know when or if. He said they had scouts out watching in case the police might raid us again. Recall this is in the second largest city in , Catholic', Ireland, not the foot hills of Communist China. Scouts out to look out for the police in case they catch us receiving the Eucharist. Informers set to report us to the Bishop. Can we sink any lower?
This is a very real suffering, Padraig! I am so sorry that you are all under this black cloud! May Our Lady console all who are facing this!
In a funny, strange kind of way it is a great joy. But on the other hand if the police arrest me I will maybe loose my job and pension. Still, God's Holy Will be done. I can't believe this is happening in Ireland. Stunning. 'Freedom of Religion?'
hi AED Your post brought to mind a favourite poem and a favourite prayer of mine. Thanks “All which I took from thee I did but take, Not for thy harms, But just that thou might'st seek it in My arms. All which thy child's mistake Fancies as lost, I have stored for thee at home: Rise, clasp My hand, and come!' Francis Thomson The Hound of Heaven. “Thank you, dear Jesus, for all you have given me, for all you have taken away from me, for all you have left me.” St. Thomas More
Thank you AED You quoted words of wisdom and experience given to you by your father. My dad has the prayer of St Thomas on his memorial card.
The Irsh saints and Martyrs must be not so much turning in their graves as twirling. St Patrick and St Brigdet are probably away to that big pub in the sky to drown their sorrows.
This was the major thought that crossed my mind when I thought about what you said yesterday, Padraig.
I wish our Bishops and priests would say and write this. If they did they would of course be eaten alive. Not least by their own fellow Clergy and Rome itself. Still at least I wish a few would say it. At least a few....even if they go to prison for it.
This is exactly why we don’t put our trust and faith in organizations and clerics...it is in God and our catholic faith. They are separate from the organization. Keep the faith...always!
"Those who should speak will remain silent" seems the operative word for these times. Our Lady of Good Success called it! She laid it all out for us 400 years ago.
