The Life of the Venerable Anna Maria Tiagi

Succesive Popes did listen to her two or three of them and did exactly as she advised.

A working class mother of a large family, the poorest of the poor, virtually illiterate, more nor less telling the Church what to do. They did so too. Without a Murmer. And where very happy that they did so.

Have a think about that.

There is no way in a million years the awful people in the Vatican would do that today. They keep talking about democracy and the common man, but they would totally despise someone like Anna Maria and mysticism generally.

 

Just reading there about some of the miraculous cures of Anna Maria, there are thousands and thousands of them, including people with cancer and on the point of death. Jesus had appeared to her when she was sick wearing a violet robe with the most beautiful blue mantle. He cured her, held her hand in His and imparted to her the gift of healing. Healing people miraculously seemed to be an everyday thing for her, she even healed animals, bless her.

The big impression I get of her and which might explain the miraculous is how like Our Lady she seemed to be. A kind of mirror image in so many ways. How they must have loved each other, little wonder so many miracles! God could refuse her nothing.

 

Anna Maria had a truly painful death with great, great suffering like so many of the saints. In fact so common is this that we can almost come to expect it. In the case of the martyrs it is of course par for the course. Good examples of such (in a human sense) such terrible deaths are for example St Therese of Liseaux and St Teresa of the Andes.

In Anna Maria's case it meant she could neither move nor speak for a long period, horrific muscle spasms, breathing difficulties, dying alone and on and on...Like all the saints she suffered with huge patience and talking to her family she could still smile and was always at peace.

Why this suffering for the saints at death? Well for the rest of us we would write it off to getting our pots scrubbed before the Judgement, getting our must intractable sins and faults cleaned off, paying our dues, so to speak and thus saving time in purgatory, may no time in purgatory at all.

In the case of the saints there may have been some of this. Not all saints go to heaven right away. Even some saints needed cleansing after death. A good example of this was St Claude Colombiere SJ , the Spiritual Director of St Margaret Mary whom she saw in Purgatory.

By suffering the saints gain merit, a higher place in heaven and so are able to help us here down below even more. Getting the silver polished, so to speak.

 

And yet modern man thinks someone is blessed if he dies in his sleep. " he didn't suffer"
To me that is the classic unprovided death that Catholics always prayed to be spared.

 

It's the exact reverse of what those who support assisted suicide support, they see suffering as useless and to avoided. How horrible life would be if we thought this were the case. Running like frightened white mice from one suffering to the next.

 

I was a bit surprised that having dug Anna Maria's body up on several occasions they kept reinterring it, the first tie 18 years after her death. In the case of Sister Wilhelmina in the USA they kept her up in a glass case right away; also in the case of St Carlo Acutis. I suppose things were down differently back then.

She made many, many prophesies some of which according to the author were kept under wraps. England, Russia and China will be converted. Pretty well everyone Orthodox and the Protestant sects will come back to the Faith. Universal peace. The Triumph of the Church , which is the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart.

Her real biggie, which she made along with other visionaries is the Three Days of Darkness; that when things in the World are turned really evil and in the middle of what looks very much like World War 3 God will call a halt to things. There will be an intense coldness, A Sign (the Cross) in the sky and then quite literally all hell will break loose:

There shall come over the whole earth an intense darkness lasting three days and three nights. Nothing can be seen, and the air will be laden with pestilence which will claim mainly, but not only, the enemies of religion. It will be impossible to use any man-made lighting during this darkness, except blessed candles. He, who out of curiosity, opens his window to look out, or leaves his home, will fall dead on the spot. During these three days, people should remain in their homes, pray the Rosary and beg God for mercy.”
“All the enemies of the Church, whether known or unknown, will perish over the whole earth during that universal darkness, with the exception of a few whom God will soon convert. The political parties, having exhausted their blood and their rage without being able to arrive at any satisfactory settlement, shall agree at the last extremity to have recourse to the Holy See. Then the Pope shall send to France a special legate….In consequence of the information received, His Holiness himself shall nominate a most Christian King for the government of France.”
e) “After the three days of darkness, St. Peter and St. Paul, having come down from Heaven, will preach in the whole world and designate a new Pope. A great light will flash from their bodies and will settle upon the cardinal who is to become Pope. Christianity, then, will spread throughout the world. He is the Holy Pontiff, chosen by God to withstand the storm. At the end, he will have the gift of miracles, and his name shall be praised over the whole earth.”
f) “Whole nations will come back to the Church and the face of the earth will be renewed. Russia, England, and China will come into the Church.”

•On Christmas, 1816 Blessed Elizabeth saw Our Lady, who appeared extremely sad. Upon inquiring why, Our Lady answered, “Behold, my daughter, such great ungodliness.” Blessed Elizabeth then saw “apostates brazenly trying to rip her most holy Son from her arms. Confronted with such an outrage, the Mother of God ceased to ask mercy for the world, and instead requested justice from the Eternal Father. Clothed in His inexorable Justice and full of indignation, he turned to the world.
•“At that moment all nature went into convulsions, the world lost its normal order and was filled with the most terrible calamity imaginable. This will be something so deplorable and atrocious that it will reduce the world to the ultimate depths of desolation.”
•On the feast of Saints Peter and Paul, June 29, 1820, she saw Saint Peter descending from heaven, robed in papal vestments and surrounded by a legion of angels. With his crosier he drew great cross over the face of the earth, separating it into four quadrants. In each of these quadrants, he then brought forth a tree, sprouting with new life. Each tree was in the shape of a cross and enveloped in magnificent light. All the good laity and religious fled for protection underneath these trees and were spared from the tremendous chastisement. “Woe! Woe to those unobservant religious who despise their Holy Rules. They will all perish in the terrible chastisement together with all who give themselves to debauchery and follow the false maxims of their deplorable contemporary philosophy!

After the year 1900, toward the middle of the 20th century, the people of that time will become unrecognizable. When the time for the Advent of the Antichrist approaches, people’s minds will grow cloudy from carnal passions, and dishonor and lawlessness will grow stronger. People’s appearances will change, and it will be impossible to distinguish men from women due to their shamelessness in dress and style of hair. These people will be cruel and will be like wild animals because of the temptations of the Antichrist. There will be no respect for parents and elders, love will disappear, and Christian pastors, Bishops and priests will become vain men, completely failing to distinguish the right-hand way from the left.
At that time, the morals and traditions of Christians and of the Church will change. People will abandon modesty, and dissipation will reign. Falsehood and greed will attain great proportions, and woe to those who pile up treasures. Lust, adultery, homosexuality, secret deeds and murder will rule in society.
Apostasy
At that future time, due to the power of such great crimes and licentiousness, people will be deprived of the grace of the Holy Spirit, which they received in Holy Baptism and equally of remorse.
The Churches of God will be deprived of God-fearing and pious pastors, and woe to the Christians remaining in the world at that time; they will completely lose their faith because they will lack the opportunity of seeing the light of knowledge from anyone at all. Then they will separate themselves out of the world in holy refuges in search of lightening their spiritual sufferings, but everywhere they will meet obstacles and constraints. And all this will result from the fact that the Antichrist wants to be Lord over everything and become the ruler of the whole universe, and he will produce miracles and fantastic signs.
Telephones, airplanes, submarines
He will also give depraved wisdom to an unhappy man so that he will discover a way by which one man can carry on a conversation with another from one end of the earth to the other. At that time men will also fly through the air like birds and descend to the bottom of the sea like fish. And when they have achieved all this, these unhappy people will spend their lives in comfort without knowing, poor souls, that it is deceit of the Antichrist. And, the impious one! – he will so complete science with vanity that it will go off the right path and lead people to lose faith in the existence of God in three hypostases.
The coming chastisement
Then the All-good God will see the downfall of the human race and will shorten the days for the sake of those few who are being saved, because the enemy wants to lead even the chosen into temptation, if that is possible… then the sword of chastisement will suddenly appear and kill the Perverter and his servants.

No. 83: “Write this: before I come as the Just Judge, I am coming first as the King of Mercy. Before the Day of Justice arrives, there will be given to people a sign in the heavens of this sort: …”
“All light in the heavens will be extinguished, and there will be great darkness over the whole earth. Then the Sign of the Cross will be seen in the sky, and from the openings where the hands and the feet of the Savior were nailed will come forth great lights which will light up the earth, for a period of time. This will take place shortly, before the last day.”

 

Well I've finished my book on Blessed Anna Maria and it was a bit like loosing an old friend. A wonderful old fashioned kind of Catholic writing that I love so much. Before going to sleep each night I read a little bit and of course it caused me to pray a lot to Anna Maria and so to build up a friendship. What could be better?

She reminds me so much of Our Blessed Mother.

Prostrate at thy feet, O Great Queen of Heaven, we venerate thee with the deepest reverence and we confess that thou art the Daughter of the Father, the Mother of the Divine Word, the Spouse of the Holy Ghost. Thou art the storekeeper and the almoner of the Divine Mercies… For this reason, we call thee Mother of Divine Compassion. Behold us here in affliction and anguish. Deign to show us thy true love. We beg thee to ask the Holy Trinity most fervently to grant us the grace ever to conquer the devil, and the world and our evil passions; the efficacious grace that sanctifies the just, converts, sinners, destroys heresies, enlightens infidels and brings all men to the true faith.

Obtain for us this great gift that all the world may form but one people united in the One True Church.

I had the most lovely dream last night. We had an old Church in our Parish which I loved as a child. But because its foundations were damaged due to the bombing during the Second World War they had to demolish it and build a new one which resembles a bowling alley.
Anyway I went into the old long gone Church and their were huge angels as high as the ceiling clad in beautiful white robes whose heads were turned towards the tabernacle in Worship. Where the tabernacle was there stood Jesus but huge, a giant, whose head seemed to reach the sky. Over all was a gorgeous streaming light.

It reminded me that Jesus is really present in that little tabernacle, as are the great angels, His Heavenly Court.
