I have read and digested the last ten monthly messages for unbelievers hoping that by the grace of God I may be transformed by the words of our Lady. She is a teacher par excellence. I have written the following based on prayerful disccernment of the messages - all of our Lady’s words are in bold and all are from the last ten messages on the second of the month. Perhaps we all could print this article and digest in our prayer time what our Lady has been trying to say to us so far in 2010? I hope very little of me is conveyed in the article but hope that I have been faithful to the messages of Medjugorje. They speak powerfully to my Heart and I hope to all who read this. One gets the sense in the messages that our Lady is deeply concerned for her children because of the sin and darkness that threaten humanity but that we need to convert and be transformed for the time of darkness is near the end as light overcomes darkness and truth overcomes deception. The mother is calling her calling her children The mother calls with ‘motherly love’- ‘I am with you’, I am beside you’ ‘I am leading you’ ‘with my motherly hand – a hand of love’. The mother is calling us home because we are in danger – she warns us personally – ‘stop and look within yourselves and see how sinful you are’. She warns us that we are in danger because the world is in darkness and we are being contaminated by ‘darkness of lies’ and ‘darkness of death’. She mentions that many ‘souls wander in the darkness and ignorance of God’s love’ that ‘God’s signs’ are all around us. She has been with us almost 30 years so she says ‘with motherly perseverance, I am bringing you the light of life’. How have I/We responded to the Light of Medjugorje? Of her children in the Church she warns us of ‘errors’, of ‘our imperfections’, of ‘our limitations’, that we live amidst ‘error and darkness’, warning us not to ‘silence your conscience’ in the midst of the ‘sins of the present times’, a time of ‘trials’. Of the world her heart aches for those ‘souls who wander in the darkness and ignorance of God’s love’ for those who live in ‘error’ and ‘darkness’ in this ‘time of trials’ for humanity. She warns of the ‘sins of the present time’ and of the ‘transcience of this age’ when so many live as if God did not exist. We live amidst the ‘darkness of lies’, and in the ‘darkness of death’ - indeed she tells us that this is a ‘time of purification’. She warns that satan is strong and tells us to be on our guard - ‘do not permit satan to open the paths of earthly happiness, the paths without my son – they are false and last a short while’. The Remedy ‘I will teach you love, love which wipes away all sins and makes you perfect’. She uses phrases ‘Look within’, ‘reflect’, ‘listen’, ‘think’, ‘learn’, ‘stop’, ‘be aware’ She would like us to admit that we are powerless over sin and to acknowledge our sinfulness ‘stop and look within yourselves and see how sinful you are’. ‘Be aware of your sins’. She says we need to ‘accept that you are weak and little’. We are to reflect on our ‘transience, imperfections and limitations’. This requires ‘humility’ and she mentions we should be filled with ‘humble love’ and humble devotion’. This knowledge of our own weaknesses helps us to rely on her Son, Jesus, the Saviour and Redeemer’ Sin is mentioned frequently. Sin leads to ‘darkness’ and ‘death’, & ‘error’ is a ‘burden’ that weighs man down in ‘guilt’. But in a beautiful way our Lady explains that ‘every sin offends Love and distances you from it – and Love is my Son’. Sin, therefore, offends love and distances us from God. Sin is personal and offends a person, Jesus Christ, the second person of the Blessed Trinity and fruit of the womb of Mary. That is why she comes to our age to remind us that sin is an offence against Her Son who died on the Cross for our redemption. Grace is not cheap – it was purchased by the blood of the Lamb. She tells us clearly that we need to come to know Jesus, her Son, personally – ‘return to my Son, your Saviour and your Redeemer’ and to think of ‘His divine infiniteness’. She tells us that we need to be ‘born anew in the justice of my Son’. She tells us that Jesus needs to be born in our hearts. ‘Be all the closer to my Son to His suffering, but also to His love with which He bore it’. ‘Return to the Way of my Son’. ‘To come to know and to love yourself, you must come to know my Son’. There is a powerful call to ‘set out on a spiritual visitation - dear children be filled with grace’. ‘Sincerely repent of your sins and yearn for the good’. ‘Be perfect’. ‘Forget that which is personal to begin to build the Kingdom of Heaven in your hearts’, ‘battle against the sins of the present age’. ‘With fasting and prayer, clear the way by which my Son will enter into your hearts’. We are in a spiritual war and our weapons are ‘prayer, fasting, peace, and boundless love’. She calls us to completely abandon ourselves to God, ‘By your surrender and prayer ennoble your body and perfect your soul’, ‘therefore my children pray, pray that you may comprehend and surrender with a spirit that is free, be completely transformed, and in this way have the Kingdom of Heaven in your heart on earth’. ‘Free yourself of everything from the past which burdens you’ ‘you must learn to forgive and to ask for forgiveness’. She exhorts us - ‘Be filled with grace’, ‘accept the Light’, ‘be born anew’, ‘be ready, my children’ that She is with us ‘I will teach you’, ‘I will help you triumph’ She calls us children but also 'my apostles' so that we can be a ‘lighthouse to all souls’, that we will ‘shine all the brighter and draw all the more souls’, that we may ‘show the truth to all those who seek it in the darkness of lies’ and ‘to come to know and love others you must see my Son in them’. With our Lady all is possible, ‘Give me your cleansed hearts that I may illuminate them with the Light of my Son’. She tells us to ‘accept the Light’ ‘I offer you eternal happiness and peace and unity with my Son, with God’. Our Lady is Christocentric, she talks constantly of ‘my Son who is life’, ‘think of my Son of His Divine Infiniteness’, ‘the light of life’, ‘love is My Son’. ‘My son exists’, ‘build the kingdom of Heaven in your Hearts and led by my Son - think of what is God’. ‘Be ready, my children’, ‘clear the way by which my Son will enter your hearts’, ‘I will triumph’, be children ‘of the light’, be children of truth, ‘justice’, ‘love’ and ‘peace’. Do not reject me my children’ She is preparing the royal way for the return of Her Son in glory, she calls us to purify ourselves so that our hearts may be welcome vessels for the King of Kings, to cleanse our hearts from sin by asking for forgiveness and realising that sin is a personal offence against her Son who is Love and who died for us on the Cross. She exhorts us to clear the way for the return of Jesus. We are making a spiritual visitation with Mary so we too must be found like her full of grace and with the Light of life in our Hearts. In the Illumination to come many will be found in the ‘darkness of death’ in mortal sin and in the ‘darkness of lies’ for they have lived a transient life based on the material and in rejection of Jesus who is the Way, the Truth and the Life.
Re: The last ten monthly messages for unbelievers Here are two very profound messages from Medjugorje. Our Lady speaks of a time when she will no longer appear and no longer give montly messages. She says we will 'lament' for these messages. She encourages us to reflect on this and to 'every day read the messages I have given you and transform them into life' and also to 'live all of the words I have given you through this time of grace'. Dec 25th 1989 Dear children! Today I bless you in a special way with my motherly blessing and I am interceding for you before God that He gives you the gift of conversion of the heart. For years I am calling you and exhorting you to a deep spiritual life in simplicity, but you are so cold. Therefore, little children, I ask you to accept and live the messages with seriousness, so that your soul will not be sad when I will no longer be with you, and when I will no longer lead you like insecure children in their first steps. Therefore, little children, every day read the messages that I have given you and transform them into life. I love you and therefore I am calling you all to the way of salvation with God. Thank you for having responded to my call. ” 25th August 1997 'Dear children! God gives me this time as a gift to you, so that I may instruct and lead you on the path of salvation. Dear children, now you do not comprehend this grace, but soon a time will come when you will lament for these messages. That is why, little children, live all of the words which I have given you through this time of grace and renew prayer, until prayer becomes a joy for you.
] The Pope said some very profound things about Apparitions and belief when he visited Fatima. He mentioned that that, 'It was not the Church that imposed Fatima,but that it was Fatima that imposed itself on the Church'. He went on to say that places such as Fatima bring hope but that it has a transendental and vertical dimension rather than a horizontal one. He also added that the confrontation between the Secular and Religious systam can lead to 'real suffering' and a 'journey to the core of our being'. I think the Pope has such a wonderful way of getting really to the heart of the matter. When he talks of an apparition site like Fatima having a vertical , rather than a horizontal dimension I think that is why many, many Catholics have so much difficulty in being open to the mystical heart of our faith. For mysticism points upwards and inwards to the KKngdom of God. Its about prayer and Faith. Whereas the horixontal dimension seeks solutions in the secular. Thus it encourages the beiever to be a good Social Worker, Psychologist, Politicain, Anthroplogist, writer, scientist and so on, a good commitee member and so on.........but in places like Fatima , Medugorje, Betania and so on we have this wonderful lady in white coming down from heaven and asking us to pray, fast and do penance, to repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand............and well folks quite simply do not know what to do with this or where to go with it. Will this Lady sit on Commitees? Will she organise Finance? Will she give profound psychological insights to the human condition? At the best she seems irrelevant and at worst a distration, a kind of right wing stuck in whole reactionary obstacle to the, 'Real work' of the Church which I am afraid is often a kind of well meaning do goodery impulse to make things better and to collaborate with the secular in the march of progress. But I think these Apparitions give so much hope because that cut right through the nonsense of Secularism and so much of what we think of as the Church in Action. The Lady in White is a real wake up call and sign of hope. For atheists and agnostics are not going to be woken up from the sleep of unbelief from people who bow and scrape to them and go along with them; the only thing that will wake them up is direct messages from heaven, like Fatima and Medugorje... Its a return to the living breathing , mystical heart of our faith, its a wake up call, it reminds us of what being a Catholic is all about. Its a bit like what our new Parish Priest is doing at the minute. He could have done a million things to try and save our Parish, new Comittees and building and money collecting schemes, new Social Projexts; but what he choose to do was to set up 24 hour Eucharistic Adoration. Prayer; just as Mary asked for!! .........and it going to work because Mary has shown us this is the way!! Its the same with unbelievers; I think we can argue with them until we are blue in the face, buts its fasting and praying for them that will eventually win through. Just look how many conversions we are having from Medugorje...hundreds, thousands..and from complete and absolute unbelievers...it just makes us repeat with Scripture, 'The finger of God is here'.
Padraig, your priest is most wise as is the Holy Father. True happiness comes from the vertical and not the horizonontal as you mentioned and it's great to have someone like you guide us who loves the mystical realities of the Church as the living, breathing body of Christ. Our Lady is doing her best to revive the body of Christ and revive the mystical in the Church. I was encouraged to read in the recent messages our Lady not only calling us 'her children' but 'my apostles' - this is a powerful endorsement of the grace of Medjugorje that there are those who have responded to our Lady, 'Totus Tuus' to the point that they have become apostles of the modern age - they may be hidden but are powerful intercessors before the throne of God. And it took only 12 apostles to transform the world 2000 years ago. Thus, our Lady also brings us hope, real hope that we as the body of believers can and will make a difference - indeed it is my sense that we will be of vital importance after the warning to lead many to Christ and to the Church to answer all those questions that people will ask and this forum has been a preparation for that time. Also of course there is the coming tribulation and we all will have our role to play - some of us might be martyrs, others by God's grace might live to see the triumph of the Immaculate Heart but might be quite old when the era of peace comes but it will be this century because our Lady has promised that it will happen - on 25 December 1999, on the cusp of the new millenium she said, 'Through your ‘yes’ for peace and your decision for God, a new possibility for peace is opened. Only in this way, little children, this century will be for you a time of peace and well-being. Therefore, put little newborn Jesus in the first place in your life and He will lead you on the way of salvation'. The path of conversion outlined by our Lady at Medjugorje is not easy rather it is exremely challenging and difficult. Conversion is not a one off act or even a process. It must be a continuous transformation, which lasts a life-time. I have come to realise this the hard way as I look into my heart and I am shocked by the remnants of old sin that still lurk and can flare at any time unless I resisit the sin - this purgative way is not easy but is necessary and will last a life-time as we are told by St Paul to work our salvation in fear and trembling, resisting the devil and he will flee - this purgative way also is difficult as it is the way of complete trust and often in dark nights where there appears to be no hope. Perseverance is rewarded by God for if we continue to seek first the Kingdom of God, he honours us - and Illuminates our Lives with his presence so in all of this process God is always close but we need to clear our hearts of sin for the King of Kings to come to dwell fully within and in this we are transformed from one degree of glory to another but the Light can also be purgative for our souls are sensitive to the Light of God if they are not purified, but in all things God works for our good and he provides both the means and the way for us to become holy. It is of course, all by Grace, that most beautiful of words, grace that leads us, saves us and transforms us but we must go to the well to ask to be filled. The purpose of God working in our souls is that He desires a spiritual union, like a spiritual marriage, the unitive way of love when we are fully in union with Love, for Love is the beginning and the end of the process of transformation to sainthood. How good God is as he has made us out of clay and he is also the potter that shapes us for his greater glory. Jesus spoke of the good tree providing good fruit some a hundred fold - likewise we produce fruit in the kingdom of God for the greater glory of God. In all of this we have a most patient God, incredible patience, like the prodigal Father waiting for us to run into His arms to cry 'Abba Father'. The reason why we all struggle so much is that deep within we can feel unloved and unlovable and unworthy of the love of God. But the reality is the complete opposite. The Father wants to lavish his love upon us but we choose to eat of the husks of the world and the flesh <the horizontal> whereas we need open out hearts to the Lord <the vertical> in the same way that we see pictures of Jesus as Sacred Heart with his Heart exposed we too need to 'pluck out our hearts' <not literally folks!> and give them to the God of love to transform us - it is like a heart transplant - God gives us His heart to Love with. The Love of God is a real mystery but the reality is 'if we knew how much God loved us' we would turn to jelly like a lover head over heals in love with his/her beloved. This morning my son awoke with a sore tummy and was in pain. I gave him a hug and wished the pain would leave him and come upon me. Our God loves us with such a love, a love that saves us from ourselves. He loves us more than we could ever imagine, so let's begin by trusting in that love. If we do we will not only grow in the Kingdon of God, we will be transformed because we will know that we are sons/daughters of the God of Love and all fear will leave us.
