Dolours, I think it is very possible that a Pope could take refuge in Fatima for a time especially since some prophecies state that a Pope will flee Rome and then return. There are also prophecies about a pope being detained against his will. You're correct we can keep speculating until the cows come home... When I stated that there will probably be a schism, I picture this happening when the AC begins his reign. Maybe the Pope will go back to Fatima a second time when the False Prophet assumes his role at the time of the AC? or Maybe this when the Pope is taken captive? I some times wonder if we will experience a sort of dress rehearsal soon of what happens right before the second coming. I mean maybe when the Warning occurs people may think it is the final judgment and then they will be wondering if Christ has returned. I think this may be why the RCC is adamant about us not believing in a Millennial reign of Christ as some of the Protestants believe. But they are supposed to convert, so who knows?

Looks like this topic slipped in the false prophet which followed with the addition of the AC in comments #s 34 and 35, 38, 40 and continued from that point. Seems then that any great monarch would necessitate an already existing nemesis and, voila, the backdrop of the AC (spirit and person of) naturally enters into the discussion. And perhaps why in several recent messages we are told to become more familiar with the truthful facts about Christ in scripture in order not to fall prey to the personage of the false one when times are desperate. Such a one may be THE reason for the rise of the great monarch. Whoever thought about even such an interest that now exists in France for a return of the monarchy before the more major terrorist attacks there recently?? Such a twinning of authority, holy and secular combo, would probably come closer though to the actual Era of Peace/Divine Will.
There could be more than one schism before the False Prophet appears on the scene. There have been anti-Christs dotted throughout history, there are anti-Christs alive now and could be more in the future before the "Man of Sin appears" on the scene. Doesn't the bible tell us that? There has been no shortage of false prophets throughout history and there's no shortage of them now. Nearly every heresy has been embraced and promoted by some prelate, priest or theologian, some heresies having had strong support within the Church and at least one supported by a majority of bishops. I sometimes wonder whether Old Testament prophecies that we are awaiting haven't already been fulfilled, the fulfilment being discounted because they don't fit our expectations that everything will happen in quick succession or in parallel. We have had dress rehearsals although not on a global scale. We only have to look at the Old Testament to see that we keep repeating our mistakes just like the ancient Israelites. One of the reasons I'm wary of "Warning" prophecies or related signs in the sky is that it could feed complacency, e.g. there's no need to examine our lives because the Warning will enlighten us as to what we need to fix, or no need to correct errors because I'm correcting my own life and others will get the message when the Warning sorts them out. In the article I linked to about La Salette, the writer posited that Charles DeGaulle could have been the Catholic monarch. We're surrounded by warnings. They are screaming at us but only those with eyes to see and ears to hear take any notice.
I understand that he will not be Arab nor Muslim and where that originated from, however, what is the reasoning behind his being Jewish and of the tribe of Dan? I have never read this nor am I well versed in the Church Fathers although I am doing my best to study their writing.

This one stands out right now: "He will restore the Church of Santa Sophia (in Constantinople)." (St. Bridget, 14th Century) The church became a mosque and now is a museum. I wonder if we would ever figure out who the AC is or the Great Monarch (until it happens?) but from prophecy we are told that the Great Monarch is immediately followed by the AC from Ven. Holzhauser and the following, "He will finally go to Jerusalem and lay down his Sceptre and Crown upon the Mount of Olives. Immediately afterwards, Antichrist will come." (Monk Adso, 10th Century) It is also interesting to think about how the Blessed Mother put a lot of the focus on Russia at Fatima. Richard67 has a point if you read some of the prophecies about the Great Monarch like the one that I posted above from St. Bridget, combine that with what Saint Paisios states, that Russia will conquer Turkey and return Constantinople to Greece, IDK. Again, it is probably best not to try and figure how who the players are but to take note of the signs that are around us and to keep praying. So far as a great Monarch goes I believe we will see this. When the AC rises and begins to assert his power across that of greater Europe not all will bend to his deceptions and plans. In fact, even now there are nations and leaders which are refusing to adhere to the decrees of the EU in how they are to govern their lands and people. Refusing to be bullied by the mob. I have wondered if the coming signs and the warning foretold will give rise to the restoration of this Monarchy as a heeding of its message and turning to that of Christ. This is the central point IMO however to all of this. What comes from this can not be ruled by nationalistic furor as this is not of God and in fact worships leaders rather than God. Similar to what we are seeing in large part in the US and places such as Turkey with a concerted effort to revive it's former glory.
I haven't time to look it up now, Don, but will later. Off the top of my head, it originates in an Old Testament condemnation of the tribe of Dan. At least one of the Church Fathers has written about it.
The following prophecy about the Great Monarch has Russia on the opposing side from the Great Monarch, "Russia, Sweden, and the whole North shall fight against France, Spain, Italy, and the whole South led by a powerful Prince." (Jasper the Peasant, 18th Century) So from St. Bridget's and Saint Paisios's prophecy about Constantinople, it appears that Russia may conquer Turkey but surrender Constantinople to Greece as Saint Paisios states. This could be because we are told that Russia will be converted after the Miracle at Garabandal, which may mean that the Warning was not quite enough for Russia in particular. I am obviously a believer in Garabandal.
In her earthly life, Our Blessed Mother was well educated in and was fervently awaiting the fulfillment of the the ancient Old Testament prophecies. Numerous Saints have told us that now that she is Queen of Heaven and Earth, she is the penultimate strategist in bringing about the defeat of the Dragon, and Christ has delegated her much authority when it comes to planning strategy on the spiritual battlefield. When Our Lady comes to us in approved apparitions, it is largely in the role of a strategist looking for men and women who will cooperate in the spiritual war. Our Lady put strategic emphasis on Russia 100 years ago and boy did she know what she was doing: today Russia is the only nation on earth that is actively opposing and fighting the designs of Freemasonry, and standing up for rights of Christians at home and abroad. I believe that one of the firstfruits of the 1984 Conscecration was the rise of Vladimir Putin. I believe he responded personally to grace made available in the Consecration. He virtually singlehandedly restored Russia to where she was prior to 1917. To me, this is Fatima playing out before our very eyes. Putin comes closer to fulfilling the Great Monarch prophecies than any other figure in 100 years. He singlehandedly stands against an apostate, and antichristian West and the evidence of this is in our headline daily with the demonization of Russia and Putin. None of this would make any sense from a purely secular standpoint. It only makes sense for those of us who understand the Fatima apparitions and take seriously approved Catholic prophecy. The secular world scoffs at God and calls him a delusion, so they will miss the fulfillment of the prophecies as they unfold in their midst.
Thanks Delours, I will spend some time looking for this. I remember reading of this condemnation but I am very bad about remembering chapter and verse. I will search for this however with regards to the Fathers and see what I can find.
