This makes me laugh. When I was little I'd smash them with heel of my shoe on the pavement and then pick out the meat and eat it. The germs!!! What was I thinking! But that's what I did.

There is one thing I am curious about; I know his is political but I was just wondering.

There was never any chance of the Impeachment process succeeding because the Republican Senate would never support it.

Experienced and skillful Democrats like Nanci Pelosi would have known this anyway.

Given that they would also have know that a failed impeachment would greatly increase President Trump's reelection propects (and they would have known this too)..then I am a bit baffled as to why they are going ahead with this , well charade?
It seems as though Democrats are kinda shooting themselves in the foot?;)

I think this is part arrogance and part desperation. Some of them are in serious legal trouble it would appear. Durham and Barr have them under investigation. Some heinous possibilities for crimes if the man y investigative reporters can be believed. It's all optics. Trying to influence opinion and bring down DJT's poll numbers. How it will play out who knows. I pray truth wins and God arises and scatters His enemies. This is a pitched battle to the death I fear.

To add to this well written comment, I believe that they hope to cause chaos and people won't believe the truth because of the seeds planted by the Democrats when it comes out. I can see a ugly civil war in the near future.

AED and you have it exactly right. As soon as the liberals heard that Barr and Durham had gone to Italy etc to get the facts on the deep state spying/treason on Trump they rushed this impeachment farce out to set up a counter narrative. They are trying to create the impression that when the indictments of the coup plotters starts it is because Trump is trying to save himself. The leftist base now won’t believe the truth of what the coup plotters did and yes, civil war is increasingly likely. #DiabolicalDisorientation

Thanks. American politics is so interesting, though I don't think I will ever understand it all. Currently it reminds me of St Paul talking of, 'War in the heavenly places'.

I think you do understand it, because you just posted it with scripture. Just like Ireland who had the great Saint Patrick who battled the devil, America founded by faithful Christians under God, are now under the same diabolical attack that every country in the world seems to be. US political foes have now clearly manifested their sides. Globalist agenda or the agenda of freedom and allegiance to God as our national anthem sung before sporting events even states. I look for that to be thrown out some time soon too, if the godless get their way as they seem to be.

Yes the devil is very, very powerful indeed. I have the prayer of St Michael by my bedside and I try to recite it at least once a day.
    Also this:
Sub Tuum Praesidium: We Fly to Thy Protection

We fly to thy protection, O holy Mother of God, despise not our petitions in our necessities, but deliver us always from all dangers, O glorious and blessed Virgin.

I keep trying to memorise prayers but never seem to manage. I was up at the Latin Mass today and I suddenly just realised they never pray the St Michael prayer at the end of mass. I must ask about this. It is surprising.

All our new priests are American. From the Institute of Christ the King. It is so touching they come all the way over here to open a new Church. They are very, very strict. But I love this.
    So very young too!

I was talking to the Lord about not remembering the words to all these prayers but the Lord told me to just use my own words , that that would be even better as it came much more from the heart.:)

Still I do love the old prayers.:)

    Padraig,

We sing this beautiful prayer at the end of our Latin High Mass every Sunday. I’m having my girls start learning all the Mass responses in Latin and they’re loving it! :)

It's such a simple little prayer, only a line really. But it must be very, very powerful ; it gets recommended all over the place.

I read somewhere that Our Lady's favourite prayer is, 'Oh Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee'.

    I could well believe it.

It does seem mad to me. But I am not an American and worried I had missed something. It doesn't seem very patriotic as it would very much hurt the country. In fact it already has. It seems to miss the bigger picture than goes beyond sectional politics. It lacks any kind of vision. Or even common sense.

I guess George Soros is really, really mad Hillary isn't President.

Mr. Soros must pay the clowns in D.C. good money to carry on and on.

I also (God honestly forbid I am right) think Democrats would / will - despite their opposition to the 2nd Amendment (the right to bear arms) - arm foreigners here illegally to fight and kill citizens because "it's their right to be here." I seriously would not put it past them. Anyone opposed to illegal immigration is "a Nazi" according to them, and so...

It isn't madness, but a calculate long-game play. It is uncommon (less than 50%?) for a two-term president to be followed by a president from the same party. That usually happens because the two-term president was very, very popular. It is even less common for such a president to serve two terms. Each election cycle (every two years, with elections to the House and Senate) brings new problems, and people want to see if the new guys can solve these problems better than the old guys.

In 2016, the pundits and poll-takers lived in an echo chamber and heavily discounted Trump's support among the "uneducated class", which is what lead them to predict a Clinton landslide. As soon as the results were announced and confirmed, the Left started the narrative that Clinton had been robbed of the election, mostly because she won the popular vote but not the electoral vote. The problem with that narrative is that if you take votes on a county-by-county basis, the votes for Trump show a slim but clear majority, EXCEPT in the counties that make up the urban New York City area, where they were predominantly Democrat. The number of votes for Hillary in those places almost exactly matches the number of votes by which Hillary won the popular vote

This difference between popular and electoral votes has also led to calls from the Left to abolish the Electoral College. Well, the Founding Fathers were not idiots. The Electoral College was set up to make it much more difficult for more populous, urbanized states such as New York, to force their will upon the less populated, more agrarian states, such as Virginia. It was a balance of power. America is between 4,500 and 5,000 square miles; those counties in New York total around 500 square miles. If we were using the popular vote, those 500 square miles would be forcing their will upon the 5,000 square miles.

The Left has been calling for Trump's impeachment since 15 minutes after he took the oath of office (which is when an online editorial for the Washington Post called for it). The whole Russia probe was to show they had enough evidence to impeach Trump; so why after all that money spent has the Muller investigation gone into a dark hole? Before that, there was the money his agents paid a porn star for her silence, which raised such an outcry among Democrats. But, no one who called for his impeachment then seemed willing to discuss similarities between Trump's actions now and Clinton's actions then, paying his former secretary hush money to keep quiet regarding an alleged sexual assault.

The Democrats are willing to go through this now because it's a win-win for them:
    1. If they ARE able to successfully impeach Trump, either this term or next term, it will be their proof positive to the electorate that the Democrats have the interests of the republic at heart and, though it took years and Gawd-know how many dollars, they and they alone saved the Republic.
    2. If they CAN'T impeach Trump before the end of his second term, it's unlikely that the Republicans will be able to find someone like him who has his eyes and ears on what worries "the uneducated classes". The Republicans may win one more consecutive term, but guess what? That's 4 more years (2020-2024), possibly 8 (2024-2028), from today that the Left has to be teaching the "educated classes" about the wonders of "democratic socialism".

Eventually the pendulum will swing back, and the Democrats just have to hold the line long enough for that pendulum to swing, and they then can work to guarantee that someone with their views, if not their party, will always be in control.

    Some ways to do that:
    1. Pass laws in each state making it so those convicted of "hate speech" are permanently stripped of their voting rights. We are currently going through a stage where convicted felons, after serving their time or finishing parole, can get their voting rights restored. (Personally, I've come to favor that -- either someone had become rehabilitated or not.) This could be done in conjunction with stripping the right to vote from anyone convicted of terrorism or of being part of a hate group.
    2. The Southern Poverty Law Center has recently declared the Roman Catholic Church to be a hate group, the largest one in the country. This has kept a number of Catholic Charities from participating in charitable giving plans created by Amazon -- if you're on the SPLC list, you can't be an acceptable charity.
    3. Law schools could follow in Canada's lead by denying accreditation to any law school (or, heck, any college) that attempts to enforce a religious morality upon students and faculty.
    4. As socialized medicine spreads, we could follow Britain's lead in denying medical licenses to any doctor or nurse that refuses to perform legal procedures that violate their sincerely-held religious beliefs.

All of these possibilities would serve to exclude faithful Catholics and faithful Christians as well as a number of Jews and Muslims from having any input or influence into the political or professional life of the country. We would be second-class citizens -- remember, if you can't vote, you can't get your name on jury pools, so you are excluded from the justice system.

As an example of this happening right now, there is a Catholic charity in California that has remodeled and set up a former convent to be used as a shelter, complete with medical care and counselling, to help heal girls in the 11-15 year old range who have been rescued from gangs who were forcing them into prostitution, sometimes up to 10 times a day. The shelter is ready to go, but the Democratic administration of California is blocking their getting a license because they refuse to drive girls to abortion clinics or to take them to doctors for transgender hormonal treatments. The State of California says that because of this, their services don't meet basic medical treatment standards. The plan seems to be to drag their feet on licensing, then as soon as the charity runs out of money and has to sell the center, to force it to sell to a group with "proper" and "correct" views.

O MARY, CONCEIVED WITHOUT SIN, PRAY FOR US WHO HAVE RECOURSE TO THEE!
