The only thing I would add is we have our weapon to defeat evil and it isn't by the gun, but by the rosary! I am no pacifist by a long shot, but it will only be by the beads that we will find victory.

 

Agreed and have said my daily rosary every morning since my consecration last year.

Let's put it this way, if you want to protect your family, friends, and yourself and allow all of you to continue to pray your daily rosaries, I highly recommend obtaining and learning how to use protection

Anyone see the interview with folks who live by the burned down CVS store... touched my heart!!!! Elderly folk who were so Greatful to have a conveince store/pharmacy so close to home. Now the closet one is a Mile away in any direction, so so sad!

 

Yet the good, who way out numbered the bad in these areas, did nothing to stop it..... nor did the police. It was simply Satan's puppets doing there thing.

 

One mother saw her son on TV looting, and did something about it. Not my style, but there are times when a good whomping is called for...

A local TV news reporter stumbled upon a touching and hopeful scene in the midst of ongoing chaos and violence in Baltimore: an impromptu prayer circle that she called “raw, and real and powerful.”

Deborah Weiner of WBAL-TV said that she noticed a group of individuals standing in a circle near the ashes of a community center that burned down earlier this week. The group sang and prayed to God, calling for peace, thanking God for protection and pleading for guidance.

“Please reach out and touch these young people. Give them courage and stretch and wisdom to do and make the right decisions and right choices, father God,” one woman passionately prayed, as the group joined hands. “We will rebuild.”

Another woman proclaimed that, despite the chaos, she knows that God is “going to build something bigger and greater” for the community.

At one point the Rev. Donte Hickman of Southern Baptist Church in Baltimore stood in the center of the group and said that he was heartened to see the faithful coming together to pray and move the community forward.

“We allow the negative to make us be positive,” he said. “We know that the devil — whatever he meant for evil — God is going to turn it around and work it out for our good.”

He continued, “God is going to have the last word.”

The prayer circle appeared to take place near the Mary Harvin Transformation Center, a not-yet-completed building that burned down earlier this week. The $16 million project was slated to include senior living apartments, counseling, health programs and other educational programs that are much-needed in the community.

Hickman and his church have been heavily involved in the revitalization project, with the mysterious fire leaving him “disheartened and bewildered,” according to CNN.

The blaze is currently under investigation.

 

A wonderful priest came and gave the 4 night mission at our parish this past Lent. I felt called to go to this one and there were many things he talked of that I took notes on and keep on my smart phone and read every morning, this one speaks to what we're discussing here:

He said "God would never allow the evil and bad things that happen unless it was a part of his loving plan for the future . . . where sin abounds, Grace abounds more".

Keep the faith, people. God wins. We are going to go through battles and attacks and will have to physically defend ourselves and families, and priests probably, but trust in God and keep your eye on that light that He guides us towards

 

Interesting article and once again, it's the African bishops who are speaking out even about the politicians here in the US like Clinton. I am becoming more convinced that the Church is going to be renewed through bishops like the ones in Africa and other parts of the developing world.

My wife and I were at a prayer service a few years back and we met a priest from Africa (I think it was Nigeria) and we provided him with a small donation for his parish. We got to talking and we shared our Irish-American heritage. I also shared that my grandfathers best friend from Ireland growing up became a bishop in the former Tanzania. This priest lit up and shared he was catechized by Irish priests in Africa. He then said the most remarkable thing. He felt it was Gods plan that as Catholicism and vocations flourish in Africa, they would now re-catechize Ireland and the US other western EU countries. I think he is right and we are already seeing this, but perhaps it will be these African bishops who will lead the Church in the near future.

And now in the spirit of government knows best (even in how we raise and discipline children) she is under investigation by CPS. Is it me or does anyone else see hypocrisy here. The same government that says it must "protect" the choice to kill a baby and marry someone of same sex, says a parent does NOT have the right to chose how to punish THEIR child. There is a differnce between child abuse and what this mom did. I'm not even sure this is what I would have done, but her "right" to do it is clear to me. What a world- abort a child is ok, but punishing is not. Please Lord come soon!!

The THOSE IN BONDAGE prayer does sound like a prayer for souls at the Warning. Our hearts are stabbed at the thought of the loss of "even one more soul." The reason I said what I did about one day, no more suffering.

Now I must say, I am sorry, I was WRONG (my words in quote above kathy's kind words) and should not pray such a prayer.

This was a personal prayer, that is all. Reading the latest John Leary, no, this will never happen.

I was not aware there were others speaking about the same, mine being a prayer. I do know, there is a present back and forth arguing about who is there and the number in Hell.

Even if we pray a prayer that is "wrong", if it's done out of love, I don't think it displeases the Lord. He gently corrects us if we have ears to hear.

 

I just read the article below and if you have sometime it us really worth the few minutes. As we watched the riots in Baltimore this week, I commented to my wife that these people are wrong- this reaction to violence is wrong, but I understand their frustration. I'm not convinced it is all a racial divide as much as it is an economic divide. The accumulation and disparity of wealth distribution in the US to the very few is getting worse. Jobs are not easy to cone by even for the college educated. The wages paid for lower jewel jobs are a pittance. And this is coming from a guy who still labels himself "conservative".

To add to this economic mess, I completely agree with the writer that the absence of fathers in the African American community is contributing to the crumbling of this group. I find it ironic in a way that we see what the absence of mere earthly fathers cause to a society and yet we reject and keep our Heavenly Father out of our society too. God has been removed from our schools and our public squares and we wonder why we gave chaos in our cities? It seems to me if we want to rebuild these communities, cities, and really the entire nation, the first step must be a HUGE apology and act of Reparation to God for ignoring Him and in many cases working against Him. And then we need to implore Him to come back into our personal lives and our little homes before we can change communities. In human terms, I must admit it seems almost hopeless, but with God all things are possible. And I know it must start simply and with prayer. Peace
