    Jackie;

Thinking of hell is like a knife in my heart. I wish that it didn't have to exist, but the great gift of free will and God's perfect justice requires it. Lately I've been petitioning the Holy Spirit for such a tsunami of grace on this sinful humanity that the passion and death of our Lord would not be in vain for even one more soul.

I've also started praying again a beautiful novena given by the Blessed Mother to the Queen of Mercy prayer group in Lubbock, Texas in 1988 (which sure sounds like a prayer for the illumination of conscience):

    PRAYER FOR THOSE IN BONDAGE

Forgive them Father: forgive them for they know not what they do. Please, Father in heaven, with all your love and mercy, we plead for our brothers and sisters who are in bondage and held captive at this time.

Please, Father, give them even a few seconds of clear vision to know you and love you without the deception of this world and the lies that Satan use to blind us. That our brothers and sisters may have a chance of saying “yes” to you just as our Blessed Mother did. That they may have a chance of being in paradise with you. And, Lord, create in them a new heart worthy of this paradise. Amen.

I think of Hell often. It is very helpful to avoid sin .
Stories of the damned are to help us , not entertain us, or hope it can all disappear...
    APPARITIONS OF THE DAMNED
St. Antoninus, Archbishop of Florence, relates, in his writings, a terrible fact which, about the middle of the fifteenth century, spread fright over the whole North of Italy. A young man of good stock, who, at the age of 16 or 17, had had the misfortune of concealing a mortal sin in confession, and, in that state, of receiving Communion, had put off from week to week, month to month, the painful disclosure of his sacrileges. Tortured by remorse, instead of discovering with simplicity his misfortune, he sought to gain quiet by great penances, but to no purpose. Unable to bear the strain any longer, he entered a monastery; there, at least, he said to himself, I will tell all, and expiate my frightful sins. Unhappily, he was most welcomed as a holy young man by his superiors, who knew him by reputation, and his shame again got the better of him. Accordingly, he deferred his confession of this sin to a later period; and a year, two years, three years, passed in this deplorable state; he never dared to reveal his misfortune. Finally, sickness seemed to him to afford an easy means of doing it. “Now is the time,” he says to himself; “I am going to tell all; I will make a general confession before I die.” But this time, instead of frankly and fairly declaring his faults, he twisted them so artfully that his confessor was unable to understand him. He hope to come back again the next day: an attack of delirium came on, and the unfortunate man died.

The community, who were ignorant of the frightful reality, were full of veneration for the deceased. His body was borne with a certain degree of solemnity into the church of the monastery, and lay exposed in the choir until the next morning when the funeral was to be celebrated.

A few moments before the time fixed for the ceremony, one of the Brothers, sent to toll the bell, saw before him, all of a sudden, the deceased, encompassed by chains, that seemed aglow with fire, while something blazing appeared all over his person. Frightened, the poor Brother fell on his knees, with his eyes riveted on the terrifying apparition. Then the damned soul said to him: “Do not pray for me, I am in here for all eternity;” and he related the sad story of his false shame and sacrileges. Thereupon, he vanished, leaving in the church a disgusting odor, which spread all over the monastery, as if to prove the truth of all the Brother just saw and heard. Notified at once, the Superiors had the corpse taken away, deeming it unworthy of ecclesiastical burial.

Our souls are Eternal. To pray otherwise ... [ I better not say]

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom. The only thing I would say is that no soul ends up in hell by accident. It comes down to a matter of choice. God wants us to avoid hell much more than we even would ourselves, He loves us so.

Sometimes we might wonder to ourselves reading such stories , 'If he had done this or if he had done that, or if he had had more time'. With such a loving God there are no need for what if's.....we will all of us have all the time necessary to do what is needful. We won't fall into hell by accident, if we go there it will be purely under our own steam.

The reason I asked if God hates (you know who) is because God is Love. All He created was good and done out of Love. So I can't see Him hating anything He created even if it turns away from Him. I see His Love being so great that He separates those who do not want to be with Him (i.e. disobedience) and instills Justice.

I would certainly understand hating evil and the choices made. But I was just pondering. I don't know or wish to debate. I didn't know if there was anything the Church had written which addressed this in the past.

    God Bless!

I would say it is impossible for God to hate since as St John says,

    1 John 4:8

Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

On the other hand Scripture sometimes speak of God , say, being, 'Angry' too and God cannot be angry since God is in and of Hos perfect nature always at peace. This is an anthropomorphism , placing human qualities on God in order the better to understand Him. So we frequently portray God the Father as a sweet old man with a beard and a smile. when of course He is no such thing.:)

So when we use such anthropomorphisms I guess if we take them with a pinch of salt we do little enough harm.

But I think, rather than say God, 'Hates' the devil I found a more telling phrase...as in the prayer to St Michael the arcangel..is, 'May God rebuke Him.' . .That word, 'Rebuke', I always found very telling. I would not like to be, 'Rebuked' by God!!

Unfortunately, it looks like this is the future of the once free US. So a company engaged in business now cannot decide who, when, and how to sell! Remember, this has nothing to do with government funding. This is all independent transactions. Leaving the SSM stuff aside, this ruling is so an egregious attack on fundamental rights and foundations of this country- yet the "sheeple" just plod a long. Also not that the "go fund me" site has clearly taken sides. I for one will never use or make a donation through them ever again. If someone or cause needs help that I support, I will take the time to find them and give direct support.

I think the bottom line is indeed what Padraig said, that we must know that human emotions cannot properly describe God, but I do want to share this amazing excerpt from one of my favorite's of C.S. Lewis, Perelandra, in which he describes the main protagonists literal fight with a demonic entity:

Then an experience that perhaps no good man can ever have in our world came over him- a torrent of perfectly unmixed and lawful hatred. The energy of hating, never before felt without some guilt, without some dim knowledge that he was failing fully to distinguish the sinner from the sin, rose into his arms and legs till he felt that they were pillars of burning blood. What was before him appeared no longer a creature of corrupted will. It was corruption itself to which will was attached only as an instrument. Ages ago it had been a Person: but the ruins of personality now survived in it only as weapons at the disposal of a furious self-exiled negation. It is perhaps difficult to understand why this filled Ransom not with horror but with a kind of joy. The joy came from finding at last what hatred was made for. As a boy with an axe rejoices on finding a tree, or a boy with a box of coloured chalks rejoices on finding a pile of perfectly white paper, so he rejoiced in the perfect congruity between his emotion and its object. Bleeding and trembling with weariness as he was, he felt that nothing was beyond his power, and when he flung himself upon the living Death, the eternal Surd in the universal mathematic, he was astonished, and yet (on a deeper level) not astonished at all, at his own strength. His arms seemed to move quicker than his thought.

Baltimore Businesses Shut Down Amid Threat of Violence
    UPDATED: April 27, 2015 3:26 p.m.

WASHINGTON — The Baltimore Police Department says they have received a credible threat that numerous gangs have entered into a partnership to “take-out” law enforcement officers.

According to the department, they have received credible information that various gangs including the Black Guerilla Family, Bloods and Crips have entered into the partnership.

“Law enforcement agencies should take appropriate precautions to ensure the safety of their officers,” the department says in a press release.

Evil is whipping up the same "get them!" sentiments in our African American community that has been whipped up amongst the Muslims against Christians in the Middle East. This will not end well and will continue to spread as the storm deepens.

I urge everyone who can, to get yourself a weapon and a concealed carry so you can protect yourselves and your family. I have been praying often to our Holy Mother for peace of heart and to give me the grace of having mercy towards these poor souls who have been won over by evil and are attacking innocent people. Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do. But if they come after my family, friends, or clergy, they will face fierce resistance.

I'm hoping it does not spread to other cities. It has the feel of the late 60s. How ironic that we have gone backwards in race relations under our first African Anerican President.

Surreal scenes and very sad. I haven't watched much coverage since I worked all day in a store and then straight to adoration so I didn't even know this was happening until 11pm. But based on what I have heard, it almost sounds like the cops retreated for whatever reason and people really started looting then and then it totally got out of control. Why the retreat? Where is the national guard? Why no curfew tonight? That I find strange. The guard is supposedly there and ready for backup. And yeah I hope this does not spread to other cities.

Have you ever read Rules for Radicals? This is being fomented by the progressives. It's not incompetence, it's actually quite competent in that this is the chaos they want to break out. The same agitators that were in Ferguson came into Baltimore in the past 2 weeks to whip up the frenzy. This is all part of their plan to create dissent and chaos and yes they want it to spread nationwide so the govt. in their infinite wisdom can intervene and take more control "for peace and to protect".

The interviews I saw last night during the chaos were shocking. Two African American men about 50 years old talked about how this was their neighborhood and they didn't like the rioting but they understood why people were doing it and then one turned to the camera and said that surburbia/white people better understand they've had enough and threatened that it would spread to us. This is evil taking over good people's hearts and turning black against white, secular against Christian, rich vs. poor, people against cops, neighbor against neighbor.
The rioters seemed possessed. It made me think of what it must have been like in Rwanda.

This will spread, it will get worse, the nation is a tinderbox waiting to explode and what you saw last night is what will occur on a massive scale everywhere in the country when the economy implodes and the EBT cards go silent. Obama has done a masterful job of sowing discord and us vs. them mentality. When people say he is incompetent they do not understand what his goals are. He has been quite effective in undermining the economic foundation of the country, of weakening our military, of building up his federal police force, or making people suspicious of and not trust our local police, and of turning brother against brother and sister against sister in our country.

Again, if you can, find a way to defend yourself. What you saw last night will happen on a massive scale. This is just a small look at the widespread chaos that is coming.

There is much consternation & unease “Out-There” in the USA (Western World). I’m afraid we are witnessing “The Transformation of America” and the “Trigger” that will bring bring about all the “unpleasantness” we have been discussing recently :(
