Start at the beginning and read through to the page where Padraig posts this, page 17. After that page the thread loses some of its initial intent, and Padraig's icons seem to get lost.

Thank you for the bump Potatosack...

I think newcomers should be reminded to start at the beginning of this thread and read all the icons that Padraig put here for our discernment.

This thread tends to go off on all kinds of crazy spiritual and political tangents as it sparks dialog and emotion and insights with so many members. Padraig, would it be possible for you to post all the icons (and maybe a handful of insightful responses) onto a static (no further comments allowed) topic thread where a newcomer can go to read through them in less than 17-22 pages?

Then comments can be posted on this thread. Maybe a link could be added to bring them here for comments.

    What do you think?

    Thank you

On page 16 of this thread, Daniel has put together a pdf version to read of the icons

I just started reading back over this thread, as suggested, and... wow... this insightful post by Padraig back in 2010 really touches my heart. It wasn't too long after this that things took a turn for the worse for Fr Corapi. Does anyone know what has become of him? A nun my mother met at the Divine Mercy Conference in Dublin in February said he has returned to his order to live in obedience, I pray that this is true.

Sorry, I know I am digressing here, but I had to ask.

Somewhere we had a topic started for updates on him too. I also have heard that but not officially. I hope it is true too. He helped so many people when he was wielding his rosary for us publically. We prayed for him a lot on this forum back then. I am still praying.

The case of Fr Corapi is a disturbing one.
I thought he was great. his conversion story is awe inspiring.
    he was courageous, fearless, knowledgable.
I looked up to him, downloaded his sermons, and learned a lot from him. I suppose his conservative views, zero tolerance for new age, and pro life stance was hugely hugely impressive.
I was shocked at what happened, though I had noticed 'odd' things just before his public crisis: He rarely appeared in the grey habit, posted above. He now wore a black suit.
But most shocking of all was his weight loss and the weird dyed black goatee.
Nobody knows the details of exactly what happened.
Im not putting much weight in the endless list of blogs/commentary listed on the internet. All of the 'details' in them is second hand info.
So far, and I do check regulary, as far as I know, there is no new info.
I am greatly comforted by what Adoremus posted above regarding the conversation with the nun. I really hope thats true.

I'll continue to pray for him.

He pops into my prayers from time to time, so I am also hopeful about this news.

Mel Gibson also comes before me in prayer. His "Passion of the Christ" was such a masterpiece, and his epic "crash and burn" so tragic.

He and Fr. Corapi both remind me how great works for God attract all hell to break loose.

As my dear mother always says, "There but for the grace of God go I..."

The insidious attack that has been directed at the hierarchal priesthood has also been directed at the preisthood of the family. Father Corapi's teachings were filled with Truth, and the fruits were very good, and real. He made himself a very large target for the evil one. Maybe we all failed to pray enough for him and many other priests (and fathers in our families).

God has been teaching me about Mercy for some time now, and that is what my heart feels for Father Corapi whenever his name is mentioned. The parable of the debtors, and the example of the right and wrong response to God's Mercy is so clear to me know. NONE are righteous, and all must repent and turn toward the Mercy of Christ, and then live that Mercy toward all others.

Yes. Sympathy and compassion are fine , but we all make our choices....

I don't equate any feelings of sympathy or compassion with the Mercy I am called to have toward all who have sinned (which is everybody).....

Our Father Who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name
Thy kingdom come, Thy Will be done, One earth as it is in heaven,
Give us this day our daily bread,
And FORGIVE US our trespasses AS WE FORGIVE those who trespass against US,
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
    Amen

...Forgive us (exactly) As we forgive.... (like a metaphysical, mathematical equation of Mercy & Justice)...
...We all pray this to our God many times each day, and at every Mass...We better mean it...

Fr Corapi shows us anyone can fall at any time...and fall very hard too. As soon as we stray from the sacraments, Mary, and being humble (knowing we can do nothing without God), then we will fall.

stan knows our weaknesses and how to make us fall. as soon as you become someone who leads people back to God, you are a primary target in the cross-hairs. I do believe it is easier for non-believers to not believe in stan, because he probably leaves them pretty much alone since their souls are where he wants them. but if you are leading people back to God, constant attacks I would presume. I would also presume there is constant grace there to overcome it all.

I still wonder if he became possessed...we may never know the full story.
