Thank you for telling us I too feel a heaviness--a kind of holding one's breath in the spiritual atmosphere. Waiting for the other shoe to drop. Prayer has been crushingly difficult lately. As if the spiritual oxygen is growing thin.
Today (Divine Mercy Sunday) was a great consolation to me. Our family has been under attack heavily and today was a drop of consolation after a bitter Lent. The attack is ongoing and I needed strength to continue. I took you all to Mass with me and hope this day was a bit of refreshment for you as well. Onward Christian soldiers as our Pastor likes to say...
it’s sounds like we are all united in a special way. We truly are the Mystical Body. I can fully relate to what you are saying. Many graces today on Divine Mercy Sunday. We have a new priest at our parish and it’s his favourite feast day. He set up a beautiful altar to Divine Mercy and we had a basket of rose pedals beside it.Each parishioner went and knelt down and took some rose petals and prayed. The altar was covered with the scent of Our Lady too. Adoration and Confession and he blessed us all with Jesus in the monstrance. The battle is intense in every way……but He won’t abandon us
I would like to add: watch out for attacks on your marriages and on your families. Lock the gates against anger, disappointment and unforgiveness - not by burying hurts, but by forgiving. Especially when you least feel like it. Yesterday, I allowed hurt to get the better of me and spent some hours nursing my wounds. Bless the soul on the Divine Mercy thread who posted a graphic of Jesus, with the exhortation to forgive. I went ahead and forgave although to be honest, I didn't much feel like it. The miracle of that act? Not only was quiet restored in my heart, God also showed He knew how hurt I was by 2 family members. By that sign, I learned once again that nothing escapes my Lord's merciful Heart.
once heard priest say that Jesus tells us to forgive and love the enemy. He said sometimes that “enemy” is your spouse, child or other family member. It’s not easy to forgive especially if you’ve been wronged but it’s a command. Grace. Thank goodness for a day like today where graces flow. Peace
We also had a beautiful celebration of the feast. Our pastor has a 4 foot image of the Divine Mercy placed in front of the altar for veneration. In addition to Mass earlier, we had adoration for 2 hours with a reading, a talk by the priest about Divine Mercy, hymns, chaplet, the Divine Praises, prayers for the Church, priests, the Pope and finally Benediction. During the 2 hour celebration there were 7 priests hearing confessions nonstop. By the providence of God, there was just enough time for all confessions to be heard. Praised be Jesus Jesus Christ, now and forever!
I too had a beautiful Divine Mercy celebration. Like many of you old wounds in my family & marriage were revealed to me and I got the grace to begin again. I thank Jesus for the wonderful grace of Divine Mercy Sunday. Today we get to celebrate the Annunciation. How wonderful. I will pray for you all today at Mass. Thank you all for your inspirational posts and your prayers and advice especially Padraig and John and those who moderate. May you be amply rewarded by Jesus and Mary.
I see we can see a partial eclipse here in Ireland at 7:55 just before sun down! It reminds me of that old film, 'A Yankee at the Court of King Arthur'. If you recall the hero was saved by predicting an eclipse. The Divine Mercy Celebrations were nice in the little country town of Enniskillen. I was a bit anxious about the conditions of the promised graces. But I checked and confession within 20 days of the Feast counts so that made me happy. A lot of people add other conditions but actually in the vision Jesus only asks for confession and the Eucharist. Nothing else. This is a relief as I always think IAM missing doing something.
As to what is coming the Good God desires only to help us not to hurt us. But at this stage I am afraid the only way He can achieve change is by kind of pressing the reset button. It is not to wound but heal. Still as has been said we move from the time of Mercy into the times of Justice as Jesus told St Faustina. The sun as a great sign must be part of this as we saw in Fatima with the Miracle of the sun and at Akita with talk of fire falling from the sky. The sun is a great way of getting folks attention. So happy and hopeful!
I learned something anew recently that made forgiving a tad easier. God taught me that not only did forgiving free me, it also meant that I was releasing the one who had hurt me into God's care and guidance.
I forgave and love my daughter more than anything. But it’s still painful. Still praying for a miracle on her life’s choices. I keep asking for one. He doesn’t seem to give me an answer to my why? I feel the heaviness too. Something coming.
