yes ,but i think he could reconstitute the city in iraq because this place is considered the cradle of civilization and religion ( false ) ;the book of revelation talks about demons trapped in the euphrates river; I imagine the whole world would be amazed if he did that; personally I think he will draw humanity into the opposite spiritual journey of Abraham out of Babylon into Canaan; in this case the second beast claiming to be a new Cyrus king (a kind of messiah for the Jews) will restore the cult of demons that operated in ancient Mesopotamia especially in Sumer and Babylon

@Byron , when some evangelicals and jews thought that donald trump was a kind of spiritual return of king cyrus, i started to study more the life of this biblical character that the bible calls anointed and concluded that the easiest way for jews to accept a non jew as messiah it is if he comes to try to imitate the figure of the foreign king who abolished the Babylonian captivity.

I just don’t see it. Because I feel this third era is about religion. The AC’s main obsession will be to destroy Christianity. His focus won’t be about the Jews, it will be about Rome.

Evangelicals keep going back to the Jews. It’s not the focus. They are wrong.

For all we know the AC may be Netanyahu. Apparently his administration has been quite aggressive against the Catholic’s in Israel recently. We shall see.

his focus is to wipe Christianity off the face of the earth but that doesn't stop him from taking with him as many followers of false religions as possible and even turning them into his army, I don't believe that the antichrist will be an atheist because the false prophet will making fire come down from heaven for people to believe in a false divinity, in fact apparently it was the desire to be worshiped as a god that led to Lucifer's downfall.

Supposedly, even the elect will be fooled. So he will be someone who many of our priests and bishops are comfortable with.

yes and that's why I mentioned the figure of King Cyrus; the Noble King Shepherd and Anointed of God; Imagine if a leader appears in the Middle East who stops the persecution against Christians initially (as Cyrus did with the Jews), if we have an Antipope at this time he can make a worldly alliance with this leader.

I agree with Mark Mallet, Frances Hogan and others who believe the AC comes before the era of peace. However, I am willing to change me mind with evidence that they are wrong.

Two of the best Catholic scholars on Prophecy Yves DuPont (Catholic Prophecy & Antichrist) and Desmond Birch (Trial, Tribulaiton and Triumph) both make a convincing case that the anti-Christ comes after the era of peace and towards the end of the world.

Werdin D'Otrante (13th century prophecy). "The Great Monarch and the great Pope will precede Antichrist. The nations will be at war for four years and a great part of the world will be destroyed. The Pope will go over the sea carrying the sign of Redemption on his forehead. The Great Monarch will come to restore peace and the Pope will share in the victory. Peace will reign on earth."

Also they make a convincing case that there are two periods of tribulation - the Lesser (Minor) Tribulation (followed by a period of peace) and then the Great Tribulation.

We are presently in the period of the minor tribulation awaiting the Great Catholic Monarch & Great Pope to usher in the era of peace prophecised at Fatima (after the Pope finally & properly consecrates Russia).

The Fatima prophecies indicated a period of peace. No mention of the anti-Christ in the Fatima propecies.

No menion of the anti-Christ at Akita, Japan.

The clear and definitive teaching of the Catholic Church is that before the coming of the anti-Christ the gospel must be preached and taught throughout the whole world.

    The Catechism of Trent
The Sacred Scriptures inform us that the general judgment will be preceded by these three principal signs: the preaching of the Gospel throughout the world, a falling away from the faith, and the coming of Antichrist. This gospel of the kingdom, says our Lord, shall be preached in the whole world, for a testimony to all nations, and then shall the consummation come.

The Church teaches that the anti-Christ cannot come before the Gospel has been preached throughout the whole world.

Pope John Paul II in his encyclical ‘Redemptoris Missio’ – promulgated in 1990 – a document that was written on the current state of the World’s Evangelization - he states clearly that the Evangelization of the world is not complete – even 'very far from over'.

In the introduction to Redemptoris Missio St John Paul II writes of the Church's mission of evangelization -
    1. The mission of Christ the Redeemer, which is entrusted to the Church, is still very far from completion. As the second millenium after Christ's coming draws to an end, an overall view of the human race shows that this mission is still only beginning and that we must commit ourselves wholeheartedly to its service. It is the Spirit who impels us to proclaim the great works of God: “For if I preach the Gospel, that gives me no ground for boasting. For necessity is laid upon me. Woe to me if I do not preach the Gospel!” (1 Cor 9:16)

Also Pope Benedict is a sermon on Sunday 28 June 2010 states absolutely that 'there are regions of the world that are still awaiting a first evangelization'.

So how can the anti-Christ be alive and here when both of these saintly Popes indicate that there are entire regions of the earth that have not yet received their initial evangelization and that indeed the Gospel has not yet been preached in its entirity to the whole world?

Yes, and doesn't the Church discourage us from speculating about the identity of the AC? I'm sure I have read that from reliable Catholic sources. There's a real danger of people being accused in the wrong, which strikes me as a serious sin on the part of the accuser. Anyway, I'm sure that true believers will be in no doubt when he shows up.

Yes, the anti-Christ will come in due course that is the definitive teaching of the Church but only after the Gospel has been preached to the entire world (which both St Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI have stated has not happened yet).

That's right. Those of us living in post-Christian countries tend to ignore the fact that a lot of the world hasn't been evangelised, hasn't gone through the stages of taking the Faith for granted, becoming lukewarm and then acting as though we were our own God before finally rejecting the existence of God. China alone has over a billion people yet to be evangelised. Maybe it's our Western mindset that leads us to speak as though God isn't as bothered about large numbers of humanity being numbered among the full complement of Gentiles.

I think that the main events might happen in the Holy Land after the conversion of the Jews. There's a strong argument for Jerusalem being mystery Babylon. The AC is expected to be of the tribe of Dan (although I don't know how anyone could trace that lineage now). Some Church Fathers believed that the AC would rebuild the Temple. Some people say that Jesus will return to the Mount of Olives although that's taken from Zechariah 14 which seems to describe the time of the destruction of the Temple but could also be referring to the Second Coming. I think that sometimes OT prophecies can have more than one meaning. I'm no scholar so maybe I'm wrong about that.

It's a while since I read The Lord of the World, so I could be mistaken but weren't the final days in that book set in Jerusalem?

I wonder how the “preaching of the gospel to all nations” plays in with the “illumination of conscience (the warning)”. Maybe the warning will catapult preaching to all nations because of what they just experienced.

This is what I understand of the illumination, it will precede the greatest preaching in the history of all of humanity. And this makes sense too because it will be the Holy Spirit that prompts it.

I don't understand the debate about the AC and why people want to argue about whether the AC of our times will be thee great one. This debate seems like a coffee table discussion that is a luxuty to have for a generation that has not experienced persecution yet! I doubt that those crucified by Nero were saying among themselves that they had it easy because the ones under Domitian would have it way worse. We'll get our own AC and already we can imagine some new forms of cruelty brought about by "science".

But it seems that if we were to live in peace for any length of time, people will revert to drinking and partying forgetting all about God which will lead to the mystery of iniquity being launched all over again and that will bring on a new AC. Purpleflower said it well when she pointed out that the severity of chastisements is proportional to our guilt and after the warning and period of peace, if we fall again we will be increasingly guilty.

Whether we have the infamous AC or not I don't know but it seems like a good thing for us all to believe that the ultimate AC is still to come because this belief will help people to live in the Will of God.

Yes. The final " consummation" takes place in Jerusalem. And the conversion of the Jews is one of the most significant signs.

The spirit of the anti-Christ is already in the world because we are approaching the second coming of Jesus Christ in History:

At present we are going through the Lesser Tribulation to be followed by a period of peace. This is followed by the Major Tribulation with the period of the anti-Christ and the end of the world.

So we are at the beginning of the end of the ages. This last period of time could last centuries. But some of the younger ones here might live to see the era of peace.

  19. 1.) Pharaoh = committed mass genocide on children = a messiah, Moses was chosen
2.) Herod = committed mass genocide on children = Jesus Christ the Messiah was present during this time

3.) Mass genocide of children in our lifetime: 60million ++ American babies dead,
and over 2.4 billion children aborted worldwide =

Consistency? If so, I believe The Messiah Jesus Christ would make his Second Coming...

just to make it clear i did not speculate on the identity of the antichrist but on the profile he will use to deceive people i vividly remember reading that sister lucia said that the third secret covered the book of revelation from chapters 8 to 13 , I think that this whole global movement of false ecumenism will end up in a false global religion and a false messiah.
