I love it too. There are probably special times for flying it such as fiestas, etc. I'm just thinking that if Padraig is right about chaos being on the horizon it would be better for him to do blend in as best he can by doing whatever the locals do. But Padraig is nobody's fool and I'm sure that he'll soon find his feet.

The beach by the river sounds idyllic.

Believe it or not they have a top pool in the village. It is a necessity really, in the heat, but it is good as I have seen in many a city.

I would love to see this monastery, it reminds me of the Greek Orthodox, Mount Athos and its not far away:

The monastery of San Pedro de Rocas
It is a monastery that has the particularity of being the oldest in Galicia and one of the areas with the most history that can be seen in the Ribeira Sacra and, specifically, in the Sil canyons. Was constructed

It dates from 573 AD and the walls and bell tower are still standing today.

I really love this Galician song, it's in the Galician language (the part that isn't in English) and it talks about Galician people.

I hope everything goes well with your move to the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula.

Fantastic. Lots to see there. How far from your house is the parish church and do they have daily Mass?

    Beautiful Padraig.
I've always had a soft spot in my heart for the great Jiminy Cricket, he always had something wise to say. Of course this was back before Disney went woke. I have a little stuffed Jiminy on my dresser, he makes me happy. :)

Yes one step at a time . You are doing a lot each day.
I almost got scammed last year and I nearly went crazy as I had so much paperwork changing bank accounts etc. I finally realized I had to just do two a day to keep sane.

I got a two calls a short time together from a lady who claimed that my bank account had been hacked. These calls can be quite sophisticated in that there appeared to be the sounds of a busy call centre in the background. Very convincing. I rang my bank's security department and she knew at once it was a scam. But she sounded so relaxed , almost bored by it all. These things must be commonplace now.

A couple of times in the past when contacted by such people I have reminded them that they are in very, very serious sin by lying, by cheating and by theft. One gentleman from Nigeria became so incensed by this he threatened to use witchcraft against me. I told them I was a Christian and a person of prayer and any demons sent against me would be repulsed and come back to him in a very, very bad mood. End of story.

Most of this stuff comes from Nigeria. Lagos in particular. But of course we aren't allowed to mention this.

The scams calls are from the devil, and yes, the are very convincing. They want you to react quickly out of fear. With the exception of family, we now let all of our calls go into voicemail.

Same here. Also be warned. The scammers can send very authentic looking texts from Amazon or credit cards. Always always call the company direct.

But then again Jesus Himself died between two scammers and one of them got into heaven straight away. I hope we may do the same.

Yesterday afternoon I went wandering round the West of the City parking my car in Clonard Monastery parking lot. To my horror when I returned I found I had lost my mobile phone. I am just on the point in the next few weeks of going to Spain and it was the last thing I needed. My Spanish Banking App and Sim where on that phone.. I could not replace them from Ireland.

So anyway I recalled being locked in a small park and crawling under a gate so reckoning that was where I lost it. So I sent of urgent prayers to St Anthony I sped off in my van. But no phone there. Pinged it going round the little park. Drove of to another Park. Now pitch black .

    No phone.

I got back home and rang my phone a few times from home. Someone found my phone in the dark and handed it in to the local fire station. Two lovely fire women met me and gave it back.

    Thank you St Anthony.

That is a downright miracle. God bless them one who took it to the fire station. God bless the firewomen!!!

I kind of think what are the chances that my phone would be found in the dark at the gate of a closed park, by an honest person who thought to hand it in right away to a local fire station so I could get it back more nor less right away?

    I calculate 65.785 billion to one. :):);)

I had a dream this morning were I was driving a car with an elderly grandmother and her grandchild (who I guess was about 8 year old) in the back seat. The car flew off the road high into the air and I saw it was going to crash into the ground far, far below and we were all most certainly going to die, there was no avoiding it. To my amazement and great consolation I saw that the grandmother and child both knew that they were about to die and were in complete acceptance of it as God's Will; that grandmother in particular. She was praying , 'May the Holy Will of God be done now and for ever!'. It was clear they were both set to go straight to heaven and that God was regarding them with great complacency and pleasure. Inspired by these two I made my own confiteor and prayers, poor though they were compared to these two.

I then saw myself at their funeral and the mother and an aunt were talking. I could see by their dress that they were from Eastern Europe. But these ladies too were very, very holy indeed. I could see by the way they accepted God's Will very deeply.

How good people can be! It reminded me of a story Fulton Sheen once heard when visiting Dublin, Ireland. He heard of a woman who had been hit by horses and a carriage which had run over and badly mangled both her legs. She was brought to a nearby hospital were nuns nursed her and she was to die later in mortal agony. The nuns were astonished how this woman died in perfect conformity to the Will of God and at great peace with all that was happening. The nuns knew they were dealing with a saint.

It reminds me too of a story a holy old priest from Cork told me one time. There was a storm at sea and the only son of a local woman was drowned. When the policeman told her what had happened and said he was sorry for her troubles she replied,

'Sure the Will of God is no trouble!'

Proverbs 3:5-6 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

20250120_100907.jpg Every morning at Mass there is a little old nun who , no matter how early I get in is there first. She stares at the Tabernacle hungrily as though she could eat it up. She must be praying at least an hour before Mass and stays on a while after. I notice how many people are keen to rush up to her and talk after Mass so I guess that she is not only very holy but everyone knows her as a Holy Woman.

Today is the 100th anniversary of the Canonisation of St Therese of Liseaux and we had a large picture of her in front of the altar which was blessed to make a shrine. I always sit in the same little alcove and to my surprised and delight they brought this picture in after Mass and set it up right beside me on a little easel and two pots full of little roses. A really lovely little thing. I took a picture of the photo which I placed below.

On the way out I saw the old nun before me and greeted he, I had never talked to her before. She said she had seen the utube video talking about meeting the Mother of God and how much she liked it.

I think of this morning as the morning of the two nuns. :)
