Some thoughts on the Souls in Purgatory

What an amazing woman! Her charism gave us so much information Bout the holy souls.

I've read this book many times over. I think that now that you've reminded me, I'll read it again! Thank you, Padraig!

 

She is so interesting. I believe in her.​

But I recall in the book some people tested her. They went to her and claimed they had a fictonal, 'Relative' who was dead and wanted to know if they were in heaven. Although they did not exist Maria told them they were in heaven. (its in the book).​

I still believe as does the author, but it reminded me of the constant need for caution.​

By the way in the book Maria Simma said both Garabandal AND Meduogorje are true.

Her local parish priest was favourable and only had good things to say about her. Her Bishop never disapproved and never shut her down. The Vatican never ruled either way.

 

I'll have to read the book again. I have about 5 going right now. I think her charism was true. We all make mistakes, and maybe the souls told her that this person was in heaven. They might have been talking about someone else. You don't always kill the messenger!! lol!!!

 

Hi i had been following this thread with interest because I have concern for the souls in purgatory

I wanted to add that I thiunk there may be people whom have been made to undergo a purgatory while they are still alive on earth. You know god grants them the privelege of expiating their sins before they actually die.

Do you know if you can tell me the prayers Our Lady specifically gave us to pray for the souls in purgatory. I know I read them somewhere else on this forum but do not remember where. Can you please help me?

 

There has always been one thing I have never understood about the Holy Souls and Padraig mentioned this earlier. There are Souls who are detained in purgatory until the end of the world. So should we pray for them or not? Do prayers help them? Or should we just pray for the Holy Souls generally and leave it to God.

Like Seven, I too would love someone to post specific prayers from Our Lady for them.

One thing that struck me as I was thinking of my Aunt Ruthe. When you pray for the Holy Souls, you never know for whom you are praying unless you pray for someone specifically. I didn't know about my Aunt Ruthe today when I was praying for the Holy Souls. I hope she benefited from my prayers. Some day, we might pray for the Holy Souls then die. Then, I assume, our prayers would be for us, too. God works in mysterious ways.

 

God is the best postal service of all.

Prayers for the Holy Souls is money in the bank. Although I suppose its not too good to lookat thing in too selfish a way.

I heard of a Buiness man who always gave 10% of his profits to have masses said for the Holy Souls. He claimed this is why he was so sucessful. I wouldn't doubt it. Maybe that's why Jesus said that the children of this world are more clever in this generation that the children of the next.

Nevertheless the Holy Souls pat their debts. I have never doubted it. Money in the bank, to be sure and massive interest.

 

As I age and come closer to the end of my life, I feel so blessed to know there is a place called Purgatory. What a gift from God!!!! I assume that I will spend a great deal of time there, but, in the end, it will be worth it!! God is good!!!

 

I always think of the Holy Souls at Christmas time. I know some Cahtolic legends have it that the most souls are released on the Feast of the Assumption, but I always thought it might be Christmas, there is such joy in the air at this time!!

She also explains the 'Gregorian Masses' for the Holy Souls that I only became aware of very recently. I intend to add a request for them onto my will.

Steve, I have read the same thing, too, about the Holy Souls. The heavens must ring with joy on Christmas when so many souls return home, at last!!!! God is good!!!

My mom has a very special relationship with the Souls in purgatory. Not only they come to her to ask for Masses and prayers, but even saved her life from the imminent death - a gas explosion from the electric light - but the light did not go on - the light bulb was unscrew, whereas my father has secured it on the day before.
