Vatican turns off fountains to conserve water for drought-hit Rome http://www.catholicnewsagency.com/n...to-conserve-water-for-drought-hit-rome-12566/ As far as is known, this is the first time the Vatican has been forced to turn off its some 100 fountains, “so this is an exception,” Greg Burke, Director of the Holy See Press Office, told Reuters TV.
God have mercy on us all. Doctor Mengele was considered a monster for equivalent experimentation. One can never do evil in order to achieve good. But these 'brilliant scientists' can have no real idea what they are going to achieve. Inevitably, they will expect they can improve on God as they 'progress' from correcting faults in genetic material to designing new, improved genotypes. As every biotype comes with its own peculiar immunity/bacterioviral environment, it is not implausible that these mad scientists could prompt the development of diseases to which normal humans have no immunity. The complexity of DNA is so incomprehensible that these wunderkinds are shooting almost totally in the dark. The complete divorce of the sciences from God, accompanied by their corresponding sundering from morality, replaced as it is by the imposter that is 'ethics', presents a terrifying reality. It is like handing a two-year-old the keyboard that operates a nuclear arsenal.
Reading this reminds me of the New York Times headlines on the morning of the 9/11 disaster; on how researchers were demanding greater freedom to create embryos. "Scientists Urge Bigger Supply Of Stem Cells; Report Backs Cloning to Create New Lines". Pray that no similar disaster happens.
I remember that SG and the irony did not escape me. What flaming tower will terrorize this time around? Perhaps a flaming city. How horrible to contemplate. Hubris if a diabolical order is at work.
Little Charlie Gard has been baptized, and is joined to Jesus Christ and His Church. Please pray for God's grace to continue to pour over this child and his parents, and that great good will come from the gift and lesson of his life. St. Jude, patron of impossible causes, for us! #BecauseFaithMatters
djm, Thank you for posting this. I will continue praying for Charlie and his parents, they have been through so much.

July 28, 2017 / 11:27 AM / 11 minutes ago North Korea fires missile into sea off east coast, possibly an ICBM Jack Kim and Elaine Lies SEOUL/TOKYO (Reuters) - North Korea fired a missile on Friday in an unusual late-night test launch, and details announced by Japanese officials and media suggested it could be an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM). The launch from North Korea's northern Jangang province took place at 11:41 p.m. (1441 GMT), an official at South Korea's Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said. The U.S. Defense Department confirmed the launch, saying it was making further assessments. "As a result of their launches of ICBM-level missiles, this clearly shows the threat to our nation's safety is severe and real," Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said. Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said that the North Korean missile flew for about 45 minutes. Japanese broadcast NHK citing a military official said the missile reached an altitude of more than 3,000 km (1,860 miles). The data indicates the missile was fired at a sharply lofted angle but packed more power than a missile launched earlier this month that U.S and South Korean officials said was an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), potentially capable of hitting the mainland United States. The North claimed after the July 4 launch that it had successfully tested an ICBM that flew 933 km (580 miles), reaching an altitude of 2,802 km (1,741 miles) over a flight time of 39 minutes and able to carry a large and heavy nuclear warhead. U.S.–based missile expert Michael Elleman of the International Institute for Strategic Studies said Friday's test was possibly of a similar missile with a more powerful second stage, but stressed it was a preliminary assessment. South Korean President Moon Jae-in has called a National Security Council meeting for 1 a.m. Saturday, his office said, and Abe also said a National Security Council meeting would be convened. http://www.reuters.com/article/us-n...BN1AD1ZB?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=Social
Brought to you by your worst possible main character in your worst nightmares: Intelligence Agencies Say North Korean Missile Could Reach U.S. in a Year Until a few weeks ago, the official estimate was that it would take roughly four years, give or take 12 months, for North Korea to develop a missile that could carry a nuclear weapon small enough to fit into the missile’s warhead and capable of surviving the stresses of re-entry and deliver it to the United States. But the realities of the past few months, especially a July 4 test that crossed a major threshold — if just barely — has forced intelligence experts to conclude that their estimates have been too conservative. In the test this month, a missile carried a warhead 1,700 miles into space, and returned it at high speed in a sharp parabola. If the trajectory was flattened out, the missile could strike Alaska. That forced government experts, reflexively cautious after overestimating Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction 14 years ago, back to the drawing board. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/07/25/us/politics/north-korea-missiles.html

The weapon was fired by a U.S. Air Force plane and intercepted by the system, the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) said, describing the test as "successful." I wouldn't put it past China's plans being to let the U.S. defend itself against N Korea, bringing on chaos, esp. on the U.S. west coast, then to be taken advantage of by China's planned interference there. Meanwhile it seems that Russia is still acting on its mostly western region and Syria....where such positioning at a time of chaos in the U.S. would be poised to take advantage (after entering Europe perhaps first or at same time) from the east coast of our country. Believe there is some prophecy about that involvement of China from the west and Russia from east. Or.....we could all just pray real hard and offer sacrifices and then instead of a tsunami of chaos and destruction, perhaps only "small" waves hitting us.... ? The doctors and nurses are "literally holding them hostage" . Is this serious ? You do realise this is not the case ? I have never read quite so much misinformed bilge about anything in my life. Where on earth are you getting this information from ? I am really wondering who controls the US media and press.
It is emotional and somewhat factually inaccurate, but this viewpoint is closer to the truth than the assertion by the UK authorities that they were acting in Charlie's best interests, god bless him. The nub of the case is the usurpation by the state of parental rights with respect to their children. In not allowing Charlie's parents to decide his fate, which is their God-given right, they effectively engaged in a form of legal kidnapping. [Unfortunately, the usage by journalists of the fine and useful word 'literally' seems to be to depict that which is actually opposite to its true meaning].
