NPR did report that the march occurred, but they didn't make any estimates on size, and continuously described the march as "anti-abortion-rights activists." EDIT: right now I'm listening to "The Daily", the podcast by the New York Times, which is talking about the Women's March that's supposed to take place tomorrow. Big news there is that identity politics (although not being named as such) are responsible for the fracturing of the movement, so this march (if it actually happens) might be the last. The problem is that the originator was a white Jewish woman. Now the leaders of Black Lives Matter is saying that she needs to step aside, because the women of color won't take a back seat anymore, and BTW, a number of the leaders have connections to Louis Farrakhan, and the Jewish leaders want them to sever the ties to him. And don't get started on the lesbian/trans women and their place in the march. All in all, in the first Women's March lost credibility from the get-go when Pro-Life women's groups were accepted at first, but were then told they couldn't march with them because feminist groups didn't want them there. In other words, these women, claiming to march for all women, reserved the right to tell you what you had to believe and how to act in order to preserve women's freedoms. Like I said, Identity Politics writ large.

Unlikely although it's hard to tell how things will pan out anywhere in Europe. I don't pay attention to the news anymore. There's a lot of discontent and people seem to be easily manipulated. I don't think I would be surprised to learn some day that all the angst and demonstrations were being orchestrated by a small group of faceless people while the various European governments were doing the bidding of the same or another small group of faceless people. Is that what you Americans call the Deep State? The identity of those small groups and what is their ultimate goal could be anyone's guess. Maybe we would find out if we were a fly on the wall at the Davos or Bilderberg gatherinngs. It looks like there's a plan to make the EU a world super power, including a military super power. Perhaps that's the goal. If so, one or two of the existing super powers might not be best pleased. While an EU army might be a good idea on paper, I'm not overjoyed at the prospect of a military power controlled by the country whose most famous sons were Karl Marx and Adolph Hitler.
Yeah, pretty much. Two books you might find interesting: The first is "Raven Rock: The Story of the U.S. Government's Secret Plan to Save Itself--While the Rest of Us Die", by Garrett M. Graff. Since the beginning of the nuclear age, every few years there's an effort to develop a "Continuity of Government" (CoG) plan that would ensure the basics of American life would be able to continue after a nuclear war. Every attempt has failed, usually because people are people. For example, one plan in the late fifties and early sixties failed to account for segregation: the evacuation place was in Virginia, which was part of the segregated south, meaning there was no place for the drivers (who were usually black and were used to transport government officials to the bunkers) to stay, since all of the motels and hotels in the region were segregated. Most frequently, the plans failed because the planners, even after decades of running into this problem, failed to consider that the men were not going to escape to safety without their wives and underaged children. CoG covers a LOT of minutia: Newspaper articles have been written about plans to keep the US Postal Service going even after many of the locations they service would no longer be there. What struck me were the plans to keep the courts running: they not only needed places for the judges to be housed and fed, but they also needed access to law libraries if the courts were to function. I bring this up because starting in the 80's and increasing until today, some agencies started staffing people in the bunkers on a 24/7/365 basis so that the agencies could instantly spring into action. The "Deep State" frequently uses these people who are or were part of a CoG plan, meaning they would already be in place if needed. The other book is "Liberal Fascism: The Secret History of the American Left, From Mussolini to the Politics of Change" by Jonah Goldberg. It shows how facism isn't tied to the left or the right, and has creeped into our lives in the past few decades.
One thing that is a good thing about all this "awakening" to the evil systems that have been in control for so long while simple people adapted to the gradual "smoke" of deception and evil plans....that people now have a chance to respond and fight back. Paul Badde – author of several bookson the Volto Santo and Rome Correspondent of EWTN – has just interviewed Cardinal Gerhard Müller about this upcoming event. Different websitesare announcing the event – at which Archbishop Bruno Forte, the local bishop of Chieti-Vasto, will also participate. The Jan. 20 event will start with an 11 o’clock Mass in the Basilica and then be followed by a procession and a blessing with the Holy Face relic. January 20 is the traditional Omnis Terra Sunday, on which, in 1208, Pope Innocent III for the first time blessed the Church and the world with this relic, which is believed to stem from the tomb of Our Lord, depicting His Face at the moment of His Resurrection. In that year, Innocent III led a solemn procession with the Volto Santo from St. Peter’s to the church of the hospital of S. Spirito, S. Maria in Sassia. When the Holy Face became lost during the Sack of Rome (1527), this tradition stopped, only to be revived in 2016 by Archbishop Georg Gänswein, the private secretary of Pope emeritus Benedict XVI. Gänswein then carried a copy of the Volto Santo through the streets of Rome and celebrated a festive Mass in honor of this relic. In 2006 and not long after his election, Pope Benedict himself went to Manoppello, a little village in the Abruzzi mountains, in order to visit the Volto Santo and thus to honor, as Pope, this relic once more . Pope Francis, as of today, has never visited the Holy Face, but numerous cardinals have done so, among them Cardinal Joachim Meisner, Cardinal Robert Sarah, and Cardinal Kurt Koch. The bishop responsible for this shrine, Archbishop Forte, has given an interview to Paul Badde, in which he has strongly endorsed the authenticity of this sacred relic. In his interview with Paul Badde, Cardinal Müller, who is the former Prefect of the Congregation for Doctrine, explained that he, as bishop and as priest, sees himself as “a defender of the Faith.” “Even if I may not be anymore the Prefect [of the CDF],” he said, “it is still left to me the mission – as given to me in my ordination in Christ – to defend 'the truth of the Gospels' (Gal. 2:17).” It is in this light that Cardinal Müller said he also sees his visit to the Holy Face of Manoppello: “Therefore, it is also his [the priest's] holy task to bless the faithful with Christ's image, which he lifts up high. The Most Holy Trinity, the Incarnation, Christ's Cross and Resurrection are the fundamental truths of the Christian Faith,” he explained. In light of these holy duties of a priest, Cardinal Müller said he sees today, however, “a secularized way of thinking, also among the highest authorities." Yes, Christians for 200o years have rejected the sins of the world, but have not been violent or in the face of those they disagree with and not turning to violence as so many of the pagans, especially in the homosexual world, are doing to Christians today. They are not satisfied to disagree with Christianity, they want us persecuted. You can see this on display in many universities among the faculty and students today who are labeling and then persecuting students who dare practice their Christian virtues and live out the truths of the faith.
