It seems to me, CrewDog, that the Russians can't afford to back down now. Doing so would mean losing their footholds in Syria and Ukraine with the possible loss of Crimea. I don't think they would care about the rest of Ukraine so long as they didn't lose Crimea. Assad wasn't such a tyrant by Middle Eastern standards. There was no need to get rid of him because he was already talking about introducing more reforms when the US backed the islamists. All of the recent upheavals have been about removing Russia's influence and footholds outside its own borders. Should the US get its regime change in Syria we will have yet another hard-line Sunni Islamic State. Obama wasn't expecting anyone to use chemical weapons when he made that red line speech and it's very doubtful that it was Assad who launched the chemical attack shortly afterwards. Getting hold of chemicals and using them wouldn't have been difficult for some of the US allies that have been supporting the jihadists from day one. Putin may well be gambling that Obama doesn't want his legacy to be all out war, but that gamble will only last until the next US President is settled in to the White House. I really don't think that Trump will be able to do anything meaningful because between the AIPAC and petrodollar influence in the two Houses of the US Congress, his power would be very limited. Clinton would have the full support of the Democrats plus a rump of the Republicans such as McCain to do whatever the real power brokers want. We'll find out what they really want soon enough. I'm in the middle of reading the "Discourse on the End of the World" by St. Hippolytus http://www.catholicrevelations.org/mainhomepage annex.htm Hippolytus died in 236 AD at a time when there was no prospect of an Israeli state. Hippolytus fully expected that the Jews would eventually get control of the promised land and that the temple would be rebuilt, but his views on Israel's ally were less than favourable. He used prophecies from the Old Testament and from the Apostles to arrive at his conclusions. He expected the AC to restore the kingdom of the Jews and destroy the leaders of Egypt, Libya and Ethiopia by war before raising tribulation and persecution against "the saints" which presumably means the Church. Of course, there was no Islam in his day. Maybe he would have reached different conclusions had Muhammed and the Brotherhood been around then. Hard to tell the good guys from the bad these days.

I think Antonio Yague, being Spanish himself, explained that it is the Nov. date that Leander is celebrated in Spain and that that date for anyone in Spain would be assumed. In the discussion of same on the Sacred Astronomy thread "Woman Clothed With the Sun" also commented: But he is a Spanish saint and he is officially celebrated in the Liturgical Calendar in Spain on November 13. He has a page also in the Spanish Divine Office [the Liturgy of the Hours], on November 13.

Hi Terry, I hope you Geralyn and all your familyare keeping well at this very,very difficult time of trial. I can't help noticng on the forum and off the forum how many, many people are going thorugh such huge personal and familial times at the moment and I wonder if this is not the greatest Sing of all? I was talking to a father the other night , a very,very good Catholic gentleman whose teenage son had assaulted him by puching him on the nose and he had had to call the police (not for the first time) to rmeove him fromthe family home. I admit I stand back in awe the continuing Faith my Catholic sisters and brothers have at these present huge difficulties and trials they are encountering. In awe and very , very humbled. I pray every day for you all, with a sad but vigilant heart but there seems such a tusunami of trials that my own prayers seem so very, very little. But prayers you all do have. Nevertheless all there good peoples continuing Faith and struggle owards insories and is such a huge source of deep inspiration for me. I pray and hope that when my own hour comes, as come it must, I migh stay eually Faithful to the was of love and prayer and forgiveness , keeping the fire of hope and trust burning in my heart as you all do. A limtied nuclear exchange between Rusia and the USA causing the infrastructure of both countires to fail for a period, leading to complete cahos, this coupled with a RUssian incursion into Europe along with revloutions there. China takes her chnce to cross the Amur river and attack Russia. Coupled with all this the most extraordinary solar activiy leading to sings in seiesmic and weather activity and , proably hugh EMP bursts. At some stage a direct intervention from God along lines which have already been indicated by Our Blessed Lady. There will be other events along with htis as well , such as some kind of impact on Earth from space. But I would say in general lines that is what we face.
There is so much a sense of things that we are not being told the truth or the whole of the truth. We had a war here in Ireland that motore don for about 30 years and someone went to a wise old priest and asked him when it might end, to which the holy man replied, 'It will end when people want it to end'. I think this is true that wars wil lend when we all want peace enough to leave our sins behind. But we are very far from wishing this.
