It is conveniently forgotten that most priestly abuse was of young adolescent boys. The strongest common denominator in child abuse is not the priesthood, as it occurs in all professional groups with access to the victims, but the homosexuality of the great majority of the perpetrators across all such groups.
The correct word is not "pedophilia" (or "paedophilia" if you like having extra letters in your words ); it's "eubophilia". Eubophilia is sexual desire for someone who is going through or has recently completed puberty, but (in females, anyway) is not physically mature enough to carry a healthy baby to term. Think of 34-yo guys hitting on 15-yo girls. Under law, pedophillia is defined as having sex with someone under the age of consent. The above example is legally pedophilia. There may be different categories based on the age of the underage partner, but there's no differentiation in most jurisdictions. True pedophiles do not express a sexual preference: the great majority focus on the age of the victim rather than the gender. Eubophillia DOES express a sexual preference -- you might have a 34-yo man having sex with a 15-yo girl OR a 15-yo boy, but not either. They are either heterosexual or homosexual. This means that the majority of the priests in the child abuse scandals were engaging in homosexual behavior. It just fits the media story better to call them "pedophile priests" (since that's what they were charged with under law) than to call them "homosexual priests".
Indeed. Certainly, it seemed to me that here in Ireland the media provided much greater coverage of priestly abuse of girls. My suspicion is this was to insinuate a false narrative that deflected attention from the homosexual component.
What truly astounds me is why a Priest should consider engaging in sexual behaviour when he has entered into a Covenant with God to live a celibate life. What did they teach them at Seminary.
Before I became a catechist I was required to learn about this and unfortunately it seems that these men look for positions in life where they can more easily in engage in these acts. The proper screening was not performed in advance of them going into the seminary. They certainly did not learn this behavior in the seminary.
So can I assume these perverts were truly sneaking into seminary spending years training for Priesthood, so as to gain access to other peoples children for their own gratification. What is the definition of mortal sin. I think we have a good example in this one.
Is there a list of these corporations and businesses who are choosing to tolerate these things?(someone mentioned PayPal and Target) Can anyone point me in the direction in finding this list, because I'll certainly exclude them from any buisness Id give them. Thank you in advance. Jesus, and Mary, I love you, save souls.
In some cases, the men honestly believed that by engaging in homosexual sex they were still maintaining their vows of celibacy.
Good grief. They are worshipping their pride instead of God. If what was described in the article is true about this mass, then they are in open apostasy. Pray for those poor souls who are so lost.
With what I see each day this is sadly not surprising. Are any of us thinking that all will continue as before with no change. Most of the people in my life have no faith and live as If nothing will change. In the darkest moments I remember sitting on cross mountain in Medjugorje (29 years ago) with a peace I had never ever felt. I remember that peace outside of extraordinary phenomena simply being still with God. Is that what meeting God is like a stillness that fills everything. In the face of dreadful events of suffering grace is here dare we reach up to the great Mercy that PF offers.
I just had a buddy send me the below message titled "A photo worth a thousand words"...... plus comments. View attachment 4821 "There’s a particular photo that went around the world of a little boy lying dead on the beach. It is true that this photo was very sad and makes you reflect on the distress of these people fleeing their country at the risk of their lives. Above, a photo showing 10 people walking in light snow to reach the final objective, to live in a European country. Even if this photo is making it around the world, only 1% of the people will notice the whole truth. In the photo there are 7 men, 1 woman and 3 children. Up to this point – nothing special. But by observing a bit closer, you will notice that the woman has bare feet, is accompanied by 3 children, and of the 3, she is carrying 2. There is the problem because none of the men are helping her. That is because in their culture the woman represents nothing. She is only good to be a slave to the men. Do you really believe that these particular individuals could integrate into our societies and countries and respect our customs and traditions ? And it has more to do than just with the treatment of women by Muslims." YUP!!!and just why are the USA & EU Left Wing PC Politicos bending over backwards to Kiss the Butts of Muslims while trashing pro-life & pro-family Christian Tax-Payer Class every chance they get?? ... Eh!!?? I'm guessing Satan plus $$$$ poured into Political Pockets from the Middle East. Islam teaches that there is no greater goal than to spread "The Religion of Peace" and snuff out "Infidel" Religions. What better way to do that than flood (invade) the West with "Refugees" many of whom are Jihadists that will lead/intimidate the rest. Couple this with a West that is crippled by 50 years of PC Socialism ... morally & fiscally bankrupt! A West that has wiped out a whole generation of their own Native (not) Born through Abortion and now is facing birth rates that won't sustain their native population, culture or religion................ and guess what's the Hot Topic in the USA now?........Transgender Bathroom Etiquette!! Still think we can bumble along for another Generation!?? GOD SAVE ALL HERE!!
Venezuela introduces two-day week to deal with energy crisis http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-36145184
This is in line with Catholic Prophesy that usggests that everything will fall apart, Revolutions, Civils Wars , Anarchy. Most people put it down to Economic collapse. Perhps that will be one reason, but it appears just so total and global. As though societies would start to eat each other in a rage. There is so much anger out there, a real rage, even a killing rage. You can even sense a little of it on the forum at times.
Truth. I'll probably take a break until it sorts itself out. Differences of opinion are no excuse for insulting others and damning them to hell.
I only started to read about her today and knew nothing about her, one of the things I read was in relation to a new energy being created the way she described it it had all the hall marks of the Higgs boson and the activity at CERN http://home.cern/topics/higgs-boson
Indeed. I think the internet creates a mob mentality, creates a sense of impending doom - self-reinforcing. The smallest global incident is instantly broadcast around the world, giving us a sense that disaster is right around the corner. Of course there have always been global incidents, since the dawn of man. But somehow we think it's all different now. Curiously, this feeling that "everything is really different now, everything is unraveling" began in earnest with the explosion of the web, of smartphones. (Television before it lit the fuse). So there is really a mob psychology going on everywhere, even amongst the Catholic faithful. The increase of lawlessness will cause the love of many to grow cold (Matthew 24.12) Neuroscience is proving beyond a doubt that the internet is radically altering our brains (The book entitled "The Shallows: What the Internet is Doing to our Brains" is but one place to start). Our attention span has plummeted. Really, it has completely collapsed. Our brains give us "phantom phone rings" even though our phones aren't ringing. The effect this has on our liturgy is easily seen. How long those Eucharistic prayers seem to be! Mass has barely begun and I see heads around me twitching, looking about nervously. People get bored quickly. Some even reach for their phones. Yawning and nodding heads. As our liturgy goes, so goes our world. Where I live, traffic jams are common because the person at the front at a red light frequently has their head down in their phone, playing a game or checking email. I'm a computer guy and not a gloom and doom type. But social psychology, neuroscience..these things are side interests of mine. Frankly, this can only get worse and worse, because our brains thrive on the constant drip of interruptions and dissipation. It wrecks the spiritual life, destroys inner harmony. We have the technology to give our brains the disastrous drug it loves. The web, smartphones, social media galore, online forums - this is all cocaine for the brain. To even attempt to find our way out of this presumes that we acknowledge it as a problem. This will never happen, as it is seen as the greatest good we have accomplished. I see no swinging back of this pendulum, to a simpler time, away from the minute-by-minute offerings of dissipation. We are now sleeping with our phones, our iPads. We arise in the night to go online. Are we suddenly, or even slowly, going to collectively say 'enough,' and somehow discipline ourselves to unplug? I don't see it. Not a chance. We know sugar is unhealthy for the body, but its use has skyrocketed and there's no going back. Just so with these technologies which have destroyed our interior communion with Christ. Once that is gone, it's game over. We are ready for any kind of catastrophe. You would be shocked if I told you how a coworker of mine views natural catastrophes. "It's bad [not the word he uses] to be the ones killed but at least we've got interesting news now for awhile." Well, I do believe these times really will force sainthood upon us. Mark
