Just found something in Wikipedia referring to the astronomical accuracy of her Gadarene Demoniac Story: Astronomical analysis The narrative of the Poem of the Man-God includes a number of observations of the positions of the heavenly bodies. For instance, in episode written on December 11, 1945 Valtorta wrote of a night Jesus spent at Gadara: "the sky is glistening with countless stars... with its springtime constellations and the magnificent stars of Orion: of Rigil and Betelgeuse, of Aldebaran, of Perseus, Andromeda and Cassiopeia and the Pleiades united like sisters. And Sapphirine Venus covered with diamonds, and Mars of pale ruby and the topaz of Jupiter..."[citation needed] In 1994 Purdue University physicist Lonnie VanZandt analyzed these events to estimate a date for the event described. Using a computer simulation, VanZandt noted that the only possibilities for the observation Valtorta described during the month of March would be AD31 and AD33, and after considering other elements in the narrative concluded that March AD33 was the only possibility. According to VanZandt the estimation of the joint observability of these three stars and the position of the moon during that time would have been almost impossible without a computer system.[15]
It talks about Canon law and being on the Index Mac. You clearly said "so demonic" ... yet you provide no evidence of this. Banned perhaps (like so many others whose works have been resurrected again) but demonic? That's just you isn't it?
I am not twisting his words. There is no need for me to twist them. I take them as I believe they are intended. I have faith in him. Would it be fair to say that not only do you not have faith in him but you you see him as fair game to be pounced on and pummeled at every turn. (Do you pray for his intentions?) I am far from alone in my perspective. I suspect your views are shared by very very few Catholics. Perhaps you are unaware of this because of the distance your church has put between yourself and the Church of Rome. Most Catholics would agree that the Pope was simply reminding us how important forgiveness is to the survival of a marriage and family, church and society. I reiterate ,Pope Francis did not say that Jesus had sinned. Is that your interpretation of his words and the basis of your false accusation of heresy. In fact the pope has stated clearly that Jesus has never sinned even though he was tempted in every way that we are. Just so I am clear - and forgive me if I am wrong. The word escapade is actually in quotes and in any case your understanding of the word as being something wrong is very narrow. It can mean doing something adventurous or out of the ordinary. The word 'beg' can simply mean to ask earnestly. My story was an illustration of how saying sorry can be an affirmation of empathy and and a source of comfort rather than looking for forgiveness for sin or mistake. Whether it was an escapade or not is really irrelevant. Do you believe Pope Francis is a heretic? Do you believe that he said Jesus sinned? If not, what heresy is he guilty of? You say that the Pope's lack of clarity causes confusion so I hope you practice what you preach and please answer my questions clearly and simply. Is Pope Francis a heretic? What specifically did he say that is heresy?
All the questions about the Pope are.... in the words of BH[For once Ill take his advice] 'above my paygrade' I wont judge him. I also wont make up imaginary storys to excuse him. Just discerning what he is saying.
How rude and insulting, Mac, and what a cop out. Above your pay grade, what a crock. You just go on making up imaginary stories to condemn him. That seems to make you happy. My story was not to excuse him but a vain attempt to help you see things differently. Waste of time and work.
Concentrate Mac, concentrate...the issue is why you call her demonic without any evidence whatsoever ... at least from my previous research on her but maybe I missed something.
Wow, what a blast from the past - excellent. Forgotten all about the muppets, I used to love humming manamana and doing the little dance.
D'oh boy, you're doing the pedantic thing now... OK, so you go to quoting a guy who, when challenged, you deny agreeing with . Come on Mac, please tell me Aristophanes' dictum doesn't apply to you...I know it doesn't: "Youth ages, immaturity is outgrown, ignorance can be educated, and drunkenness sobered, but stupid lasts forever."
Mac it was simply a quick and dirty initial proof to demonstrate I wasn't talking baloney and a so a starting point (admittedly not the strongest) for those who sincerely seek the truth that there is something to investigate further for themselves. I do have a scholarly article on how the astronomical analysis was carried out somewhere on my NAS from 3 years ago but don't have time to find it at present. And what is the point, if you aren't open enough to tracking down and yaying/naying for yourself the possible truth I bring before you then you wont be interested in this analysis anyhow. For myself I have serious reservations about her writings as it seems a mixed bag of likely valid private revelation and mere human imagination (but how to discern which is which?). From memory I (and others) do seem to pick up on a mildly sexual preoccupation and maybe even superstitious elements. I suppose this is probably a fairly "normal" weakness even in good men and women of the world of moderate Christian virtue ...but I think we expect a higher standard in our mystics and white martyrs. But demonic?
Mac I would think a good Catholic would consider holy Pope Francis innocent until proven guilty. You believe the opposite is more appropriate? That's not very Christian, you, you Inquisitor type you. MacThomas de Torqemada.
