    FS,
I'm thinking you might be a bit hard on Pope Francis and the Senora on this one ........ there are better examples if you choose to criticize the Pope I'm thinking ......... I'm also thinking that thee & me are going to find all kinds of folks in our "Foxholes/Life Boats" in the near future ........ some we never expected and no-shows that we did expect!

    GOD SAVE ALL HERE!!

I'm pretty sure fallen saint is being facetious, Crewdog. Parroting the Francis doubters (who sound like the Pharisees) in their outcry and hand wringing about what Pope Francis "might do" and now did do in talking to and showing mercy to a prostitute, just like Jesus did when he walked our earth

Thank you, Mac, for the quote of St Alphonsus de Liguori. I find the quote somewhat 'severe' and prefer the interpretation that Mary's words were a reproach (although not a rebuke).

For those who might be interested I quote, below, the Lord's words about this incident taken from the 'Poem of the Man God':

Mary endeavours to make Her way through the crowd, and succeeds after much effort. There is Her Son, standing in the midst of the doctors with His arms stretched out. Mary is the Prudent Virgin. But this time anxiety overcomes prudence. It is a hurricane that demolishes everything. She runs to Her Son, embraces Him, lifting Him off the stool and putting Him down on the ground and She exclaims: “Oh! Why have You done this to us? For three days we have been looking for You. Your Mummy is dying with pain, Son. Your father is exhausted with fatigue. Why, Jesus?

You do not ask “why” of Him Who knows. “Why” He behaved in a certain way. You do not ask those with a vocation “why” they leave everything to follow the voice of God. I was Wisdom and I knew. I was “called” to a mission and I was fulfilling it. Above the earthly father and mother there is God, the Divine Father. His interests are above ours, His affections are superior to everything else. And I tell My Mother.

I finish teaching the doctors with the lesson to Mary, the Queen of doctors. And She has never forgotten it. The sun began to shine again in Her heart now that She had Me, humble and obedient, beside Her, but My words are deeply rooted in Her mind. There will be much sunshine and many clouds will gather in the sky during the next twenty-one years I will still be on the earth. And great joys and many tears will alternate in Her heart during the next twenty-one years. But never again will She ask: “My Son, why have You done this to us?

Oh, insolent men, learn your lesson.

Mac are you doing your Rigorist thing again.
Haven't you learnt from your St Jerome debacle yet that even Saints have bad hair days and write it wrong?

Well, if Mary was/is the "perfect woman", always remember something that my dad taught me: "Never hesitate to apologize to your mother. When you're wrong, you're wrong; and when you're right, you're wrong."

Sadly that book is even found in my parish. I dont like it at all.

"Poem of the Man-God is so demonic that without a special Grace from our Lord Jesus, we would be trapped in seemingly harmless statements by Valtorta's Jesus, but they enclose lies and heresy, contrary to Teachings of our One, Holy, Catholic Church." Brother James, S.D.B

I never imagined myself agreeing with you in matters of religion but I have to admit that you could be right on that issue. However you'll have to make a greater effort in order to get me to say: "I have confidence in Mana Mana".

As usual I feel I may be wasting my time reproving you for your false accusations of the Holy Father that he is guilty of heresy. But scripture obliges me to do so otherwise I too will be condemned by your sin. By your attitudes and actions you would seem to any right minded person to be, at least, an opponent of the pope. Are you his enemy? Do you pray for his intentions? Pope Francis did not say that Jesus sinned and so he committed no heresy. All the usual anti Francis Blogs have jumped on this quote as they always do and falsely accused our Pope. You and others here seem to belong to that gang. Let me paint you a picture from my imagination springing up right now. Our Lady is standing near the temple when some camels go wild and stampede towards a child standing behind her. Jesus who is standing near sees the scene unfolding. The child's father who is also near sees the danger screams at the child to run. But the child cannot move. There is no way to save the child other than pushing Mary roughly out of the way and scooping the child out of harms way. As a result Mary fall heavily and hurts herself badly. Having saved the child Jesus returns to his Mother, helps her up and says "Are you ok. I am so, so sorry. I did not mean to hurt you but I heard the Father and had to save his child." In this imagined scene Jesus did not sin but did the right thing and complied with the will of the Father. Throughout the history of prayer, meditation and contemplation, imagination has been put to good use. Just so Pope Francis was showing the importance of maintaining harmony in the family by such things as forgiveness and asking for forgiveness when our actions either deliberately or by accident hurt someone else. Jesus did no wrong but it is obvious his actions hurt Mary and Joseph. There is a difference between hurting someone and harming them. Ask any parent who has to lovingly discipline their child. The actions of Jesus did not harm Mary. But she was hurt by His actions on this occasion. I feel the words of Denis the Carthusian, "not a rebuke but a loving complaint," display great sensitivity perhaps a 'loving rebuke' would also describe Her words even though no rebuke was warranted. Mary was impeccable but not necessarily infallible. I am sure she got things wrong and had to learn by her mistakes, like any Mother. But Her mistakes never constituted sin. She is eternally Immaculate. The words of scripture are self evident in their context and meaning. Our Lady was expressing her displeasure and that of St Joseph. Mary's mistake here was perhaps to believe that Jesus could have been a little more considerate of their feelings. If so, she he was wrong but she did not sin. Mary was frantic with worry but she did not accuse Him of causing this worry. She asked him. And Jesus replied with a question to Her. (This is a lesson I could learn on this forum.) As ever, he did His best and that was to obey God His father perfectly. He had to do what He had to do because God wanted Him to do it and God was a Power bigger than His mum. The actions of Jesus did not please them but they were not done to displease them but to please His Heavenly Father. No party was in the wrong here. All parties were in the right and perfect in the eyes of God. Jesus explained His actions and normal service was resumed. They let go and let God.

When I looked at the pictures of Damascus in link below, all I could do was think of Isaiah's prophecy in chapter 17:

    1Oracle on Damascus:*

See, Damascus shall cease to be a city

and become a pile of ruins;a

2Her cities shall be forever abandoned,

for flocks to lie in undisturbed.

3The fortress shall vanish from Ephraim*

    and dominion from Damascus;

The remnant of Aram shall become like the glory

    of the Israelites—

oracle of the LORD of hosts.

The story you have told Joe , I do understand what you are saying.
But that would not be described as an 'escapade' .Escapade suggests doing wrong. And in your story Jesus would not have to BEG for forgiveness.
Why do you think you know what Pope Francis actually means, and everyone else must be wrong?
Do you realise it is you who are twisting his words to fit your interpretation?

Is this Mac, the believer in anything wholesome and holy NOT sanctioned by the Church?

OK, I will take the bait ... what are the obviously demonic bits?
Walking backwards, lying sick in bed all day, speaking strange tongues, adding to the Gospels when we aren't meant to add or subtract from them...what?

I recall astronomers were astounded by her account of the Gerasene Demoniac.
In describing the scene she mentioned a number of features re the sun, the moon and the stars which were uniquely arranged.
When a trained astronomer put together all the possible times/locations in the last 3000 years when this conjunction of elements could have occurred (which back in those days was without computers) ...it fitted Palestine in the last year of Jesus's life perfectly. There were only 1 or 2 other possible times/places. Incredible if true.

Your favourite Pope loved this book and kept it under his pillow didn't he?
