I concur had the worst night's sleep but ive come down with a nasty virus which doesnt help. more prayers for the sick child.
Sorry, PF, somehow I overlooked your post. Praying!! I can't remember, is he your youngest? My younger daughter, Therese, is also asking prayers for her three kids, (Ages 5, 3, 1) who seem to be recycling a germ circle. They are out in Colorado. My son, Christopher, has 4 young ones who are on a good footing these days. They live in Sealy, TX.
Really hope it’s not RSV that was the worse illness I had coughing constantly and only would get 1-2 hours a sleep. Coughed so much I pulled the muscles in my rib cage and since it’s a virus there is nothing that can be really done. Had it for almost 3 months. Pneumonia was easier imo! Praying for you and your kids!
Yes this is my youngest. My kids are 12, 7, 5, and 2. They are all sick. We took the youngest to the doctor today and she says he most likely has RSV, and definitely has the croup. So he got a steroid shot and a breathing treatment. He has perked up considerably since then, but I know RSV can stick around a while. Thank you for the prayers and I'll pray for your grandkids.
I haven't worked personally with this herb but it has one clinical trial demonstrating it could be effective. I am sure you could find an herbal cough syrup online with some of these ingredients to at least help support the kids' immune systems. Glad to hear he is feeling better with some treatment. Elecampane has been traditionally used to support lung and respiratory function. It’s said to help the respiratory system by working to expel phlegm from the lungs. A clinical trial involving 106 children with acute cough was conducted to test the effectiveness of a herbal cough syrup containing various botanicals, including: Inula helenium (i.e. elecampane) Malva sylvestris (i.e. common mallow) Plantago major extract (i.e. plantain) Helichrysum stoechas (i.e. everlasting flower) Over the course of 8 days, the study found that the group that was given the cough syrup had a significant reduction in overall cough scores. Additionally, a lab-based study found that elecampane (as well as Grindelia squarrosa) worked to reduce inflammation within cultured human respiratory epithelium cells. The researchers stated that their observations in this study justify the traditional use of these herbs for the treatment of inflammation-based diseases in the respiratory tract. A clinically approved extract of Elecampane root (standardized for sesquiterpene lactones) is marketed in Russia under the name “Alanton”. It is used in the treatment of acute and chronic infectious and inflammatory diseases of the respiratory system, especially those accompanied by a persistent cough with thick viscous mucus.
