The explanation again is that they aren't supposed to shake his hand as he passes, it's a protocol thing. But that doesn't explain, for me anyway, the sort of casual way they viewed Pope Benedict, they seemed much more keen on seeing the German President than the Pope and I find that a bit ominous.
I think you haven't read the explanation carefully, Scolaire. I quote: The pope introduces one by one each of the cardinals and bishops to the president. This is why in the video the pope walks politely behind the president. Benedict XVI walks along, extending his right arm as he tells the president the name of every prelate.....
