This is why the promises attached to Divine Mercy Sunday are just so wonderful. Frances Hogan once pointed out that there is no reason why any of us should end up in purgatory, when Jesus has shown us the way and then given us such wonderful means to go straight to heaven.

Yes, for indeed many years now, come hell or high water I have attended Divine Mercy Sunday with complete confidence. It has brought such great peace and joy. For a great sinner like me it is not small thing.

This is the first year for many, many years I have missed and I am none too happy.

  3. I would be more inclined to take the authority Christ gave us and cast out all in His name. (Lk 10:19) He has given us the tools to do the job and we will see results if we act on His word.

I would go so far as to say that the whole Spiritual Life is a descent into the abyss of God's Mercy.

I really loved what Viska said when asked about this, she said she was perfectly tranquil and at peace. I would take a cue from her.

It is quite true too, that the devil has been active in attacking Medugorje not only from without but from within too. In other words inside Medugorje itself.

We are none of us without fault, we are all sinners. I don't think , knowing ourselves to be sinners we should be scandalised if others are sinners or have sinned, even the visionaries at Medugorje. After all there were more than one of them.

Viska is a saint I believe, I do not claim they all are.

No more than I would claim that every Cardinal in Rome is Godly.

The greatest test and proof of the authenticity of Medugorje will be in the obedience of the visionaries to Holy Mother Church.

This was the great litmus test of Padre Pio , which he passed to perfection.

I wonder if a Great Church Commission was organised to investigate us and our lives poking in all the corners how many of us would get the all clear...the total all clear?

Let's be honest in my experience we all have things brushed under the bed. Yes even the holiest of us. When we say we are all sinners we not whistling dixie, if we are really being honest.;)

Padre Pio was an exception, I think ; but how many Padre Pio's do you think are going about?

Not too many. Not too many at all.

Gosh that is a pretty dramatic report, it really does seem that the visionaries could be under fire from the Vatican. It will cause considerable ructions in the Church leading up to the already fractious synod...

YUP!! ... but Thankfully, Jesus said we would be washed clean in His Blood if we did our miserable best to seek Him!:)
Wait a Sec!!! .... Did you say "Whistling Dixie"!!!?? I'm reporting you to Obama's Department of Just-Us in DC!!
It's been forgotten by most except American History Fans, like me, that the most influential song of the early Confederacy was "The Bonnie Blue Flag". I find it interesting that it's the States of the Old Confederacy where People of Faith, Black/White/Brown, are taking the most principled stand against the onslaught of satan and his useful idiots and their Agenda. I could easily imagine a Christian version of "The Bonnie Blue Flag" ... that bears a single Cross!!

    GOD SAVE US MISERABLE SINNERS!!

Thanks for posting the video! Am I correct in assuming that the Bonnie Blue Flag was the official flag of the Confederacy, while the Stars and Bars was the battle flag, carried into battle to identify which side was which?

Jesus was in the desert only 40 days. Moses and the Israelites wandered in the desert for 40 years. This was as a result of the evil report of the 10 lying spies. Each tribe had sent a spy into the land that G_D was going to give them to see what was in store. The spies brought back reports of a land filled with milk and honey; two of the spies brought back bunches of grapes so large it took the two of them to carry the samples. However, they also brought back lies, describing the current inhabitants (that G_D was about to evict) as so large and fierce that it would be suicide for the Israelites to take them on. Only two of the spies came back telling the truth, and the Israelites chose to ignore them. All night they complained to G_D and saying they would be better off in slavery in Egypt. This so enraged G_D that He wanted to wipe them all out except for Moses and start all over again. Instead, Moses convinced G_D to be merciful, so instead, G_D promised that none of the people of Israel would live to enter the land. The exception would be the people of the two tribes whose spies told the truth. They wandered in the desert for 40 years, waiting for that generation to die.

So I guess it IS a good analogy to purgatory: all that time spent suffering waiting for you do die to your old self.

Well we are far afield from MOG & Dreams-n-Visions but .....
The Flags of the CSA are confusing. The Bonnie Blue Flag began it's life in Florida around 1812 when the US took the place from Spain and was later used during Texas' independence war with Mexico. It was used as a rally banner during the early stages of the Civil War ... thus the song. Many Texas (The Lone Star State) units carried it during the Civil War. The Stars and Bars are actually the First National Flag of the CSA. What many people mistakenly call today the The Stars and Bars is actually the Battle Flag of Lee's Army of Northern Virginia and other variants of this flag were used by the Armies of Tennessee and the Trans-Mississippi. The ANVA battle flag became the "Field" in the CSA 2nd National (Stainless Banner) and 3rd National Flags.

My favourite rendering of the, 'Bonnie Blue Flag' , was from the film, 'Of Gods and Generals'.

One of the most ineteresting lights shed by this fil was how very God fearing people on both sides could often be. ..and yet stilll do their level best to kill each other.

I remember reading a book many years ago that gave sermons from French and German Archbishops and Cardinals strongly urging their countrymen to kill each other and promising both sides that God was on their side fighting for them.

While at the same time the then Pope Benedict , the great Pope of Peace was in the process of dying of a broken heart at the wars outbreak, Benedict xv was hated by all sides for taking no sides.

A Great, true Pope, he never gets enough credit for this.

The Great War would have ended two years earlier had the Allies accepted the solution proposed by Blessed Karl of Austria and presented through the Vatican. The bulk of the Austro-Hungarian Empire would have been converted to a confederation, still holding allegiance to and being ruled by the Emperor.

The plan was rejected outright by President Wilson. As a Freemason, he wanted nothing to do with any plan that had been touched by the Vatican, and he had dedicated himself to the destruction of the European empires, particularly the Austro-Hungarian Empire, with its Roman Catholic orientation. Wilson's actions led directly to the Iron Curtain and the spread of Communism only 20 years later.

As an aside, I have come to loath President Wilson, and will describe him as America's answer to Stalin. If you think that's a bit over-reaching, read up on his organization, the Four-Minute Men; the political trials of people opposing him; and how the fear of prison cowed American newspapers from reporting the truth about the Influenza Epidemic and thus ensuring its spread.

I've often wondered why it is that the losing or underdog sides always have the best and longest-lasting songs. "There Once Was a Union Maid" from the worker's movements; the aforementioned "Bonnie Blue Flag"; basically the entire history of Irish folk music...

Hopefully this is why the Spirit hasn't inspired me to write new lyrics to "The Bonnie Blue Flag" with a Christian bent -- because we're not the losing side!

(I wonder if there are any folk songs that survive from the Cristero Rebellion.)

'I've often wondered why it is that the losing or underdog sides always have the best and longest-lasting songs'
Its true , really, the best song of the Second World War was the German song, 'Lilli Marlene' and the second best was the SS Marching Song, 'Erika'
    At least I think so.
