    My Friends,

It has been a sad day for those of us who live in Arizona, especially Tucson. Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, similar to the house of commons, was having a town meeting in a parking lot here in the Tucson area. It was during this time that a young man, 22 years of age, walk into the group, shot the Congresswoman in the head and then proceeded to open fire striking 18 other people. The congresswoman, so far, has survived but of the 19 people shot 6 of them have died. It is so sad and tragic when there is an occurance like this. Please pray for all 19 people and especially for the souls of the 6 that have died.

The other thing that is occuring is the political spin that is already being made concerning this incident. Since Ms. Giffords was on the left....well I shall leave it there.

Thank you all for your continued prayers.

Yes, it's headline news here in Ireland too and such a tragedy so are prayers are with all those who suffer and for the souls of the dead.

It seems a 22 year old was arrested - how sad that one so young should cause such mayhem and destruction - and hate others so much - his heart must have been full of hatred.

I'll be praying for you all at Mass. Its so sad. I pray it ends here and maybe good will come in a kinder, gentler political discourse.

We have had more than our fair share of political killings here in Ireland and I know how such things can escalte, it takes love, the Waters of the Spirit to quench the flames of hate.

One of the victims, U.S. Court Judge Rohl, was a devout Catholic and had just come from daily Mass to say hello to the Congresswoman. May we all be prepared as he was for the day Christ calls us home!

This is so terribly sad. While I mourn for everyone, I'm especially torn up up the nine-year-old girl who died from a gunshot wound to the chest.

I can't imagine--don't want to imagine what that little girl's family is going through. The press is making a big deal about how she was born on 9-11-2001, the day the World Towers were attacked. Maybe there's some connection there, I don't know, but what caught my ear is that the little girl had recently made her First Communion.

So sad indeed...I thought of how Satan is getting very bold, and brazen, these days. And I mourn also for the parents of the young gunman who was clearly in his grip for a long time...
