Archbishop prays while topless gay activists shout curses and douse him with water

    by John-Henry Westen

BRUSSELS, April 23, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) - In an astonshing display of gentleness in the face of a vile attack, the head of the Catholic Church in Belgium, Archbishop Andre-Joseph Leonard, remained calmly seated with eyes closed in prayer Tuesday as four topless women attacked him with shouts and curses and doused him with water.

It’s not the first time the bishop has been attacked for standing up for the Church’s teachings on homosexuality and expressing his concern for those who live the homosexual lifestyle.
The incident took place at the ULB University in Brussels where the archbishop was participating in a debate on blasphemy laws.
The four women, representing the pro-abortion and homosexual group FEMEN, took to the stage where they disrobed to reveal black-painted slogans on their bare chests and backs, such as ‘my body my rules,’ and 'anus dei is coming.' They also held signs reading ‘stop homophobia’. The women doused the archbishop with water from bottles formed in the image of the Virgin Mary.

For most of the attack, which lasted a number of minutes before the women could be forced off stage, Archbishop Leonard sat drenched with water with eyes closed in prayer. After the ordeal, the archbishop kissed the image of the Virgin Mary on one of the water bottles that was used in the attack. Le Soir reports that one of the interveners said of the archbishop: “He was very calm and maintained a position of prayer. I have to believe he was praying for us.”

According to FEMEN, Tuesday’s attack was spurred by an interview three weeks ago where Archbishop Leonard said that when speaking to Christians who are inclined to homosexuality he suggests celibacy, as is required for all single persons.
Already in 2007, as Bishop of Namur, Archbishop Leonard was accused of an offence against the Belgian anti-racism act for calling homosexual acts “abnormal”. In 2008 he was cleared of homophobia charges after appearing in court.
In 2010, as the new archbishop of Brussels, the archbishop was targeted by homosexualist groups, and condemned by the country’s prime minister, after he said that AIDS is a consequence of risky sexual behavior, including homosexual sexual activity.
Also in 2010 he was attacked at his Cathedral by a man who shoved a cherry pie in the archbishop’s face. Again in 2011, homosexual activists at the Catholic University of Louvain-la-Neuve near Brussels threw a custard pie in the archbishop’s face.
Archbishop Leonard has been a great supporter for the pro-life movement in Belgium, speaking at their inaugural March for Life in 2010.

I saw that on Spirit Daily too. Just so hard to see the images. I hope the Lord gave him much consolation after that :(

How inspiring to see the Archbishop close his eyes in prayer as he was viciously attacked by these people. He was no doubt praying for them as they did Satan's bidding. "Father forgive them for they know not what they do."

I must pray for those poor, poor people, like the good Archbishop

    Sister Lucia:

'She opened Her hands once more, as She had done the two previous months. The rays appeared to penetrate the earth, and we saw, as it were, a vast sea of fire. Plunged in this fire, we saw the demons and the souls. The latter were like transparent burning embers, all blackened or burnished bronze, having human forms. They were floating about in that conflagration, now raised into the air by the flames which issued from within themselves, together with great clouds of smoke. Now they fell back on every side like sparks in huge fires, without weight or equilibrium, amid shrieks and groans of pain and despair, which horrified us and made us tremble with fright (it must have been this sight which caused me to cry out, as people say they heard me).
The demons were distinguished by their terrifying and repellent likeness to frightful and unknown animals, black and transparent like burning coals. That vision only lasted for a moment, thanks to our good Heavenly Mother, Who at the first apparition had promised to take us to Heaven. Without that, I think that we would have died of terror and fear.
We then looked up at Our Lady, who said to us so kindly and so sadly: “You have seen hell where the souls of poor sinners go. To save them, God wishes to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart.”

This poor man who is an orthodox Catholic bishop had to follow Cardinal Daneels (a Cardinal!) who was regarded as the most liberal Catholic bishop in the whole of Europe (he and his bishops were the first to introduce communion in the hand) and who failed to oppose abortion, contraception, moves to homosexual 'unions' and euthanasia along with the majority of his clergy in Belgium. The politiicians loved Daneels and they hate Archbishop Leonard who deserves our prayers, he is truly in the lion's den and it was the Belgian Church that helped put him among the liions by their cowardice in past years.

  9. THE 1915 ARMENIAN GENOCIDE – WHY IS IT STILL DENIED BY TURKEY (AND THE U.S.)?

In his post on the genocide, (The Forgotten Genocide: Why It Matters Today) Raymond Ibrahim recounted the story of a woman who claimed to have witnessed the brutal crucifixion of 16 young girls.
In her memoir, Ravished Armenia, Aurora Mardiganian described being raped and thrown into a harem (which agrees with Islam’s rules of war). Unlike thousands of other Armenian girls who were discarded after being defiled, she managed to escape. In the city of Malatia, she saw 16 Christian girls crucified: “Each girl had been nailed alive upon her cross, spikes through her feet and hands, only their hair blown by the wind, covered their bodies.” Such scenes were portrayed in the 1919 documentary film Auction of Souls, some of which is based on Mardiganian’s memoirs.

Hi MS7, I am Armenian and I want to thank you for acknowledging the genocide. I have grown up with first hand information of what my grandparents lived through during the genocide and all the horrific things that happened to them. It is unbelievable yet so few people know about it. Turkey will never acknowledge it and the US will not either for fear of angering Turkey, one of their most important allies.

There is also opposition to the term genocide not only from Thrkey - some consider that there was only one genocide during XX century and only one nation could claim the word....

I visited the Armenian Museum in Jerusalem and was so sad to read of the massacre. Even more so to see that it has never been acknowledge not only by Turkey but by the wider world community. May God bring this darkness into the light so that there may be healing.

Apart from that I enjoyed the museum, a beautiful restful healing place where I got to cool of ,rest and pray from the summers heat. So many, many things to see in Jerusalem the Holy!

  13. This reminds me of an incident I witnessed in medjugorje some years ago. During the evening mass in the packed church a man approached the side of the alter just coming up to the consecration. He took out some matches and proceeded to light one at a time and tried to flick it into the chalice. The priest ignored him for a while but when he persisted he turned to the man and said something directly to him. The man turned on his heel and hightailed it out of the church immediately.. I can only guess it was a command in the all powerful name of Jesus!
