The relationship of the Church with the Jewish People. Holding our Jewish brothers and sisters in contempt is not the teaching of our faith. All of our separated brothers and sisters have a hardening, a blindness that only Jesus can heal. Many of our protestant brothers and sisters firmly believe that our mother, the Church, is the whore of Babylon. They, also, are not our enemies.

Our enemy is the world, the flesh and the devil.

They are not our enemies, they are our patients. We are Christ’s nurses. The patients think the nurses are their enemies, but the nurses know better.
Our enemies are not even the media of the culture of death, not even Ted Turner or Larry Flynt or Howard Stern or Disney or Time-Warner. They too are victims, patients, though on a rampage against the hospital, poisoning other patients. But the poisoners are our patients too. So are homosexual activists, feminist witches, and abortionists. We go into gutters and pick up the spiritually dying and kiss those who spit at us, if we are cells in our Lord’s Body. If we do not physically go into gutters, we go into spiritual gutters, for we go where the need is.
Our enemies are not heretics within the Church, “cafeteria Catholics,” “Kennedy Catholics,” “I Did It My Way” Catholics. They are also our patients, though they are Quislings. They are the victims of our enemy, not our enemy.
Our enemies are not theologians in so-called Catholic theology departments who have sold their souls for thirty pieces of scholarship and prefer the plaudits of their peers to the praise of God. They are also our patients.
Our enemy is not even the few really bad priests and bishops, candidates for Christ’s Millstone of the Month Award, the modern Pharisees. They too are victims, in need of healing.

There was a very insightful scene in the film, 'Silence of the Lambs' ', I always remember and which struck me as so true.

FBI Agent Clairce Starling (Jodie Forster) goes down to see mass murderer , brilliant Psychiatirst Hannibal Lector ( Anthony Hopkins) in his base ment prison.


Hannibal more nor less takes poor agent Starling to pieces in seconds going right into her life and a traumatic moment (which gives the film its title) in which the lambs on her home Virginia farm were slaughtered (hence the film title).


But Clarice doesn't go off without firing a shot of her own, for she says to Hannibal, 'Why don't you turn the lazor sharp light of your brilliant intellect on yourself, Dr Lector?'

I think this is a brilliant summation of the Spiritual Life, that bright lights of our minds and hearts must be turned always on our own areas of darkness, rather than the darkness of others. We must be concerned firstly with our own personal failings and in gradually increasing circles to others we are responsible for such as our family, our Church our country. Rather like the ripples in a pond.

I rember when I was 15 noticing in history class at school that 30 pages were torn out of my school history book. CUrious I discovered that the very same 30 pages were ripped out of every school book in the class. I went down to the library and found the 30 missing pages concerned the Medieval Papacy at its most degenerate under the horror picture of the Spanish Borgia family.

In the monastery I discovered , after I had left that the priest who taught me moral theology (right and wrong) had been a child molester (he was sentenced to five years) and that his previous episodes had been covered up by the clerical authorities.

I guess what I am trying to say is that we as indiividuals and as a Church have enough to do turing the lights within (as Agent Starling suggested) without turning the light on the darkness in others...

I am only pointing out instances where "our enemy of the world, the flesh, and the devil" reside in this world. As Ronald Reagan used to say, "facts are stubborn things." Instead of attacking the messenger I would hope that we could discuss the issues.
Another example of the old covenant being ripped up and replaced by the new is the perrenial teaching of the church that "the catholic church is the new Israel". Wherever in the bible Israel was mentioned we can now "substitite the catholic church" there.
Also what does Peter Kreft say about the rendering of the veil in the sanctuary of the temple at the time of Christ's death and its implications going forward, or does he simply avoid this perennial teaching of the catholic church.

Dr. Kreeft is a wise man and a good Catholic. But I'm much more interested in what the catechism says.

Please know that I didn't attack you personally. I'm just saying that the temptation to hold any group of people in contempt is something to fight against.

And I am all too familiar with this temptation. I have a crooked little heart that is quick to judge, and there is a corner there where I can hold the fiercest grudge. (I can't hold onto money, but I can hold a grudge with the worst of them!)

I am sorry but I refuse to put "my head in the sand." What did Our Lady say at Fatima? She warned us about Russia and communism. Godless atheism as represented by Karl Marx's communist manifesto that has been adopted by the West including the US. Critical Meetings


In the Communist seizure of power in Russia, the Jewish role was probably critical.

Two weeks prior to the Bolshevik "October Revolution" of 1917, Lenin convened a top secret meeting in St. Petersburg (Petrograd) at which the key leaders of the Bolshevik party's Central Committee made the fateful decision to seize power in a violent takeover. Of the twelve persons who took part in this decisive gathering, there were four Russians (including Lenin), one Georgian (Stalin), one Pole (Dzerzhinsky), and six Jews.9

To direct the takeover, a seven-man "Political Bureau" was chosen. It consisted of two Russians (Lenin and Bubnov), one Georgian (Stalin), and four Jews (Trotsky, Sokolnikov, Zinoviev, and Kamenev).10 Meanwhile, the Petersburg (Petrograd) Soviet -- whose chairman was Trotsky -- established an 18-member "Military Revolutionary Committee" to actually carry out the seizure of power. It included eight (or nine) Russians, one Ukrainian, one Pole, one Caucasian, and six Jews.11 Finally, to supervise the organization of the uprising, the Bolshevik Central Committee established a five-man "Revolutionary Military Center" as the Party's operations command. It consisted of one Russian (Bubnov), one Georgian (Stalin), one Pole (Dzerzhinsky), and two Jews (Sverdlov and Uritsky).12

Contemporary Voices of Warning


Well-informed observers, both inside and outside of Russia, took note at the time of the crucial Jewish role in Bolshevism. Winston Churchill, for one, warned in an article published in the February 8, 1920, issue of the London Illustrated Sunday Herald that Bolshevism is a "worldwide conspiracy for the overthrow of civilization and for the reconstitution of society on the basis of arrested development, of envious malevolence, and impossible equality." The eminent British political leader and historian went on to write:13

Needless to say, the most intense passions of revenge have been excited in the breasts of the Russian people.​

David R. Francis, United States ambassador in Russia, warned in a January 1918 dispatch to Washington: "The Bolshevik leaders here, most of whom are Jews and 90 percent of whom are returned exiles, care little for Russia or any other country but are internationalists and they are trying to start a worldwide social revolution."14

The Netherlands' ambassador in Russia, Oudendyke, made much the same point a few months later: "Unless Bolshevism is nipped in the bud immediately, it is bound to spread in one form or another over Europe and the whole world as it is organized and worked by Jews who have no nationality, and whose one object is to destroy for their own ends the existing order of things."15

"The Bolshevik Revolution," declared a leading American Jewish community paper in 1920, "was largely the product of Jewish thinking, Jewish discontent, Jewish effort to reconstruct."16

Amongst many prominent , 'Catholic' , Nazi leadrs in Germany (besides Adolph Hitler and Josef Goebbels ) were Heinrich Himmler (leader of the SS) , Reinhard Heydrich, Heinrich Mullerv and Rudulf Hoess.

On the other hand many prominent Catholic were murdered by the Nazis for opposing them.

Opponents of the Church have said then that Catholics were pro Nazis. Not at all, we cannot paint all Catholics with the one brush . The problem with these people is not that they were Catholics but that they were Catholics i name only .

The same goes for the Jews. Certain Communists were 'Jewish' (in name only) but we cannot condemn Judaism because of this.

Many Jews died opposing Communism.

 

Once again, the Talmud, NOT the Old Testament, is the most important book for today's Jews. Someone please explain to me how these people are "our elder brothers in the faith".

Gloats over Christ Dying Young:

A passage from Sanhedrin 106 gloats over the early age at which Jesus died: "Hast thou heard how old Balaam (Jesus) was? - He replied: It is not actually stated but since it is written, Bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days it follows that he was thirty-three or thirty-four years old."

Says Jesus was a Sorcerer:

Sanhedrin 43a. Says Jesus ("Yeshu" and in footnote #6, Yeshu "the Nazarene") was executed because he practiced sorcery.

Horrible Blasphemy of Jesus Christ:

Gittin 57a. Says Jesus ( see footnote #4) is being boiled in "hot excrement."

Sanhedrin 43a. Jesus deserved execution: "On the eve of the Passover, Yeshu was hanged...Do you suppose that he was one for whom a defense could be made? Was he not a Mesith (enticer)?"

If you read the post Mac you will see there are a lot of opinions and suppositions and very few facts! Many statements have been made on this thread that have basis only on subjective opinion and not objective evidence.

Anti-semitism has been a common experience in European history as the Jews were an easy minority scape goat - thus in this context the myth of the Jewish-Bolshevik plot with regard to the February revolution in Russia.

On the eve of the February revolution the Bolshevik Party had a about 10000 members and of these 364 were ethnic Jews, which is less that 4%.

I am disappointed to read some of the comments in this thread which lean towards anti-Semitism because people are peddling opinions as facts. It is precisely this lack of forensic historical analysis that leads to stereotyping and myth. Hence, even today we have Holocaust deniers!

In Germany this concept of Jewish Bolshevism reflected the common perception that Communism was a Jewish inspired and Jewish led movement hence in Hitler's Mein Kampf he argued that Bolshevism was 'Jewry's 20th century effort to take world dominion unto itself'. Mmm, sounds like a subjective opinion to me!
