While the fighting in East Ukraine is terrible for the residents, the disunity of the Catholic and Orthodox Churches in this situation is the biggest scandal. In peaceful times, the disunity is there although not necessarily on show but the war exacerbates the underlying disunity. Hearts need to change if Christ's desire of Unity is to be achieved.

Whatever the truth may be, whatever our personal opinions of Russia and Putin may be, whether the Consecration of Russia has been done or not or just for a part, lets join the below mentioned petition and spread it on Facebook and/or via our personal mailbox , it can do no harm. And.... that each of us (if it has not been done yet) start a Rosary prayer group in his church or at home, even if there are only 2 persons to pray. A Rosary prayer group is a blow in the face of the devil.

Russia Is the Key to History – Salvation History !
The August summit in Minsk, Belarus, between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko turned out to be little more than a distraction for the benefit of the Western media. The prospect of the meeting raised false hopes that negotiations might stop the armed conflict in Eastern Ukraine but served only as a propaganda platform from which charges and counter-charges were launched. (See: “Minsk meeting: Russia stands tall and proud”: http://english.pravda.ru/russia/politics/27-08-2014/128382-putin_poroshenko_minsk-0/ )

Even as the summit was underway, Russian forces were reported to have entered Ukraine and a new offensive was begun by separatist factions in the southern part of the country. The town of Novoazovsk was taken with little resistance and an assault on the important coastal town of Mariupol was expected.

Putin appears to know very well what the West also knows but is reluctant to admit: the United States and its European allies will not go to war with Russia over Ukraine. (See: “7 Reasons Why America
Will Never Go To War Over Ukraine”: http://www.forbes.com/sites/michaelpeck/2014/03/05/7-reasons-why-america-will-never-go-to-war-over-ukraine/)

There is no compelling U.S. vital interest in Ukraine, and Europe wants to avoid a prolongation or escalation of economic sanctions that injure both Russia and Europe and are unlikely to produce a resolution of the conflict. Russia has a vital interest in Ukraine; the West does not. Putin is evidently aware that he can withstand sanctions and harsh rhetoric.

Putin has even compared the siege of Donetsk to the siege of Leningrad by Hitler’s armies during World War II (see: “Putin Compares Ukraine's Advance in East With Nazi Siege”: http://www.themoscowtimes.com/news/article/putin-compares-ukraine-s-advance-in-east-with-nazi-siege/506137.html). The mention of Leningrad strikes a deep chord in the Russian heart, arousing both national pride and a belief that perseverance through hardship brings victory. Leningrad withstood more than two-years of assaults and suffered 670,000 civilian casualties. It is a national emblem of Western aggression and Russian resistance — and ultimate triumph. Putin knows his people.

Russia has been named as the key to world peace by Our Lady of Fatima. Whatever Russia does, therefore, will have a profound effect on all nations, for good or ill. Right now, the leader of Russia appears intent on two things as his pillars of policy: a resurgence of Russian nationalism and a revival of the Russian Orthodox Faith. The two are intertwined in Putin’s mind, as is evident from pronouncements he has made.

The leaders of the West appear incapable of either understanding or coming to terms with a policy rooted in a profound religious and cultural identity. They fail to appreciate fully that punishing Russia economically will cause privations, not to the Russian elites whose names appear on sanctions lists, but to the common people. They also appear not to realize that punishing the Russian people may help Putin gain their support, as evidenced by his soaring approval ratings. (See: “Putin’s Popularity Soars to 87% in the Face of Adversity”: http://time.com/3088126/putins-popularity-hits-87-russia/)

The West has forgotten that Christendom began with the blood of the martyrs. People are capable of sacrifice and of great nobility when it comes to defending that which they love. Putin, despite his possible motives, may be preparing Russia to assume the role assigned it by the Queen of Heaven.

Our Lady of Fatima asked for the Consecration of Russia to Her Immaculate Heart, and even specified how this was to be done: in unison, by the Pope and all the Catholic bishops (see: Fatima: The Requests: http://www.fatima.org/essentials/requests/). That such a detailed command from Heaven should be given us is both striking in its singularity and, one would think, irresistibly compelling. Yet, the Consecration has not been done and the Church has yet to recognize the centrality given Russia by Our Lady: the peace of the world is linked to Russia’s fate, and that fate has been placed in the hands of the Pope and bishops.

All eyes may be on the Middle East at present, but as terrible as are the events unfolding there, Our Lady of Fatima made no mention of Syria or Iraq or Israel when She appeared to offer the world Her peace plan. Russia is the key to history — salvation history. When Our Lady is at long last obeyed and Russia is converted, other problems around the world will be solved as well, for how else could the promised world peace be achieved?

So, if we want peace, if we want salvation for ourselves, our loved ones and the suffering people of this world, let us do all we can to bring about the consecration of Russia as Our Lady requested.

We must work and pray ever more fervently that the Holy Father and the bishops will heed the requests of Our Lady of Fatima. (See: Petition to Our Holy Father : The Consecration of Russia: https://secure.fatima.org/forms/petition.asp and the Release of the full Third Secret: https://secure.fatima.org/forms/thirdsecpet.asp )

Absolutely agreed. I would just add that it is not merely a question of Catholic-Orthodox tensions but also of major internal conflict within Eastern Orthodoxy.

It is however perhaps worth bearing in mind that the Enemy is sowing discord out of desperation in reaction to advances in God's own work for unity (in terms of the historic reconcilation between Western and Eastern Christianity, just think of Paul VI and Patriarch Athenagoras, then John Paul II's Ut unum sint or the recent calls from the Coptic Church to unify the date of Easter) which he fears terribly. Paradoxically this ought to encourage us.

Thinking along the same lines, the Devil also greatly fears evangelization of the unchurched, of which there has been a great deal in the Ukraine in recent decades. Here, whatever their shortcomings in other areas, it has been charismatic Evangelicals who have been leading the way (and it was heartening from an ecumenical perspective to see Archbishop Shevchuk express his concern over the persecution of Protestants in Eastern Ukraine). When God's kingdom advances, there is always a counter-offensive from the opposition. This point was recently made by Loren Sandford, an American/First Nation prophetic minister - son of John and Paula Sandford, legends in the charismatic movement - who is a regular visitor to the Ukraine and whom I greatly respect as one of the most mature and sober voices in his constituency. Back in the April issue of Charisma Magazine (which incidentally is being quoted with increasing regularity both by Spirit Daily and Spirit Digest), Sandford made the connection between the advance of God's kingdom and the resistance of the forces opposed to it. A reading of the deeper spiritual dynamic at work in all of this which is well worth pondering, I think:

The Significance of Ukraine in the Kingdom of God

Seven years ago, when I first visited Ukraine as a speaker for the annual "Catch the Fire" gathering there, I prophesied that Ukraine was and is a stealth torpedo in the Lord’s arsenal that the enemy of our soul could not see coming. Ukraine has never been a world power and has never instigated a war, although it has been the victim of wars as world powers have repeatedly fought through and over its land. Who would expect anything powerful to come out of Ukraine?

Now, just as that world impact I prophesied is about to unfold, the enemy sees it and seeks to crush a growing voice before it can have the international impact God intends. Over the years, as I have ministered in Ukraine, I have seen good men and women grow into powerful leaders in the Lord. They are some of the finest and humblest Christian ministers I have encountered anywhere I’ve traveled. Already some have begun to branch out beyond the borders of Ukraine to spread the power of revival and the Good News of Jesus. This current crisis is more about the enemy of our soul seeking to mute a rising influence than it is about geopolitical struggles. At the core stand issues of the kingdom of God.

What happens in Ukraine does affect you, wherever you live. Please pray for our brothers and sisters in that nation and for the hand of God to intervene in such a way as to thwart the plans of the adversary, no matter how the geopolitical issues play out.

It is so interesting to read views different from my own in this, it makes me go away and think.

My older brother ,Ciaran loves and admires Putin and thinks it is funny the way Putin has been running rings around the West (to my horror:D).

I am not really much interested in politics nowadays. My own impressions spring from my own understanding of Catholic prophecy , most especially in relation to Fatima.

I have always understood that the Consecration of Russia did not take place. It was meant to be done in the same way that Abraham was asked to sacrifice Issac .

    Genesis 22:2

    The Offering of Isaac
1Now it came about after these things, that God tested Abraham, and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am." 2He said, "Take now your son, your only son, whom you love, Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I will tell you." 3So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him and Isaac his son; and he split wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place of which God had told him.…

......and as Paul reminds us Abraham was judged righteous by his Faith:

    Romans 4:1-8

    Abraham Justified by Faith
4 What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh, discovered in this matter? 2 If, in fact, Abraham was justified by works, he had something to boast about—but not before God. 3 What does Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”

4 Now to the one who works, wages are not credited as a gift but as an obligation. 5 However, to the one who does not work but trusts God who justifies the ungodly, their faith is credited as righteousness. 6 David says the same thing when he speaks of the blessedness of the one to whom God credits righteousness apart from works:

    7 “Blessed are those
    whose transgressions are forgiven,
    whose sins are covered.
    8 Blessed is the one
whose sin the Lord will never count against them.”

Our faith , when asked to make the sacrifice of the Consecration on the other hand has proved a failure.

Thus the Russians who would have been the arm to raise us are now the stick that will be used to beat us...and will continue to be until the sacrifice of Isaac is accomplished

I agree Padraig. I use to be a political 'junkie' and have stopped watching and listening much at all in the past 6 months. Nothing in the news seems to matter. It does not affect the least bit our polititions. Its as if they are loving the negative coverage as they thumb their nose (or fingure) at and the little bit of sanity left in the good that could be done.

Prayer is only only recourse now (as it has always been) and anyone who has their head in the sand at this point will get their butt shot off. Politics are not the answer, as their is none left who have brain in their head. I look for Russia to unleash its assult upon Europe by the end of September or October at the latest. It is going to be a long, cold, hard winter globally. For many the cold has already started as it is in the 50 degree F mark and only into the 60's for highs in the northern regions of the US.

Yes several people have indicated October. I am still leary of dates, but it cannot be an accident that October, as far as I recall , was the month the Blessed Mother appeared (at Fatima) . Deep cold is also mentioned on numerous occasions in prophecy as a Sign.

There are of course many other warning signs.

    Just look around you!!

    Peter B,

I ask you to listen to V the econmic guerilla in the following interview and rebut his arguments about this situation in the Ukraine and the ramifications on the US dollar. The poor Ukranian people have been set up/enslaved by debt/war with the Russians by George Soros/western bankers.

I guess line you mentioned Peter- it's troubling to see such two polar opposites within the Orthodox Churches- one almost hailing Putin as a saint an the other saying us us under control of satan. I don't know where the truth lies and as others have already said- I dont trust ANY politician- but to see Church's on such opposite sides, it is not good.

Just took a look at Patriarch Filaret's statement. Oh my ... Shows what a divided house Eastern Orthodoxy is at the moment and has been for a long time. Somehow I don't think that the book 'How to win friends and influence people' ever went into circulation over there.

Thanks for responding Padraig. I don't disagree that prayer is good way to lead one to the truth. But even if I am wrong and not finding the truth as I believe it finding peace in faith is always better than finding truth regarding world events. I know I am not called to be "all knowing" of worldly things or even spiritual things since I am just not that smart.

By nature I an suspicious although I work hard at not becoming cynical. This is a crucial difference. My suspicion is a trait God gave me so I accept it and try to use it following his will. By all rights I shouldn't believe in God at all but that someone so suspicious is a strong catholic says something about the truth of God/Jesus/Mary. God did prove himself to me, thankfully.

I don't believe the prophecy said Russia will annihilated many nation but that many will be annihilated by the spread of communism which has already happened due to the delay. I'm no Putin lover but he isn't a pawn of Satan anymore than any other world leader. I put no faith in politics I don't even follow them these last few years. As Jesus said this isn't a battle of flesh and blood but powers and principalities. Unless clearly Satanic no person is clearly evil. Prayer seems all there really is one can count on.

'Unless clearly Satanic no person is clearly evil.'

The German Episcopate maintained very friendly relations with Hitler , very very few ever spoke out against him. The Austrian Episcopacy and Catholics backed Anschluss (union with Germany to a man).

With the benefit of hindsight Hitler was clearly Satanic. So what is and is not Satanic is a matter of discernment for the eye of the beholder.

I prayerfully regard Valdmir Putin as very clearly Satanic . I mean this quite literally.

You, very clearly, on the other hand, do not.

Each to their own. Time will tell; we will see. Moscow will burn and its inhabitants with it. Thanks in no small measure to the efforts of its leader. Adolph Hitlers efforts brought about the same result to Berlin.

As I say we will see in the fulness of time
