She's been an in-law for two decades. A devout Christian many years. Has twice visited The Holy Land. In 2013 she expressed a desire to live in Israel. I replied that, as far as I knew, Gentiles (her and I) aren't allowed permanent residence in Israel. Her face went dark and scrunched up, and she hissed at me. Absolutely shocked, I could only sit and stare. She snapped out of it mostly, but then looked as though she were drunk or high (we'd spent the day; no alcohol or substances consumed) while "explaining" that she could live in Israel. Flash forward to 2019. I have three times caught her deliberately lying. This is also shocking, as previously (decades!) she has been an honest person. Sorry if this seems an "obvious question" (I prefer to keep to positive thinking): Does this seem a DEMONIC thing to those reading? Often I do feel EVIL pressing in on all sides these days. Any input is appreciated in advance.
She is originally Catholic (birth home/parents), but converted to Protestantism in the 1980s; she claims to be an Evangelical Christian.
DesertStar, I do think that she is correct and Christians can and do live in Israel but I wonder how difficult it is to permanently and legally migrate there if you are a Christian. They may have some very strict quotas on the number of Christians that they allow to migrate to their country each year. There is a strange relationship imho between Evangelicals and Israel and that may be what you are sensing. The evil one is very active now possibly because he knows his time is short. I suggest that you wear many sacramentals when you meet with her; any crosses, medals, scapulars and the like which have been blessed by a priest. Also, pray for her conversion to the Faith.
Thank you. It's her now deliberately lying which most surprises and troubles me. I've known her since the early 1990s; always knew her as honest - often brutally honest.
Evangelicals (I was one for a time) do have some pretty whacked out ideas about the nation of Israel as well as Judaism's role in the end times. We may experience supernatural things at times. I tend toward listening to what you hear in prayer and not ignoring your gut about these things. It may sound a bit woo woo but I think that as things progress we are going to see increasing manifestations of evil in sects and people who are not inside the church. We have to be careful not to become superstitious about this kind of thing though. The problem with Evangelical cults is that even in their single Sacrament of Baptism it is not uncommon that they do not Baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Not all mind you but it is a concern worth mentioning.
Thank you. And I'm also trying to avoid sounding "woo-woo." I've also had two nightmarish dreams: She was THE figure in one, and might've been represented in the other (just last night). She is a difficult person who hasn't had a rosy life. I've always, previously, understood the "why's" of occasional outbursts or negative attitudes. The recent development (seems is becoming habitual) of deliberate lying stuns me; especially how she justifies doing so in her own mind. I'd thought two trips to Israel would be a blessing in her life. Instead, I've seen an increase in negativity. That's the politest way I can put it. Very sad, considering we've previously gotten along well enough, with some good interactions.
Do you keep Holy Water in your home? Blessed Salt or a blessed medal or wear the brown scapular perchance? These tools are valuable to have around us to remind us of our duties to God and any devotions we have accepted. I had an experience a few weeks back that was demonic. There is no other explanation. The details really don't matter. What does is that we keep in mind that these powers will be around. Not for us to superstitiously react to them or be fearful of though. Remember what Padre Pio and many Saints experienced regularly on their walk. His happened in a monastery too. It is real and I think at some point these things no longer hide themselves from them but openly confront them from time to time. Or maybe it is that we become more aware of them and see them for their true form? I am not sure why they would do this, maybe because they can see that someone is marked for God... Maybe to make them grow closer to God by increasing their faith...but it is my theory based on reading the accounts of the Saints and the manifestations of evil many of them were confronted with. It sounds like your dreams are graces to me.
Ouch. An apostate Catholic is in a very dangerous place spiritually. Don is right about many evangelical protestants. They do not have the fullness of truth and the devil can--and does--distort scripture. Be sure to cover yourself in prayer calling on the Blood of Jesus and the Blessed Mother and your Guardian Angel when you are around her. And of course St Michael! Pray that wonderful prayer by Leo XIII. If you do feel evil around her steer clear is my advice and ask God to send her someone who can help her. Just my gut sense.
Yes. I know of a case not exactly the same but this evangelical (fallen away Catholic) I know of has been ranting at a friend of mine because this friend returned to the Church. She has been accusing my friend of all sorts of things and claiming she is going to hell. It is beyond bizarre.
I agree with all of the above. I have had similar experiences. Don is right about the evil one and his minions being after us and trying to trip us up. Today right after I had been to Mass, I was putting air in my tires at a service station and a woman drove up behind me and started harassing me. The demons will try anything to disturb us. They also accuse us. As for the lying, thank God you recognize the lies, and work from there.
Don_D: I have a medal, which I keep on my person at all times; and also a St. Michael pin. Both are kept out of view of others. She is not often in our home; it's usually us going to visit her. AED: Agreed. AED: Protestantism is deeply, DEEPLY troubled. I (born/raised) gave it another sincere, well-intended try 13 years ago - this time with "Progressive" Protestants. I'll defer a 5-page rant about that experience. AED: Will do. Heavenly Hosts: I'm not surprised. Agreed. Well thank you so much everyone. I will follow the advice given.
