Mac, you are the one who asked me my views on the matter. As you no longer appear to be exhibiting any reflection at all on this storm in a teacup topic its better you are left to your own devices. May I gently observe that Our Lady, as in all things, seems to acquiesce to prevailing Catholic customs regardless of her own will. At Garabandal Communion on the tongue was the norm. At Akita Communion on the hand was the norm and Sr Agnus made a personal choice to change under the influence of her Director and because of her stigmata (if you could find evidence that Our Lady actually instructed Sr Agnes to receive on the tongue that would support your view). At Fatima Our Lady first appeared in ancient formal peasant dress, showing lots of (lower) "leg". This outraged some locals (esp the priests) apparently unaware of the ancient acceptability in that region. From that moment forward she never appeared so again. Did you do any research into "the principle of subsidiarity?" I would have thought that Our Lady possessed the full mandate of the King of Heaven over the wishes of a mere parish priest at Garabandal. Yet when she was not allowed to send the ecstatic visionairies into the Church by the PP - she obeyed from that point forward. We could do well to imitate this humble obedience and abnegation of self-will and self-opinion in things non-essential. One obeys one's local superior - anything else is not our concern but the concern of higher authorities. This is surely is what is most pleasing to God in confused times by we the laity who do not receive management level pay packets. It has taken me a lifetime to understand that Catholicism is not simply about "what" we hold. That's only half. The other half is "how" we hold it. Lets not be too rabid or obsessed about how we hold our truths.
Kathy please! cant you just let us have some fun? As David said , a 'little banter ' wont hurt us . If I get real nasty and say something like this.... 'Hey , I just got hold of [so and so's] latest X-ray..... View attachment 1965 That would be mean.
Theres probably enough information posted now for most to make an informed decision on their own reception.I have a lot more quotes and information on the topic , but will be of little avail. BH said...' storm in a teacup topic' Quite the understatement. I guess we will discover the truth on Judgement Day. If Im wrong , So what. At worst I gave to much respect to the Holy Eucharist If your wrong ,oops!
